Chapter 17

Two months after Everly left.

Cassius had sent her a WhatsApp message.

The message was sent successfully, but it sank like a stone in deep water.

The message read: "Planning to sell the apartment, how should I deal with your clothes?"

Perhaps he had forgotten that Everly had left him a note, telling him to dispose of everything here as he wished.

Or perhaps he was just deliberately replaceing an excuse to message her.

Cassius might have thought this was him offering Everly a way back.

If she were smart, she should know to take the opportunity.

His temper might seem bad, but in truth, he was easily appeased.

Everly never replied.

Naturally, the apartment wasn't sold.

Everly's clothes and all her previous belongings remained untouched.

As if she had never left this place at all.

Cassius would often come here late at night after social engagements.

Then lie on Everly's bed, sleepless until dawn.

And in the third month after Everly left.

It was still the same unchanging deep night.

When the hour hand was about to point to twelve.

Cassius dialed Everly's number.

Everly was a very conservative and well-behaved girl.

Although her family background was ordinary, she never worried about food or clothing, and her parents loved her dearly.

But because she had been beautiful since childhood, her elders were very strict with her.

It wasn't until the autumn of her college graduation year that Everly began living with him.

He still remembered that night.

She was so nervous her whole body was shaking.

Every inch of her skin was flushed a burning red.

She was stunningly beautiful, beneath him, looking so fragile it made one's heart ache.

When it was all over, she cried hard, Repeatedly saying to him: "Cassius, you mustn't bully me, you mustn't bully me in the future..." "You have to be good to me, you have to marry me."

"Cassius... we'll be together forever, won't we?"

But that naive and innocent Everly who believed she would be with the man she loved forever, Had been lost by him for a long time.

So long that he could barely remember, What expression she had worn the last time they broke up.

Was she smiling and nodding, or were her eyes red with tears?

The phone rang for a while, and just when he thought she wouldn't answer, The call connected.

In that instant, he actually wanted to say, Everly, come back.

But when he opened his mouth, what came out was: "Everly, come back when you're done throwing your tantrum..."

His foolish and laughable words were interrupted by a man's light chuckle.

That laugh was like a sudden blast of cold, hard ice, Cassius felt as if his entire body was encased in ice, unable to move.

"Cassius, you can't delay in coaxing a girl, otherwise, someone might snatch her away halfway."

"Darius?"

Cassius uttered this name through gritted teeth, his eyes bloodshot.

"It's me, Darius."

"Where's Everly? Let her answer the phone!"

Cassius's eyes seemed filled with blood, alarmingly red.

He gripped the phone tightly, his low growl trembling: "Darius, if you dare take advantage of her..."

"She can't come to the phone."

Darius lowered his head, gently kissing his girl.

A tear still hung on Everly's eyelashes, her lips pouting, Though her eyes were closed, her face was written all over with grievance.

His heart melted uncontrollably, he kissed her eyelashes, sucking away that tear.

"I need to kiss her awake first."

"Darius!"

Cassius's voice cut off abruptly.

Darius ended the call and casually turned off the phone.

His kiss landed on Everly's slightly swollen lips: "Baby, wake up..."
