A Relentless Pursuit for Love -
Chapter 90
Chapter 90
She was more than happy to send Yeva to jail for what she had done to her. After all, it was Yeva andJulian who had schemed against her.
It was kind enough that Sage had allowed her to live and had not pressed charges against her.Sage did not wish to air their family’s dirty laundry for others to see.
Hence, she had come up with her own way of teaching Yeva.
Listening to Yeva's complaints, Leah looked baffled. “Did Sage really do all these things to you?”"Why would I lie to you?” Yeva pointed at herself and went on, “Aside from her, who would dare totreat me this way? I've been locked up in this room, and I don’t even have anyone to talk to. I'm soglad that you're here.”
Leah forced a smile. She did not think that she had anything to say to Yeva.
Studying Leah's expression, Yeva wrapped her hands around Leah's and asked, “Leah, are you stillmad about what did to you when we were young?"
Leah bit down on her lip without saying anything.
“I was young back then, and I was clueless. Plus, I didn't do it on purpose. In fact... there issomething that I've been hiding from you. “Yeva hesitated.
Looking at her, Leah asked, "What is it?"
Biting on her lips, Yeva looked as if she had made up her mind. She then said, “To be honest, all thethings that I did to you when w e were younger, including how I cut up your dress, doodled on yourface, and even pushed you into the thorn bushes... I didnt do ito n purpose... It was Sage. Sage hadforced me to do so!”
"What did you say?” Leah squinted. “Sage asked you to bully me? But why?"
“For fun I guess.”
Yeva added, “Sage is different from us. She had always been the princess of the Norah family, withGrandad and her parents all doting on her. Do you remember when she had not wanted to go toschool, and her parents hard hired private tutors so that she could be homeschooled? I guess it'sdifferent when her father is wealthy.”
“What about the both of us? My dad is a manager, and even his salary isn't enough to support ourfamily. If it had been sufficient, h e would not have dabbled in the stock market and lost all oursavings. Because of this, he had lost his job, and my mom had left him. Your situation is at leastslightly better than mine. Your stepmother has put you through hell ever since you were a child. Weare just playmates to Sage. She does not even see us as her cousins. We always had to walk oneggshells while we were around her, “snarled Yeva.
Shaking her head, Leah disagreed. “You shouldn't put it this way. We did not lead a good life simplybecause our parents didn't love us. What does this have to do with Sage? She had always beengood to us.”
"If she was really good to us, she should have asked us to stay at Rosa Garden with her! She shouldhave allowed us to receive a good education alongside her!”
Yeva was burning with jealousy and resentment. “We are a part of the Norahs too. So, why is shetreated differently? Do you think that she's nice just because she gave you a dress or a piece ofcake? She is simply satisfying her pride by doing so. Why don’t you get it? In her eyes, we are justdust, and she could get rid of us easily. We have to come together to get rid of her!”
Leah asked, “What's your plan?”
“I've already gotten on her bad side, and she is wary of me now. But it's a different case for yousince you just got here. Let's start by gaining her trust.”
Yeva continued, “As soon as she starts trusting you, it'll be easy for us to deal with her. Ill be waitingfor the day she comes begging on her knees!”
Looking at Yeva's twisted face, Sage's eyes darkened.
Sage thought about what her mother had once said to her, “Some people are just born evil, andthere is nothing you can do to save o r change them. But when they're rotten to their core, thatwould be the time when you have to get rid of them.”
