Alpha Queen -
Chapter 116
Liviana’s POV
I looked at myself in the mirror.
It’s the day before my princess coronation.
But today is an important days as well.
The day that I prove to everyone that I’m worthy of my title.
“Liviana?” Rainer knocked on the bathroom door.
“Give me a second” I said.
I washed my face and went out.
Rainer held Luke in his arms.
“You okay?” Rainer asked.
I nodded with a smile.
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?” I said as I took Luke from Rainer.
Luke wrapped his arms around me for a hug.
“Mama” he muttered.
I looked at him with a smile.
“Yes, baby?” I said.
Luke looked back at me with a pout.
“Mama” he said again and hugged me.
It was even tighter this time.
Like he didn’t want me to go.
I sighed as I hugged Luke.
He must be sensing it.
“Let’s go” I told Rainer and went out the door.
We needed to drop off Luke in his room with Kaley and grandma.
We made our way through the hallway and arrived at Luke’s room.
The guards opened the door and we came in.
Kaley and grandma were already waiting inside.
“Luke, baby. Go play with aunt Kaley and grandma while mommy is gone, okay?” I said as I gave Luke a k**s.
Luke looked at me with his puppy eyes.
I sighed.
I leaned my forehead onto Luke’s and smiled a little.
“Mommy’s going to be just fine, okay? I’m going to come back as soon as I can. I promise” I whispered.
Luke hugged me again and I hugged him back.
After a while, I gave Luke to Kaley.
“What are you guys up to today?” Kaley asked innocently.
I gave her a small smile.
“Oh you know. The usual” I said with a shrug.
Kaley chuckled.
“Let Luke and I give you a visit some time, okay?” Kaley said.
I nodded.
“Sure thing” I said with a small smile.
“Liviana, be careful, okay?” grandma reminded.
I nodded.
“Yes, grandma” I said and gave her a k**s.
I kissed and hugged Luke goodbye and left with Rainer.
We were both quiet as we made our way out of the palace to go to the training grounds.
I’m sure that Rainer wanted to stay something but he couldn’t.
We were almost out of the palace when Rainer suddenly stopped me by holding my wrist.
I looked at him with a questioning look.
Rainer just stared at me for a moment.
He wasn’t even saying anything.
“What?” I asked.
Rainer gulped.
“You don’t need to do this” he said.
I gave Rainer a small smile.
“I do need to do this, Rainer” I told him calmly.
Rainer shook his head.
“No, you don’t. It’s your birth right to be here in Halo. You don’t need to do any of this, Liviana” he said.
I held Rainer’s hand that was holding my wrist.
“Are you worried that I’ll get hurt?” I asked him.
Rainer sighed and looked away.
“I don’t want to ever see you in the same situation you were in when I found you for the first time. I can’t see you like that. I don’t want to see you like that” he muttered.
I smiled slightly.
In any other occasion, I would’ve been pissed at him because he seemed like he was overestimating me.
But I’ll give Rainer some slack.
He has never seen me in combat before and he’s seen me when I was at the verge pf death without even knowing what had happened to me then.
It’s only normal that he’ll be this protective of me.
“Do you not trust me, Rainer?” I asked him.
Rainer looked at me.
“Of course, I do. You know that I do” he said.
“Exactly. Then, just trust me. It’s not like I’m doing something that can cause my life, Luke. It’s just a little fight. And you’ll be there too. What are you so worried about?” I said.
“I’m worried about you getting hurt” he said.
“I’m bound to get hurt when I’m training, Rainer. It’s inevitable. It’s also a way for me to improve” I told him.
Rainer frowned.
“Also, you should get used to seeing me get hurt. There will come a time when you won’t be by my side to guard me and fight my battles for me like this one” I said.
Rainer looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed.
“Why can’t I? I’m not planning on going anywhere else but by your side, anyway. Why won’t I be able to guard and protect you? Why won’t I be able to fight your battles for you? I can do all that if I need to. So why won’t you let me?” he said.
I just looked at Rainer for a moment.
He was feeling worried, frustrated and anxious of the situation.
He’s this type of person to me.
Rainer is fearless.
But when I look at his eyes now, I can see fear.
Was it because of me?
“I want to guard and protect you and fight your battles for you. Can’t you let me do that?” Rainer said.
I gave him a small smile and moved closer to him.
I wrapped my arms around Rainer’s waist to hug him.
