After Being Cheating -
Chapter 373 Daniel Could Be So Good at Acting
Lola stopped smiling, and said, "Hey, you brat, is that the way to be talking to your mother?"
"I must correct you. As long as there is anything concerning about Jane, you favored her instead of me. Don't you feel embarrassed to say that you're my mom now? Lady Li, Mrs. Si!" said Daniel. It was easy to tell that he was only making fun of Lola, even though he was wearing a cool expression on his face when he talked to her.
Janet pinched his thigh under the table, and said, "How can you talk to your mom this way!"
Daniel reacted as if he had suddenly realized his mistake, and regretfully said, "Sweetheart you're right! Mom, I'm really sorry..."
Neither Janet nor Lola had ever known that Daniel could be so good at acting.
Lola had come to show Daniel what she would use as decorations for the wedding venue, but when she saw that Janet was also there, she had to leave the subject aside for the moment.
Daniel had told his mother over and over again not to tell Janet where the wedding would be held.
Naturally, Janet was very curious about the whole thing, and she sometimes was very annoyed by Daniel's utmost secrecy.
Since she could not talk about what she had come there for, Lola quickly found an excuse, and left.
As soon as Lola walked out of the office, Daniel held Janet in his arms and gave her a passionate lingering kiss.
"Let's continue from where we left off..."
"..." What a Casanova! "No! I have something to deal with, and I have to go," said Janet.
Daniel doubtfully looked at the woman, and asked, "Anything that has to do with the shop?"
"No! Alas! I'm sad to say that I might be the only bride in the whole world that doesn't have a wedding dress. Well, then I need to buy a... Wedding! Dress!" cried Janet.
She had come to his office to specifically talk about this matter, but other things interfered with her initial intent.
Looking at the aggrieved expression on her face, Daniel smiled, and said, "How could my bride be without a wedding dress? It's already been ordered."
It hadn't been finished yet, because hand embroidery took a lot of time before it was done.
Janet felt relieved to hear that. Anyway, she couldn't believe that he wouldn't prepare a dress for her.
She made fun of him, and said, "It's alright if you really don't want to buy me a wedding dress. I'll marry you even if I'm dressed in a plain sheet!"
Daniel laughed at her, and said, "You're pretty eager to marry me!"
Who had just furiously rushed into the office earlier?
"Of course! You're very rich, and I must marry..." she paused for a moment, and then continued, "your money."
Janet smirked and thought that she could piss him off.
But the man's reaction disappointed her instead.
Daniel played with her hair, and softly replied, "Okay, all my money is yours!"
"..." Janet was speechless. The rich man did whatever his heart desired.
When she left the company and arrived at the parking lot, before getting inside her car, she saw Shirley holding her self-belongings and walking out of the building.
Her colleagues gossiped around her and disgustedly watched her leave.
Roma started the car, but Janet stopped her, and said, "Wait for a minute."
She got out of the car, walked up to Shirley, and blocked her way.
"I heard that your parents are here," said Shirley. She had just heard some secretaries talk about this.
Shirley coldly looked at the woman in front of her, and found that Janet was becoming more and more beautiful and graceful by each passing day..."
"Get in the car, I'll take you home!" said Janet.
Shirley was confused, and she didn't believe that Janet could be this kind to her.
"No, thanks," she said. She refused without any sort of emotion in her tone.
'Janet just wants to gloat over me. Everyone in the company now knows that I was kicked out by Daniel, ' resentfully thought Shirley.
Janet winked at Roma, and said, "Take her to the car!"
Ignoring her struggles, Roma forced her inside the car.
On their way, neither of them spoke anything to the other. Shirley was anguished, while Janet just didn't want to talk to her.
Janet asked Roma to stop at a supermarket. She went inside, bought some things, and then put them in the trunk of the car.
After the white Mercedes stopped in front of an apartment block, Shirley got out of the car without saying anything.
Janet also got out, and asked Roma to take out the things that she had bought earlier from the trunk, and follow Shirley inside the building.
In front of the elevator
Shirley looked at Janet doubtfully, and asked, "What do you want?"
"Nothing special. I just want to go upstairs and talk to you, that's all," said Janet.
"I don't want to talk to you. My parents are also here, so please go back," said Shirley. Now that their friendship was destroyed, there was no need to flatter Janet anymore. Janet ridiculed her, and asked, "Which floor?"
Shirley refused to say a word.
As Roma walked inside carrying the bags with her, Shirley looked at her and had a bad feeling.
Janet didn't force her to say on which floor she lived on, but instead took out her phone and dialed Spark's number. "Spark, on which floor does Shirley live? ... Okay, thanks." Hanging up, Janet walked into the elevator and pressed the 13th floor button, despite Shirley's resentful gaze. Shirley had no choice but to follow her.
"Janet, what the hell do you want?" asked Shirley, annoyed.
She had already been kicked out of the company by Daniel. Why didn't Janet let her go?
Janet was waiting for the elevator door to open.
When they reached Shirley's apartment, she asked, "Will you open it, or should I knock?"
Shirley bit her lower lip, and resentfully said, "Janet, you are not welcome in my apartment. Please leave here at once!"
Janet sneered, and reminded her, "Your apartment? Don't forget that the apartment was rented by my husband! And everything my husband owns, also belongs to me!" She ignored Shirley and rang the doorbell.
Shirley's father was the one who opened the door. He looked at the woman, whose face seemed familiar, and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
It was normal for him not to recognize Janet, since they hadn't seen each other in over three years.
With a smile on her face, Janet said, "Uncle Zheng, how are you doing? It's Janet; don't you remember me?"
"Oh! It's you, Janet! Shirley, why didn't you tell us that Janet was coming? Please, come on in, Janet." Janet had saved their whole family, and Clay Zheng warmly welcomed Janet inside their home. After Janet put the bags of tonics on the table, Shirley's mother Fanny Wu came out from the bedroom, and asked, "Who's here?"
"Fanny, it's Janet. Come over here!" said Clay to his wife.
Hearing that it was Janet, Fanny came trotting with excitement. "Janet? Is it really you, Janet?" asked Fanny.
"Yes, it's me, auntie," said Janet, while she smiled back at them.
Shirley's heart started aching when she saw the whole scene. She knew that her parents regarded Janet as their lifesaver. The main reason her parents had also come there was to see Janet, but Shirley had turned down their request twice.
"Come here and sit down, Janet," said Fanny. She asked Janet to sit down on the couch. When she saw Roma, she asked, "Who's she?"
Janet introduced her, "This is my friend, Roma, " and after that, she was also invited to sit down on the sofa.
