Chapter 20 Let’s Divorce

Everyone fell silent right then, astonished by what they heard over the phone.

Aiden had indeed spent ten grand to buy the bracelet. What was more, the bracelet was authentic.

As Aiden looked at their expressions, he sneered.

Initially, these so–called relatives wanted to belittle Aiden to make themselves look superior and mock him, but at this moment, they were no longer arrogant and smug; they could only act meekly.

The reunion ended on an unpleasant note as everyone left the place.

Once everyone was gone, Linda, who had been suppressing her fury for quite a while, turned hysterical. Just as Aiden was about to go upstairs, she roared, “Why don’t you go to hell, you son of a b*tch! Get this useless man out of our home! Now!”

By exposing the ginseng to be fake, Aiden humiliated Titan and put Linda in a tight spot.

Even a good–for–nothing could tell that the ginseng was fake. Since she and Harvey were unable to do so, wouldn’t it mean that they were worse than Aiden?

It wasn’t like Linda could make it clear that she was on Titan’s side.

Nonetheless, what truly infuriated Linda was that Aiden had spent ten grand on a gift without telling her. He must have obtained some benefits from the Thatcher Family.

Furthermore, the bracelet shattered after she stamped on it, so it was worthless now. She could’ve bought several luxury bags with the same amount of money.

Nonetheless, Aiden said nothing about the money and bought the bracelet.

As such, embarrassment wasn’t the only reason Linda was blowing her top. She also felt that Aiden was challenging her as the decision maker in this family.

“I told you to get lost! Got it?” Linda roared at Aiden. “I don’t want to see an ungrateful brat like you anymore. Get out of here!”

Harvey appeared helpless. He wanted to say something, but he decided to remain silent in the end.

Apart from the fact that Aiden’s cultivation base had been restored, he also learned to practice medicine. As such, he had become confident and calm.

Unlike his timid self in the past, Aiden refuted impassively, “I’m not in the wrong. I wasn’t the one who gave the fake ginseng to Mr. Gray, so you’re supposed to be chiding Titan for doing so instead. Also, didn’t you say I bought the bracelet from a street vendor?”

While faced with Linda’s glare, Aiden continued to say frankly, “Regardless of how discomfited you feel, you shouldn’t blame me.”

“Do you think I was so dumb that I couldn’t tell the ginseng was fake? I already realized it at first glance!” Linda growled. “However, I couldn’t possibly humiliate Titan in that situation.

“You couldn’t humiliate Titan, but you had no qualms doing that to me. You hurled the bracelet to the ground and stamped on it.” There was a hint of mockery on Aiden’s face. “Moreover, you accused me of buying it from a street vendor. It’s unfair to me.”

Angelina frowned. Once again, she felt that Aiden was different from his past self.

“So, what if I humiliated you? You’re just a good–for–nothing who leeches off of us!” Linda. snapped. “Are you even comparable to Titan? You know nothing but house chores. What right do you have to compare yourself to Titan, a manager at a multinational corporation? Do you know how many gifts Titan gives us every year?

Then, she pointed at Aiden’s face and yelled, “On the other hand, you stay in our house and make no money. You should feel honored that I’m even willing to humiliate you! Do you get it?”

In Linda’s eyes, Aiden was supposed to bear all the oppression and injustice. As long as he resisted, he would be considered rebellious and ungrateful.

Aiden only smiled in response and fell silent. Then, he turned to look at Angelina, hoping that she would stand up for him.

He wasn’t worried about falling out with Linda, but he just hoped that he wasn’t on his own at this moment.

He wanted to know if his wife would support him and that the time spent treating her well over the past three years was worth it.

However, Angelina only gave him a dispassionate look and said impatiently, “Alright, stop arguing. It’s getting late now. Apologize to my mom, Aiden. Regardless, my mom is your senior. As such, you’re in the wrong for making her mad.”

In the end, Angelina chose to side with her mother. “What are you waiting for? Apologize

now.

Harvey played along, saying, “That’s right, Aiden. Let’s end the argument here.”

Linda pointed at the door and barked, “I don’t want his apology. I want him to get out of our house right now!”

All of a sudden, Aiden stepped forward and said, “Let’s divorce, Angelina.”

“Sure,” Linda blurted. “Let’s-” She caught herself, feeling stunned. “What did you just say?”

Aiden repeated himself. “I want a divorce.”

A divorce?

Everyone in the house fell silent as they looked dazedly at Aiden. None of them expected him to say such a thing.

Linda initially thought that Aiden would probably fall to his knees and bawl his eyes out to seek their forgiveness like he used to do in the past.

After all, Aiden was unable to make any money. If he divorced Angelina, he couldn’t survive on his own.

As such, everyone was surprised that he wanted to divorce Angelina.

Apart from feeling shocked, they were also flustered upon hearing Aiden’s words.

A dumbfounded Angelina questioned, “Are you divorcing me?”

“Yes,” Aiden replied unenthusiastically. “I’ll only be an eyesore to all of you if I keep staying here. Let’s go to the city hall tomorrow and get the divorce done, Angelina.”

Angelina’s reaction earlier made him lose hope of sustaining their relationship.

She had never regarded him as her husband, and it was all his wishful thinking.

He had thought about giving up his grudges and spending the rest of his life with Angelina. They would probably have a child and raise it with care and love. As such, he had been putting up with all the injustice the entire time.

Given his identity as the former young master of the Finnegan Family, he could’ve applied for a managerial role at any company even if he knew nothing about medicine.

Nonetheless, he chose to give in to Angelina.

“Do

you want a divorce?” Linda finally came to her senses, and she was so furious that she started laughing. “How dare a good–for–nothing like you ask for a divorce? Who do you think you are?”

In the past few months, she had been trying to get Angelina to divorce Aiden, but her attempts had been unsuccessful due to various reasons.

There was no doubt she wanted Aiden to leave the Gray Residence as soon as possible. However, she had a change of mind now, for it was Aiden who proposed a divorce.

If they agreed to it, Angelina and the entire Gray Family would be humiliated.

“What right do you have to divorce my daughter?” Linda pointed at Aiden and snarled. “Without us, you’ll starve yourself to death in two days!”

Aiden looked calmly at Angelina and said, “Let’s divorce. I want nothing to do with family anymore. I’m fed up with all of this!”

your

Does he want nothing to do with us anymore? Linda laughed mockingly. “Sure, we’ll allow the divorce, but there’s a condition, though. You’ve been living off us for the past three years. Let’s say the cost of letting you stay here is 5,000 a year, so that would be 15,000 for three. years!

All of a sudden, she started yelling, “I’ll agree to the divorce, but you have to give us back the money first!”

Aiden asked impassively, “How should I give you the money?”

Linda sneered. “Since you’re so determined to get a divorce, I’ll grant your wish as long as you can give us the exact amount by tomorrow.”

She tried to push Aiden over the edge, for she was confident that he didn’t have that much money. “If you want a divorce, give us the money! I don’t care what you do, but you have to cough up enough money no matter what!”
