After Reborn, I Become a Billionaire -
Chapter 502 Apology
Chapter 502 Apology
Susan was also aware that there was a feud between them.
Anyway, they still worked in the same company. Thus, she deemed it necessary to make peace again.
However, every time she came to Manuel, she felt like being humiliated.
Gritting her teeth, she finally made up her mind. As a girl unconcerned about troubles, she wouldn't flinch even though she noticed that Manuel hated her. "What's the matter?" his voice sounded cold as if he was talking about business with any other people in the office.
Susan didn't respond. She walked over to put a bag onto his desk, "For your clothes."
Manuel frowned confusedly.
"I threw up on you that night after I got drunk. Don't you remember?" Susan looked a bit uneasy as soon as she recalled the embarrassing moment at that time. When she returned home and lay on her bed, she couldn't stop wondering how disgusted he might feel that night, since he was fastidious about sanitary.
Sleep seemed to evade her on the weekend, which was rare to see.
Her mind was filled with Manuel's disgusted expression.
So she finally determined to pick up some new clothes and bring them here to apologize to him.
"No, thanks. Just take it back." Manuel refused.
"But I have paid for them." Susan was irritated.
There was no need to be so mean to her, she supposed.
"You can ask for a refund."
"I am the lady from the privileged Phillips who never asks for a refund!"
"Not my concern." His voice remained cold while he was staring at her.
Susan gritted her teeth to glare back.
If it weren't for the fact that it was she who committed the mistake first, she would have smashed him with the trash bin.
Though she found him repellent in the past, it was the very first time she felt like beating him.
She struggled to hold back her burning anger, "I'll leave it here. It's up to you to decide whether to keep it or not. I have you compensated. And we are done about what happened that night." His expression remained unchanged.
Susan wanted nothing but to have a clear cut between them.
He knew Susan hated the feeling of owing anything to anybody.
However, it was not his concern to take her feelings into consideration.
Frankly speaking, he didn't replace himself responsible for her feelings.
Then he saw Susan turn away to leave after that.
She looked like she was afraid to see him refuse again.
With his lips pressed, Manuel took over the bag of clothes and dumped it into the trash bin nearby.
Susan looked back as soon as she heard it.
Then she saw the bag of clothes was too big to fit in the trash bin, and it slid aside. The trash bin also toppled down.
He dumped it without even paying it a glance.
Her mind was soon overwhelmed with madness.
Manuel made an internal call as if nothing had happened, "I need a cleaner here to deal with the trash." Trash?
How dared he say so?
With a twisted face, Susan walked over to grab the bag and then left in anger.
She should never have paid the visit for an apology. She must be out of her mind, she thought to herself. Manuel didn't deserve it!
She should have thrown up everything on him that night.
She should have puked right on his face!
Then the door was slammed shut.
Manuel took a simple glance.
But still, he held back what he was going to say.
Pissed off, Susan returned to her own office.
She must be crazy! That was why she tried to make up for it and apologize.
Her face went twisted out of fury, feeling like rushing into his office to punch him in the face.
But then the ringtone from her phone caught her attention.
As soon as she noticed it was a call from Henry, she took a deep breath to compose herself, "Hi, Henry."
Actually, Henry had planted spies to watch over Manuel and Susan. So whatever happened between them, Henry would be soon noticed.
Just a moment ago, he was told that Susan went to Manuel's office. Though he learned that Susan looked pissed when she left, it was still a piece of bad news for him to hear Susan come to Manuel on her initiative.
"Shall we have dinner tonight?" he proposed.
"But you have told me you are busy these days, haven't you?" Susan was a bit surprised.
Ever since the Sawyer Group's loan fraud was exposed, Henry, greatly guilty, had been working overtime to make up for his own mistake. So it had been a long time since they hung out to dine together. "It's a special day today," Henry explained.
Susan frowned and suddenly realized what he meant, "It's your birthday!"
She sort of knew it by heart a few days ago but she was too mad to recall it just now.
"Yes, that's right." He continued, "I've made a reservation. Let's hang out for dinner tonight."
"Okay. What gift do you want?" Susan agreed excitedly.
"Your companionship is the greatest gift for me." "Really?"
"Sure."
"Okay. If so, I am not gonna prepare anything."
"It's fine."
After a few minutes of sweet talk, Susan put down her phone, feeling much better. She would rather spend more time staying with Henry instead of wasting her time on Manuel while getting nothing in return but madness. From her perspective, Henry was her destiny in life. As for Manuel, she just needed to leave him alone.
Susan skipped work and left the office in the afternoon, which was quite common for the others in the office to see.
She headed for a high-end district selling customized suits in the mall, for she needed to prepare a big surprise for Henry's birthday. His words 'your companionship is the greatest gift' still echoed in her mind. What a conspicuous indication!
So she decided to make herself a gift for his birthday.
She picked up a sexy slip dress made of lace coupled with a snow-white mink coat to keep herself warm, under which she looked both cute and mature. The winter had already visited the city, so she got to dress wisely.
Her hair naturally hung loose on both shoulders. With the help of the stylists, she looked like an enchanting fairy. Her figure appeared perfect on a pair of black high heels inlaid with diamond chips. Though she wasn't the most ravishing lady in the world, her appearance and well-bred grace were excellent enough to make her stand out among the majority.
Her nice curve, coupled with her deadly charming face, could intoxicate most guys once she learned to keep decent silence.
