Chapter 6

I wake up in a hospital room with a mask so I can breathe. Being very impatient and annoyed by the noise, I take it off and throw it on the floor. I stand up and almost fall to the ground if two strong arms hadn't caught me. I don't know how long I've been here, but I don't intend to stay any longer. I grab some clothes and slip them on at breakneck speed. I don't remember much of what happened, but I do remember that Mattéo grabbed me by the neck and blacked out. I go out into the corridor to make sure there's no one in sight, then exit the bathroom. I don't want to go back to Fabien's pack, I want revenge on Sébastien, to make him suffer as much as he made me and the girls suffer. I want to kill him, his pack and his son. I breathe once I'm outside and start running for the forest, smelling like a lone wolf. When I got further into the forest, I saw a she-wolf drinking at the lake near Fabien's pack. I'm not going to attack her, her scent reminds me of something. I moved towards her when a branch cracked under my feet, and the wolf turned her head towards me and changed into a human. I handed her a change of clothes I'd picked up on my way out of hospital.

-I'm sorry I trespassed on your territory, but I had to drink some water. I haven't swallowed anything in over two days. -You're a lone wolf, aren't you?

-Yes, since my pack was destroyed 7 years ago.

About the same time I did.

-Me too. What's your name?

-Abby Dixon and you?

I was stunned, my eyes must have been the size of golf balls, it's not possible, everyone was dead! I take her in my arms.

-I missed you," I said.

We carry on talking about everything and anything, our lives from the tragedy to the present day. We arrive in front of my house.

-I'm going to introduce you to my soulmate and the girls.

She smiles at me and we enter the house, one foot inside, Fabien arriving angrily.

-What were you thinking? We've been looking for you for two hours, the hospital called and told me you'd run away. I've spent two f*****g hours looking for you!

I don't answer, push him off and enter the living room with Abby, all heads turned towards us. There were the girls and their dog and someone I didn't know, but who looked a lot like Fabien. -Let me introduce you to Abby Dixon.

The girls looked at me for a moment and threw themselves at Abby, an uncontrollable fit of giggles ensued.

-Easy, girls, I missed you too, but I'm suffocating here!

We stand up and the boys look at us as if we were aliens. The dark-haired guy who looks like Fabien approaches us.

-My name is Nick Brazeau," he says.

So there's the resemblance!

-Nice to meet you," says Abby.

She holds out her hand, and when their hands touch, they are overcome by a frisson and look into each other's eyes, saying: Mine and Mienne. Well, these are soul mates.

-Freya, into the bedroom at once," cries Fabien.

I don't think it's going to work, he's just used his alpha voice, it's clear, I'm dead.

-Well, it's been a pleasure knowing you girls, so don't forget me too much," I say, laughing.

-FREYA, screams my soul-sister from the bedroom.

We laugh and I go up to my room, thinking I'm going to gut him, what right does he have to talk to me like that? He's your alpha and your soul mate," Samantha says, "Not for real? I thought he was my father," I say ironically. Once inside, Fabien slams the door and locks it. What's his problem, what's he going to do to me?

He turns tomato red, maybe I shouldn't have. I give him my best smile, but I think that was the last straw. He slams me against the wall, holding me firmly by the neck.

-If you don't stop right now, I swear I'll brand you, right here and now," he says sternly.

And I swear that if you don't change your tone with me, I'll kiss your descendants good-bye.

He glares at me and a smile appears on his face. Why is he smiling, this idiot?
