Alpha Queen -
Chapter 23
Liviana’s POV
Alfred and Evelyn still looked at me in shock.
I’m sure they weren’t expecting that.
They had come here to see Luan and not me.
Yet, here I am.
“I thought only my father—I mean Dimitri was the only one who knew” I said confused now.
They snapped back to reality.
“He was the first to know, my lady, yes. But Dimitri could only do so much. At some point, the King had told us about your mother and her pregnancy. We never met her once in person but we knew about her and you” Evelyn explained.
It’s true.
I doubt the two men could do it all by themselves.
Alfred and Evelyn were on the sidelines too but my mother probably didn’t know it.
“We thought you….didn’t survive, my lady. After that night, your parents nor Dimitri never came back” Alfred said sadly.
It’s because my parents sacrificed themselves and Dimitri ran away to save me.
But I still had one question in my head.
“How did the council know about my mother?” I said.
“A spy came, my lady. It was too late when we realized it and the enforcers came” Alfred said with a sigh.
A spy?
I’d like to rip that spy’s throat out.
In fact, I’d like to rip the council member’s throat out.
“My lady, if you don’t mind us asking, how were you able to survive?” Evelyn asked carefully.
“My father—I mean Dimitri took me away with him to save me” I told them. They seemed relieved.
“You said something about being an Alpha of a pack, my lady” Alfred suddenly remembered.
“Yes” I confirmed and they looked at me in awe.
“You must be a good leader like your father then” Evelyn said. I smiled.
I must be.
“You mentioned earlier that you have retired” I pointed out. They both nodded.
“Do you have a family back where you came from? Or your mates?” I asked. They looked at each other and chuckled.
“We’re mates, my lady” they both said and held hands.
Ohhh.
“Do you have a child?” I asked curiously. They glanced at each other and shook their head.
“Unfortunately, no, my lady” Evelyn said with a sad smile.
Oh.
“I’m sorry” I said. They smiled at me reassuringly.
They would’ve made great parents, I’m sure.
“Alfred…Evelyn…” I carefully called out to them. They looked at me waiting.
“I’m sorry to tell you this but I can’t let you return anymore to where you came from. I fear that with what you know, both of you might be in danger” I told them carefully and they glanced at each other.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’d love to have you in my pack. I can protect you there” I offered and they looked at me with a smile.
“We’d love to be of service to you, Princess” Alfred said. I quickly waved my hand.
“No no. You will not serve me. I shall treat you both like any other pack member. I may be of royal b***d but I do not wish to be treated like one at the moment” I told them.
“I must also tell you that the only people who know of my other identity are both of you and Luan” I said. They nodded.
“My lady, Dimitri…where is he?” Evelyn asked.
My heart clenched.
“That’s also one of the questions I need to ask you” I said and they looked confused for a moment.
“You know the castle and kingdom well since you had served there in many years” I said and they nodded in agreement.
“In that case, you must know the different places that they keep the prisoners” I said. They nodded.
Good.
“Liviana, what are you thinking?!” Amaris snarled at me.
I pushed her back.
“I need the both of you to please help me locate some of these places” I said and they looked at me confused but dared not to question me.
“Liviana! No!” Amaris growled and I gasped as I felt her try to take over.
“Diana already told you that you can’t! You’ll be in danger” Amaris growled again as I struggled to keep her from getting the best of me.
“I want to save my family!” I growled back at her as I fell off the sofa as we both fought for dominance.
“Princess!” Alfred and Evelyn stood up and rushed to approach me. I held my hand up to stop them from getting closer.
This has never happened before.
Amaris and I had always agreed with each other.
I heard hurried footsteps coming down and I immediately felt Luan’s presence coming.
“You will save them in time! Do not be like this, Liviana! If you die, your parents’ sacrifices will become nothing!” Amaris growled at me.
I clenched my fists.
“Liviana!” Luan said in panic and ran to me. I shook my head at him to let him know to stay back.
“How do we know how much time they have left, Amaris?! For all I know, they are dying!” I hissed.
“Liviana, trust us please! I know how worried you are but if something bad happens to you, there will be no hope for the two territories to come together” Amaris said.
Why does it have to be me?
“Please, Liviana. Just wait a little more” Amaris pleaded and I gave in.
“Fine” I said and we both stopped our battle for dominance.
I panted.
I guess, no rescue mission to talk about today.
“Liviana” Luan said approaching me and helped me up.
“What happened?” he asked worried.
“I had a little fight with Amaris” I said lowly.
I turned to look at Alfred and Evelyn apologetically.
“I think my favor will have to wait another time” I told them and they both nodded.
“Favor?” Luan said looking at me.
I can’t tell him.
I’m sure he’d also disagree with me.
I have had enough people disagreeing with me for the day.
“I want to go home” I simply said.