Rainer tensed up.
I placed my head on his chest with a smile on my face.
“I know that you can always guard and protect me, Rainer. I trust you with my life. I really do” I started.
“But I can’t let you fight my battles. I won’t let you fight my battles. I refuse to let you fight my battles” I said.
“Why?” he asked.
We were still in that same position.
“Because I’d rather let myself get hurt than see any of my loved ones get hurt. I can bear any kind of pain if it’s me. But I wouldn’t be able to take it if it’s the people I cherish in my life” I said.
Rainer and I were quiet for a moment.
I slowly pulled let go of Rainer and stepped back.
But Rainer pulled me again and hugged me.
He didn’t say anything.
He just placed his head on my shoulder.
“Atleast try not to get hurt so much. Or else I…I’ll need to come get you” he muttered.
I smiled and nodded.
Rainer raised his head again and sighed.
We finally went out of the palace and made our way to the training grounds.
From the distance, I can already see people by the training grounds.
When we arrived, they turned to look at us and bowed their heads in respect.
My eyes landed on someone.
Rainer’s father.
Rolan Black.
The reason why I’m in this situation right now.
Flashback…
“Rainer”
Rainer and I both turned to look at who called Rainer.
It was his father.
His eyes landed on me and I saw his eyebrows furrow.
“Pa” Rainer said.
“What’s her majesty doing here?” Rolan asked with a raised brow.
“She’s training” Rainer said.
Rolan looked me up and down.
I almost chuckled in disbelief.
He was being awfully obvious about his dislike towards me.
“Now why would her majesty need to train?” Rolan said eyeing me.
I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
“Because I want to. Is there a problem with that?” I said.
Rolan chuckled.
“Of course not, your majesty. It’s just that I didn’t think a princess like yourself would do something like training” he said.
I chuckled.
Then, I looked at him with a raised brow.
“That’s probably because you don’t even know me, Rolan” I said giving him a small smile.
I stepped closer to him and leaned forward.
“That’s why you judge me so easily” I said.
Rainer lightly pulled me back.
He gave us a confused look.
“Why are you guys being like this all of a sudden?” Rainer said.
I glanced at his father.
“Your dad hates me” I pointed out.
Rainer’s eyes widened.
“No, he doesn’t! Who told you that?” Rainer said.
I looked at Rainer’s father.
Rainer turned to look at his father as well.
“Tell her, Pa” Rainer said to his father.
Rolan looked at me dead in the eyes.
“I don’t hate you. But I don’t like you either” Rolan said straightforwardly
“Pa!” Rainer scolded his father.
I slightly chuckled.
“Liviana” Rainer said and looked at me with apologetic eyes.
“Don’t worry, Rainer. Your father is allowed to feel how he feels. I don’t mind at all. I respect that” I assured Rainer.
Then, I stepped closer to Rolan.
“He probably feels that way because he doesn’t know me at all” I said with a small smile.
I leaned forward a little.
“But not knowing me doesn’t make me a bad person, mr. Black. And not knowing me doesn’t make me a push over either” I said.
Rolan smirked.
“You talk big for someone who hasn’t proven anything, your majesty” he said.
I smiled.
“If that’s the only reason why you’re so against me, then let me change that a little bit” I said.
Rolan raised a brow at me.
“A match” I said.
“It can be any of your men. It can be you. It can even be both. It doesn’t matter. I’ll still take you on” I told him.
Rolan smirked.
“Aren’t you overestimating yourself there, your majesty? This is your first day training and you’re already asking a senior warrior for a match” Rolan said.
I chuckled.
“Like I said, Rolan” I said and smiled as I looked into his eyes.
“You don’t know me” I said.
Rolan’s smug smile faded.
“When will this match be?” he asked.
“The day before my princess coronation” I said.
Rolan smirked and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“And what do I gain from this exactly, your majesty?” he suddenly asked.
I chuckled in disbelief.
This old man, really.
“I’ll refuse to be crowned as Halo’s Princess until I’ve proven myself worthy of my title” I said.
Rolan smiled.
“Liviana” Rainer said and held my arm.
I only looked at Rolan with an expressionless face.
“Then, a match it is” he said.
Rolan and I stared straight in each other’s eyes.
I’m not going down without a fight.
End of Flashback…
Rolan turned to look at us.
He smirked when he saw me.
We’ll see who’ll be doubting who when this match ends.
