Chapter 854
Yoel greeted with a smile, “Hello, Aunt Primrose. Well, Rich Fulton is a nice name. You can call mewhatever you want.” Primrose smiled. “Young man, you're quite handsome. You're much morehandsome than your father.”
Yoel's father was an old acquaintance of Primrose and Sawyer. Yoel pointed at the white and blackhorses and said, “These two are a special gift from my father. He's glad to know that you're back.”Sawyer walked over and stroked the white horse's head. The white horse was very resistant at first, but as Sawyer mumbled something, the horse quickly calmed down and rubbed his head againstSawyer's palm. Yoel was stunned to see Sawyer tame the horse in such a short time.” Uncle Sawyer, you can speak to the horse?”
“It's not just that. My husband can speak to all kinds of animals.” Primrose rested her hand onSawyer and said with a proud face, “How else would we have spent the last few years on the island? It's all thanks to his communication with the animals.”
“That's amazing.” Yoel looked at Sawyer with a look of admiration and starry eyes. They each pickeda horse from the stable and took it for a walk.
Primrose and Sawyer took the white and black horses with them. Sage chose a little red horse, andJace picked a reddish-brown horse. The colors of their horses matched perfectly.
Yoel had his own horse. When he looked back, he saw Melody greeting the horse with trepidationand trying to reach out to pat the head.
However, as soon as she touched it, the horse raised its front hooves and made a move to kick. Itscared Melody and caused her to take a big step back and fall backward.
She fell right into Yoel's arms.
“Careful.” Yoel caught her and steadied her. Melody looked back with frightened eyes. Her dewyeyes and fearful look made Yoel's heart tremble.
Melody was startled again and jumped out of his arms. “Yes, I'm sorry.”
Yoel's arms were empty. He looked at Melody's wary and distant look and felt inexplicablyuncomfortable. He managed a smile and said, “Why are you so scared to see me now? Are youafraid of me?”
Melody dropped her head and wanted to walk past him to go outside. He called her from behind,“Melody.” His soft voice seemed to magically stop her in her tracks abruptly. Yoel's voice sounded alittle helpless. “Believe it or not, I never wanted to hurt you. If I hurt you, I'll apologize, okay?”Melody’s heart sank. She bit her lip and clenched her hands tightly. She seemed to muster hercourage as she turned her head with a faint smile.
“Uncle Yoel, you don't have to apologize to me. I was ignorant in the past and always pestered youshamelessly. Now that I know better, I won't disturb you anymore. I know you're my
uncle.”
She smiled again, but the smile pained Yoel's heart slightly. Where had the sunny and cheerful littlegirl gone?
Primrose and Sawyer were riding side by side in the sunset. They had smiles on their faces andlooked beautiful and peaceful together. Jace looked at them with envy and said to Sage, “Look atAunt Primrose and Uncle Sawyer.
They look so happy.”
Sage rode on the little horse and used her hand as a shade from the sun. “They are happy together, but isn't this just a public display of affection? Haven't you had enough of these on the island? Iusually choose to ignore it.”
Jace could not help but laugh. He tilted his head to look at Sage. “I just think we can be like themtoo.”
Sage was stunned and then covered half her face with her hand, flushing red. How could they belike them!
Jace looked at her shyness and wanted to say something else. Then, his phone suddenly rang. It wasZachary.
As soon as the call connected, Zachary's angry voice sounded.
“Jace, I don't know where Luna heard about you. She came here and caused a scene by falling forno reason. She got into the hospital and claimed that Aunt Freya deliberately hurt the child in herbelly. The police just took Aunt Freya away!”
