Diary of Victoria Anne Stratton; August 29, 2018

It rained all night when we buried our beloved leader Athena Dubois, it never stopped. There are two days of summer left, although tonight there was an unseasonal chill in the air, and as the heavy rain tumbled down, thunder rumbled, and lightning flashes lit up the dark sky. My bones were chilled not just by the cool weather, but also by the eerie, ominous atmosphere that has gripped us all.

Our Leader’s murder has highlighted the fact that this isn’t a game, this is a battle for survival. Our clan seeks revenge through retribution, so we will declare war on our enemies, our enemies who have an army more than three times the size of ours.

Athena was laid to rest alongside the other eleven great Leaders of this clan, and as I gazed at the plots, I was struck by a frightening thought; if we go to war, will there be anybody left to bury our new Leader?

After the ceremony, we noticed activity outside our gates, and our mortality dangles by a thread, because they are gathering, our enemies, they are gathering and setting up camp outside the Academy. Makeshift shelters have been erected outside our gates, and also on the property’s northern and southern borders. They are surrounding us, and we could hear them as they busily erected the shelters that would protect them from the new day’s sun. We will wage a war against our enemies, and from the way Livinia and the Hammers were talking, I suspect that the war is only a sunset away.
