Chapter 930

Finally, her phone couldn't help but ring again. "Ms. Wolfe, Donovan's illness really can't be delayed any longer. Where are you?"

"Oh, maybe another twenty minutes or so. This road is just too congested." Alondra's tone was still very lazy, neither urgent nor slow.

Mrs. Ritter felt her anger rising in her heart as she listened, but she didn't dare risk Donovan's life.

Alondra was the best surgeon in Urgford and there was no other option.

She could only suppress her anger and speak kindly to Alondra. "Ms. Wolfe, we're counting on you for saving my husband. I don't trust anyone else."

A hint of sarcasm flashed in Alondra's eyes but her voice was very gentle. "I'll urge the driver to hurry up."

After hanging up the phone, she sneered. "Now they know they need me? All those big shots and prestigious families in Urgford treat me with respect except for them - ever since we were young, they've been looking down on us sisters until now when they finally bow their heads?"

Alondra had a prominent position in Urgford's medical community that ordinary doctors couldn't compare with; who could guarantee that one wouldn't have some strange disease? Especially as one got older, their health deteriorated day by day; there were plenty of people who wanted to see her for treatment.

Especially the students she taught were all outstanding individuals who became leaders in the medical field.

So every year, many young people wanted to become research students under her tutelage; it could be said that it was a crowded field.

However, she only chose the best ones like Sabrina Aettosa - daughter of Secretary of State Aettosa.

Alondra continued to drag out time by eating a meal before slowly making it over to the hospital an hour later.

As soon as she stepped out of elevator, Mrs. Ritter greeted her with a pleasing smile on her face, "Ms. Wolfe, you came at last. Please take a look at my husband Donovan's condition."

Alondra nodded without showing any arrogance and seemed quite mild-mannered except for that smile which didn't reach into eyes, "You don't have to be too anxious. I'll first take a look at his test results and some aspects of his medical history. As for surgery, we will arrange based on specific circumstances."

After speaking, she walked towards chief physician's office.

She was just about to push the door open when the chief physician opened it and immediately exclaimed upon seeing her, "Ms. Wolfe, come take a look. The patient has a very serious carotid artery aneurysm and there is also some thick phlegm accumulating in his throat that cannot be suctioned out. If it doesn't improve, we may have to perform a small procedure to clear his throat."

After listening to him speak at an incredibly fast pace, Alondra's face slightly changed. It seemed that the condition was not as simple as she had imagined.

There was also a carotid artery aneurysm and intracranial bleeding in a very tricky location.

"Not only that, he also has coronary artery disease onset due to arteriosclerosis... So Ms. Wolfe, I planned on performing surgery on him but after seeing how many illnesses he has, I hesitated. Fortunately for us though, the patient's family requested for you specifically so we will transfer this patient over to you instead. With my abilities alone, I'm afraid I won't be able to save him."

The chief physician wiped away sweat from his forehead; if he couldn't handle such a difficult case, then his career would probably come to an end.

If handled well, it could be considered one of the high points of his career but for safety reasons, he decided not get involved.

Especially since this wasn't just any ordinary patient - Donovan Ritter was known throughout Urgford as head of the famous Ritter family - so for self-preservation purposes alone he decided it would be best if Alondra took over.

Alondra initially thought it was just regular intracranial bleeding and Mrs. Ritter being overly worried about nothing.

But after hearing about all these complicated conditions she too became somewhat annoyed; ever since she became famous she didn't really like performing surgeries because what if something went wrong? Who could guarantee they'd always hit their target?

Especially with Donovan who had multiple severe illnesses - one wrong move could set off everything else.

She hesitated slightly, but now that the chief physician directly told her that he couldn't do anything more than what had been done, then there wasn't much choice left for her either.

Inwardly thinking that if she couldn't even handle such complex cases, then who else in Urgford could? She felt somewhat proud of herself at this realization.

It was time for her true skills to shine through; she wanted everyone to know once and for all. old habits die hard and when it comes down medicine no one can beat Alondra!

After pondering briefly, Alondra said firmly to the chief physician, "Take me to see how bad things are with this patient first before deciding when exactly we should schedule surgery."

The chief physician didn't dare to delay and immediately led her towards the ICU.

However, he couldn't help feeling a bit uneasy.

Patients like Donovan, who had severe conditions, could easily become vegetative or paralyzed if there were any mishaps during surgery.

The worst-case scenario was that they would die on the operating table and never wake up again.

