Alpha Queen
Chapter 125

Luan’s POV

I sat down on my swivel chair in my office.

I stared at the paper works for a moment.

I sighed and started working through them.

Work here.

Responsibilities there.

That’s how the past few months have been for me.

I haven’t been able to rest at all after my coronation took place.

I could have.

But then again, I didn’t want to.

Or I couldn’t.

I was trying to distract myself from everything else.

I was burying myself with work and responsibilities because that’s how I try to cope.

That’s how I try not to falk into darkness over and over again.

I had to keep living.

I had to stay alive.

I need to lead Lunar.

That’s the only way I can make up to Liviana for failing to protect her.

So I’m protecting her people instead.

That was my purpose in life now.

I know that my mate is no longer with is but she will forever have a place in my heart.

Inside of me, she’s still alive.

That’s all that mattered right now.

Nothing else.

I continued to work through the papers.

I had so many things to fix in Lunar.

Things that my father failed to fix lr even give attention to during his reign.

I didn’t expect anything from him but I was still disappointed when I saw everything.

He didn’t do much as a king other than show off his title and manipulate others.

It was that bad.

I sighed.

Liviana would’ve made such a great leader.

An outstanding Queen.

She would’ve attended to her people’s needs.

She would’ve provided for her people.

She would never be so selfish.

That’s how Liviana’s would’ve treated her people.

She would treat the with love and care.

I think she’s always been a warm person.

At first, she acted cold around me but somewhere in my relationship, I saw through her.

The act she put on to protect everyone around her.

A strong, unbreakable she-Alpha.

That’s the image she portrayed to others so they wouldn’t dare hurt her pack.

Liviana was good at it.

She was good with leading her people and protecting them.

She’d go above and beyond just to protect the people she loved and cared for.

I miss her.

I really miss her.

There’s no day that I don’t long for her.

Then, suddenly, I felt something warm on my face.

I lifted my head up and for a split second, I saw Liviana.

But she was gone as quickly as she came.

I stood up from my chair as I looked around.

I saw her.

I know I saw her.

Or was it just another one of my imaginations?

A hallucination?

But her touch.

I felt her touch.

I’d know my mate’s touch anywhere.

She was here.

Then, the door burst open and Beau came in panting.

My brows furrowed.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

Beau looked at me as he gulped.

“King Kale and Dante are gone” he said.

“What?” I said.

Beau looked at me sadly.

“They’re dead, Luan. Liviana’s father and uncle are dead” he explained.

I ftoze on my spot.

How?

Why?

What happened?

“What do you mean they’re dead?” I asked in shock.

“Rogues. We think it’s because of rogues” he said.

I clenched my fists.

“We were trying to replace them like you asked. But we were too late” Beau said.

“Where?” I asked.

“In an empty warehouse in a pack less territory. We found their belongings and their b***d and scent there” he told me.

“It appears that they were tortured and burned. We didn’t replace their bodies but we saw the materials used to kill them” he explained.

My heart clenched.

“Leave” I said.

“Luan” Beau said.

“I said leave!” I shouted.

Beau sighed and left the room.

I held on to my table tightly.

Then, I walked to the balcony.

I held on tightly to the railing as I closed my eyes in frustration.

“King Kale and Dante are gone”

“They’re dead, Luan”

“Liviana’s father and uncle are dead”

Those sentences repeated in my brain over and over again.

Like a broken record in my head.

They’re gone.

They were killed.

And I couldn’t save them.

Just like how I couldn’t save Liviana.

I screamed in anger, disappointment, sadness and despair.

I failed her.

Again.

I couldn’t protect the people she loved.

I couldn’t protect her.

Even when she’s gone, I still manage to fck up.

I still manage to disappoint her.

I still couldn’t do anything right.

I failed Liviana again.

Now, her father and uncle our dead.

Because we were too late.

Because I was too late.

Tears started to stream down my face and I screamed again.

I punched and kicked the railings in anger as I kept screaming in frustration.

No matter how much I try, I’m still not enough.

I fell to my knees as tears continued to stream down my face like a waterfall.

“Why couldn’t it just be me?” I muttered as I buried my face in my hands.

