Chapter 74

Sage retorted by countering Jace’s questions. She added, “Jace Yuriel, have you not had enough ofhumiliating me during the past three years?”

The light in Jace's eyes dimmed.

While Jace was in a daze, Sage quickly removed her wrist from his grip. Perhaps Jace had grippedher too tightly, she felt a buming pain around her wrist.

Stretching her wrist, Sage looked especially cold and distant.

“Jace Yuriel, it doesn't matter why I chose to marry you in the first place. In the past three years, I'vedone nothing wrong to you. It was you who did me wrong. It was you who took our marriage forgranted, who neglected your wife, who cheated on me, and you were the one who asked for adivorce. So tell me, what have I done wrong? Am I to blame for letting you get your way?”

As if she was mocking herself, Sage scoffed, “Back then, you had loved Sienna, not me. But now thatyou know her true face, you decided to stop loving her. But this too has nothing to do with me,we're separated. Don't tell me that you suddenly realized how good I am or that you found out thatyou can't live without me after the divorce, so now you want us to get back together?”

Jace felt his chest tighten. A flustered look flashed across his face.

These days, he has not been acting himself. Even he was confused by his own actions.

Could it be that all Sage had said was what he was trying so hard to hide?

However, even as he thought about it, he dismissed it as absurd and ridiculous.

“I'm only here to talk business with you.”

As if he was trying to gain a foothold, with a straight face, Jace said, “I am also interested in thatpiece of land.”

“But I'm not interested in you.”

Taking no mercy on Jace, Sage turned and looked at Yoel. “I only agreed to work with you! I didn’tsay that you could bring a third party on board. Do you not trust me, or do you not have theconfidence in yourself? Are you afraid that you are unable to shore up the amount of work requiredfor 40% of the shares? If so, let me know right now, I'll get someone else instead.”

"Of course, I'm confident! Who says I'm not?” Seeing how Sage was about to turn against him, Yoelquickly added, “Why would a man not be confident?”

Sage rolled her eyes at him. “Cut the nonsense and have him leave this place this instance!”Glancing over at her team of assistants, Sage growled, “The show's over! Now get back to work andkeep your mouths shut about what you saw and heard today. You can get ready to resign if youdare to say a word about today.”

The staff had their heads hung low, and they got back to their respective stations.

Sage then went downstairs with Hunter and the others. Yoel placed his hands on Jace's shouldersand said, “You saw how she is, right? You should give up now, Jace. You should return to NadeemCity now. I'll take good care of your ex-wife.”

Yoel then quickly followed Sage. “Sage, wait for me.”

They parted ways unhappily again. Pressing his lips tightly together, Jace watched as Sage leftwithout even tuming back. His tightly clenched fists hung by his sides.

Jace wondered when it was that she had stopped smiling for him, and when had she begun actingcold and indifferent toward him.

In the end, Sage was still not willing to give him the answer he wanted.

“Sir, let's go.” Feeling bad for Jace, Zayne could not bear to see Jace in this manner anymore.Zayne finally understood the saying: “To kill, a person's soul must first be destroyed.’Mild-mannered people can get frightening too when they get angry.

Just when Jace was about to leave, Finn walked up to him and said, “Mr. Jace, I'm Finn Janssen, thevice CEO of Norah Group. May I have a word with you?”
