Chapter 28 (The End)

KRISNA

I watch the b***d drain from Ren’s face as he stares at his father. He doesn’t move or speak, but the fear reeks off of him. He is terrified of his father and for some reason I don’t know why.

“Well aren’t you going to say hi Renwick?” His father moves closer and Ren steps back.

“Renwick, what is wrong with you?” I whisper to him. I should be the one scared right now, this man is the devil. He is the one who killed my parents, but all I feel is anger. Before I can think, two more wolves move behind Ren and I notice they are the other males in his pack. All of Ren’s family.

They are dragging my males in front of them with sharp daggers to their throat. I’m not a kid anymore and am an Alpha and somehow I believe this is what he is here for. They know. How they knew is something that needs to be figured out sooner rather than later.

“What are you doing?” I snap. Kale is being held and so is Collin. Thorin is being restrained but I can tell that they aren’t really worried about him.

“Shut your f*****g mouth girl, same little bitch like your mother.” He sneers at me, his tone full of hate. “Renwick, did you not think I wouldn’t come for you? That my pack mates wouldn’t replace me?”

I turn my head to look at Renwick. When did he go see his father? He must have done it when I was captured. I know he didn’t do it for me, he did it for Juniper and Kale. I watch emotions pass all over Renwicks face and nothing comes out.

“Did he mate with her, Lucas?” One of his pack asks him.

I watch him sniff the air and he moves closer to me and when I back up, one of the pack mates shoves the dagger a little further into Collins neck and I freeze. “It doesn’t smell like it, which will be a bonus for later.”

My skin crawls with that implication and I back up further when Rens father grabs my arm. “Let go of me.” I give him a warning.

“Father let her go.” Rens voice sounds.

“No. Once we take care of business with this little bitch, she is mine and I will breed her.

Sheer terror races through me and for a moment I am transported back in time while running away hearing the screams of my parents. “Never.” I yank my hand away from him and my wolfs eyes flash through. This is his last warning.

I watch his l*p curl while he looks at me and the next moment he shifts and I do the same feeling sluggish. This feeling I am unable to shake. Rens father lunges for my neck and I dodge his attack by ducking and using my teeth to bite his front paw making him back peddle.

We continue to attack one another, his sharp teeth digging into my skin and mine doing the same. We are both fighting for something. He wants to keep me as his own personal baby making wolf and I need to survive. One of us is going to die.

When a loud roar sounds I turn to see Renwick shifting and coming at his father. My other mates have shifted as well and so has the other wolves. What I didn’t expect was the additional two wolves who must have been hiding. They come charging at Ren while I continue to fight his father.

We are both tiring I can hear it and I can see it in the way he moves. I know b***d is dripping from the wounds we inflicted on one another and from the sounds of the others it is happening to them as well.

A whimper takes my notice and I turn my head and next Rens father goes for my throat tearing a chunk of my throat. I am badly injured but not as bad as Renwick. I see him collapse in wolf form and fall to the ground. I howl and even Rens father stops to turn.

In the moment we both move over to him and I start to shift as does his father and the others. I don’t see Ren moving and his father snarls at the wolves. “You weren’t supposed to kill him, you idiots.”

Kill.. They killed him.

This can’t be happening not like this. My head is starting to feel light and all I can do is try and focus on the body in front of me. I lean down and listen to his heart which I don’t feel, I only get a moment before I am shoved rudely off of him.

“Get your f*****g face away from my son.” Rens father shouts.

I slowly stand and glare at him, trying to keep my hand on my neck. “You did this, you killed him.” I growl.

“Krisna come here.” Collin grabs me and moves me away from Rens body. “You’re neck love.” He runs and grabs his shirt and presses it to my neck but all my eyes can see is Rens body laying lifeless on the ground.

“Take him.” Rens father screams and I move forward again, getting dizzy.

“Don’t touch him.” I try and speak to him but I start to pass out.

“This is not over and I will be back, and this time I’m not going to lose.” I start to fade as I watch Lucas men pick up Renwicks body and they start running the opposite way. I start to cry and scream out before everything goes black.

Waking up to the beating sun I still feel pain but I know by now my wound has healed. Of course it would. I feel hands in my hair and smell the scent of sorrow in the air. Opening my eyes I see Collin and turn my head and see Kale, but no Thorin.

“Where is Thorin?” Kale looks at me and he doesn’t even have to answer I know by the look on his face.

“He left. He was Rens Beta and he won’t leave him now and Rens father allowed him to go.” Kale lowers his head again and I watch the tears fall in his eyes. This was not what I wanted, I just wanted to have my mates and be loved and if I could change it all I would.

“We need to go after him.” I start to sit when Collin puts his hands on my shoulder.

“There is no point love, we have to continue our journey to Juniper and Alore and Ruse. They need us now.” I don’t resist and I lay my head back down in his lap, needing his touch. I reach over and hold my hand out to Kale and he looks at it and ignores it.

“I can’t right now Krisna. This would never have happened if we wouldn’t have been your mate.” His words strike a cord and I feel it in my heart how much he is hurting and how angry he is with me. There is nothing I could have done to prevent this from happening.

“I’m sorry Kale.” I don’t say anything more, not when I know he won’t listen to me. All I know is I will be getting Thorin back along.