He could tell from Alondra's hesitation that she might not have a hundred percent confidence in saving Donovan either.

After bringing Alondra to the ICU, the chief physician immediately sent a message on Facebook to his former teacher Samuel, explaining the situation and expressing hope that medical forum expert "Wynter" would perform this surgery for a higher success rate.

Samuel was one of the doctors who helped Sylvia when old Mr. Bennett fell ill before and was also a member of Sylvia's medical forum.

Upon hearing how complicated Donovan's condition was and that Alondra would be performing this surgery, Samuel felt somewhat speechless. "Last time with old Mr. Bennett's illness, Alondra couldn't handle it properly and kept making mistakes while complaining endlessly. Now she comes out again to harm people?"

He always thought that Alondra did have some skills but also sought fame too much without being considered as a true expert.

"Wait for me; I'll talk to my boss at home right away to see if she is willing to take over."

At this moment in Townyer Villa Park where Larro and Franklin were having a picnic with Jasper, Evie, Brayden and Jenna, Franklin suggested inviting their uncle and aunt since only four of them seemed bored together anyway - Clare wasn't much older than him after all so there wasn't any awkwardness between them.

"Sure," Sylvia nodded in agreement.

The weather now was just perfect for outdoor activities under warm sunshine; it felt quite nice having picnics outside like this!

She called Clare then sent Mollie a message on Facebook since they happened to be together at the moment preparing to come over hand-in-hand.

Just as she hung up her phone though what caught Sylvia off guard was seeing someone familiar not far away - Cristal Chan who once loved Aldo but gave up eventually when unsuccessful pursuing him before becoming friends with Jenna instead of blaming her for anything!

This woman has a broad mind, which impressed Sylvia.

Cristal was with a man who had well-defined features but wasn't extremely handsome. He was also not very tall, around 176cm.

The way he looked at Cristal was full of indulgence as they walked hand in hand in the park.

What surprised Sylvia the most was Cristal's figure - her belly protruded obviously, indicating that she was six months pregnant.

Just then, Cristal spotted Sylvia too. After a brief shock, she broke into a bright smile and hurried over to her. The man beside her jumped in surprise and said, "Honey, slow down."

"Be careful and watch your step," Cristal replied with a slightly blushing face.

"Oh my gosh! You talk too much," she added playfully.

As she spoke, she arrived before Sylvia and said warmly. "Miss Andrews! Long time no see."

Sylvia smiled as she sized up Cristal. "You got married without telling me or Jenna? Congratulations!"

Cristal's face turned even redder as if feeling shy or embarrassed. "I heard you hadn't returned to Larro yet so I thought..."

Actually, deep down inside herself, she felt unworthy of notifying someone like Sylvia about such things.

The man next to her recognized Franklin Maskelyne immediately and his expression became somewhat awkward. "Mr. Maskelyne, hello there! I'm Kameron Moreno; we met at a bidding conference before." The Moreno family wasn't considered top-notch in Larro; it could barely be called second-rate compared to the Chan family which matched their status perfectly well.

Although Kameron didn't have Aldo's handsome appearance he looked reliable and honest, he was quite fond of Cristal. Although Sylvia looked beautiful standing there, his eyes were always on Cristal. Sylvia casually took off the jade bracelet from her wrist and put it on Cristal's wrist instead. The cool touch made Cristal startled. "Miss Andrews, what are you doing?"

"It's for your baby," said Sylvia smilingly, "It's not for you, so why are you nervous?"

"No, this is too valuable!" Cristal tried taking off the jade bracelet but Sylvia pressed hard against it."It's meant for your baby. Just keep it."

Cristal could only give up trying to take off the bracelet while tears welled up in her eyes. "Thank you, Miss Andrews."

She had always admired Sylvia...

Kameron quickly thanked Sylvia, "Thank you so much for this generous gift!"

"The past few years have seen the development of the Moreno family go pretty well, and it's said that it's all thanks to you returning from studying abroad and putting the family on track," Franklin looked at this man who was of average height and ordinary appearance. "Mr. Moreno, are you interested in collaborating? The Maskelyne Group is planning a project in the west side of town."

This was like a dream come true.

Kameron felt his head spinning. "Yes, yes, that would be amazing."

"My assistant will contact you later," Franklin smiled and reached out to wrap his long arms around Sylvia's slender waist. "We're going to have a barbecue here. Would you two be interested in joining us?"
