Alpha Bond -
Chapter 9
Ella’s POV
Mountain looks irritated but doesn’t say a word as he walks me through the long hallway. The sunlight is filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows on the one side of the hallway, making it look spacious and bright.
The windows overlook a beautiful garden making my wolf wish to come out and run in this wide green field.
I will let you out soon, Blaze, then you can run all you want.
I try to pacify my wolf because I can sense her yearning and desire to be free.
This is the longest I have gone without shifting into my wolf. I usually let her out every night because she loves running at night; it makes us feel more connected to nature.
“This way, please.” He raises his hand in the left direction when we reach the end of the hallway.
What the hell is this place! A freaking palace?
Following his direction, I start walking in the left direction. Soon I replace myself standing on the top of the grand staircase, which leads to the hall.
As soon as my foot touches the last step, I feel a strange tug in my heart. And not caring about anything, I follow my instincts. I don’t even pay attention to my surrounding as I head in the direction where my heart is taking me.
There is something different about this pull, like someone’s pain is calling me. This feeling is even making my wolf agitated. She wants to replace the source of this pain and put an end to this suffering.
Soon I replace myself standing in front of a door while the pull which I felt earlier is suddenly gone. Frowning, I stare at the floor, trying to understand what the hell I have felt and what’s all this is going on with me.
Even Blaze seems as confused as I am.
Mountain stands beside me and guides me to the next door. He knocks on the door, giving me a side glance.
Masking my expression behind my neutral look, I step inside the room when Mountain opens the door.
Instantly, I felt a strong authoritative force trying to claim his dominance over me.
Raising my head higher, I look directly at the person while arching an eyebrow at him mockingly.
“Superior.” Mountain bows respectfully while the Superior keeps staring at me.
Annoyance is hidden behind his hard features when he notices my defiance. The silver in his hair and the wrinkles across his skin speak a lot about his age. However, he is not giving me any sweet old grandpa kind of vibes, so I will not let his old age fool me.
“I am Superior Burton.” He smiles but looks at me like I am someone worthless piece of furniture.
“I am Ella Whitmore, Future Alpha of Silvercreek pack.” Raising my head, I stand a little straighter and let my Alpha power slip into my words.
If he thinks he can dominate me, then he has another thing coming.
“A female, Future Alpha?” He scoffs a little as he shakes his head to himself. “Since when are females capable of leading?”
“It seems like you never traveled far from your place, Mr. Burton; neither someone kept you updated with the outside world.” Tilting my head slightly to the side, I smirk, “Because then you wouldn’t have been surprised to meet a female alpha.”
Although I actually wanted to tell him if he would have taken his head out of his ass, then he would have known how many she-wolves are leading their pack successfully. But since my mom’s human side taught me to speak politely with everyone. So I stick to politely burning him with my words.
“And I don’t think it should be that surprising because even our deity is a female. So if you don’t have any problem with her being our leading force, then you shouldn’t question the capabilities of any female alpha.” I shrug with yet another sweet smile of mine.
He grinds his jaws while shooting glares at me. His nostrils flare as he exhales, trying to keep his composure.
A part of me wants him to do something stupid so that I can show this Old Prune how much I am capable of handing him his saggy ass.
“How did you manage to replace Emmet’s whereabout when even we were not able to them?” Dropping his pretense, he glares at me. "Are you one of them?" He looks at me accusingly.
Wow! No pleasantries just coming straight to the point.
I am enjoying his annoyance way more than I should. At the same time, Blaze is ready to tear his arm off if he tries to attack us.
“Maybe I am someone who is more capable than you.” I give him a pointed look with a shrug.
“Girl, do you even know who you are talking to?” His eyes glow as he takes a threatening step towards me.
“The way you are acting towards me, I do not doubt that I am talking to a Superior asshole.” I glare back, not backing down.
Well, my mom’s wolf taught me only to be polite for the first time, but if someone continues to be a jerk, then deal with them in a way that they understand.
Ah, I love my mom. The funny thing is that mom is super maternal and pampering whereas, Wolfmom is more like a no-nonsense mother and a mentor. They both are extremely protective of us. However, wolf mom teaches us more fun things. It feels like we have got the best of both worlds.
“I am going to finish your worthless life for disrespecting me.” he partially shifts into his wolf.
“If you want to try, then go ahead, but then don't blame for the consequences,” I look at him calmly while fury swirls inside me.
"You are not aware of what I can do with you, stupid girl." His body shakes in anger, "I will make you regret even standing in front of me."
"Oh, I am so scared." A smirk plays on my lips, and then the fury I am experiencing turns into something dangerous as the thought of torturing him seems fascinating.
My canines elongate inside my mouth while my hands begin to turn into claws as Blaze comes forward.
"Calm down!" A new voice reaches my ears. And suddenly, a calming sensation washes over me.
To others, it may seem this voice is commanding. But I can sense there is no command in his tone but a request. However, what is surprising is that even though I haven't seen him yet, I know he is addressing me.
The hair on my neck stands as I feel his presence behind my back.
I feel calm at the same time, stronger than before, just because of this person.
Turning around, I come face to face with the person whom I have never met before. But it is more like I come face to face with his chest because he is almost as tall as Mountain. But you can call Mountain a giant, but not this guy because he is packed with lean muscles, from what I can see.
And I am already liking what I am seeing.
The muscles in his arms are straining against the sleeves of his shirt as he is standing with his arms crossed behind his back.
Slowly, lifting my eyes from his broad chest, I crane my neck up to see his face. There is a dusting of light stubble across his strong jawline while his lips are pressed together in a straight line. His curly black hair is trimmed short but what truly attracts me is his chocolate brown eyes.
Maybe I am craving chocolate. Perhaps that's why I am comparing deep brown color with chocolate. First that wolf, and now his eyes.
He is looking straight ahead, but the moment his eyes connect with mine, there is something familiar in them, making my heart race. Heat rises to my cheeks when his gaze roams over my face.
I can bet my life I know him, but I don't know how because I have never seen him before.
His icy expression shows nothing but harshness, but his eyes conceal a hint of warmth in them.
Suddenly, even while being away from home, I feel at home.
"Hi, I am Ella." I blink and whisper, trying not to look flustered by him. However, the truth is that there is a giddy feeling bubbling inside me for some unknown reason.
The corner of his lips subtly twitches upward in a secretive smile as he subtly bows his head.
Little Alpha.
A voice from my memories rings in my head, causing my eyes to widen in surprise.