I stayed like that for who knows how long.

After that, I went out of my office and went down.

“Luan” Cassandra called as she stood up.

She was in the living room.

“Where are you going?” she asked as I passed her.

“Tell Beau to pack up. He’s going to Crescent Moon with me” I said.

“I want to come” she said.

I stopped and looked back at her.

“Please” she said.

I sighed and nodded.

“Pack up quickly. We’re leaving as soon as we can” I told her.

Cassandra nodded and left.

I made my way outside and went to get the car prepared.

I didn’t need to prepare anything to go to Cresent Moon.

I had a lot of my stuff there.

After preparing the car, Beau and Cassandra came.

“Let’s go” I said and got in the driver’s seat.

They nodded and got in.

Beau sat on the shotgun seat while Cassandra sat on the passenger seat.

I immediately drove away from the palace.

It would be the middle of the night when we get there.

“Give me your phone” I told Beau.

Beau immediately took out his phone ad gave it to me.

I typed in El’s number.

Then, I called him.

After a few rings, he answered.

“Hello?”

“El, this is Luan” I said.

“Oh Luan. What’s up?”

“I’m on my way to Crescent Moon” I told him.

“Really? Well, I’m not in Crescent Moon right now. I’m out doing something for Pa. Why are you suddenly visiting?”

I paused for a moment.

He didn’t know.

Maybe no one else knew yet.

I had to be the one to tell them first.

“I’ll tell you when I get there. You should come back quickly” I told him.

“That makes me a little nervous but okay. I think I’ll be back the next day before dawn”

“Okay” I said.

Then we ended the call.

I sighed.

I’ll have to break the news to them.

It has to be me.

No matter how hard it was.

After Liviana’s passing, King Kale and Dante went rogue.

They refused to believe that Liviana was gone.

I think everyone felt the same.

No one wanted to believe she was gone.

So they set out to replace her.

We all did.

But we stopped at some point.

But they didn’t.

Even I didn’t want to stop either.

But I had to.

I needed to.

We stopped over once to get a few things to bring to Cresent Moon.

I didn’t like coming there empty handed.

After we got the things we needed to bring to Crescent Moon, we continued the drive.

“Luan, do you want me to drive instead?” Beau suggested.

I shook my head.

“I’m fine” I told him.

Beau sighed and didn’t argue.

After a few more hours, we arrived at the border of Crescent Moon.

As soon as we arrived at the gate, I rolled my windows down.

The guard saw me and he bowed his head.

“Your highness” he said.

“Is Edmond and Dimitri present?” I asked.

“Yes, your highness” he said.

I nodded.

The guards opened the door for me and we went inside.

I parked the car in front of the pack house and I got out.

Edmond and Dimitri came out of the pack house.

“And to whom do we owe this pleasure, your highness?” Edmond said with a smile.

I slightly bowed to them.

“I need to talk to both of you” I said.

Edmond and Dimitri glanced at each other.

“Come in” Dimitri said and motioned me to come inside.

We went inside and made our way to the living room.

They motioned me to sit down and so I did.

“What happened? Is everything all right?” Edmond asked.

After a year of Liviana being gone, Edmond took her place as Alpha.

He didn’t have a choice.

Dimitri refused to become Alpha again.

He was too depressed to lead Crescent Moon.

Edmond was just as out of it.

He saw Liviana as her own as well.

She watched her grew up too and guided her alk those years.

Still, he did what he needed to do to keep the Crescent Moon from crumbling down after the loss of their Alpha.

I knew Liviana would’ve wanted him to lead Crescent Moon.

She trusted him.

I lowered my head.

“I’m sorry” I said as I clenched my fists.

“What is it, Luan?” Edmond asked calmly.

The tears started to stream down my face again.

I looked at them.

“They’re gone. King Kale and Dante are gone” I managed to say.

I saw how their face fell.

“I’m sorry” I apologized again.

I stood up and then got on my knees.

“I’m so sorry” I said.

Beau and Cassandra came in and saw the scene.

They came to my side.

They stood beside me and bowed their heads with me.

I failed them.

Again.

I failed as Liviana’s mate.

And I failed as Lunar’s King.
