Chapter 31

As soon as Ashleigh left the field, I was on high alert.

I knew she was here to be with her friends and brother, but I couldn’t help but feel a little smug every time she looked my way. I could feel her eyes on me every damn time. Ashleigh was sitting there all beautiful in skinny white jeans and a red singlet top with a leather jacket.

She had taken off the jacket as her back faced the sun to capture the warmth. The struggle to want to go and claim her was so very real, especially when she was there teasing me the way she was. I saw some guys from both sides looking at her and talking. They were definitely interested in her, but all of them knew she was waiting for her mate, and now she had turned of age, the race was on to see who would claim her first.

Little do they know! already have.

Every day I preen when I see that shiny little item tucked away in her hair, so f*****g satisfied even though no one knows yet.

It’s always worth it.

I let Danni and the others know I needed to take a piss and head in the direction of the school, following her scent.

I replace her fiddling through her locker. She’s in a daze as I stalk up to her, startling her as I pin her to the locker.

“You have been very distracting to me this afternoon, sweetheart,” I growled.

“Huh, I don’t know what you mean.” She whispers, blinking at me like a deer in headlights, her eyes wide with confusion.

She can play innocent all she wants. I know the bond affects her also.

“Sending me dirty looks and being there in general,” I grumbled, picking up a strand of hair and toying with it.

“Did you not want me to come here?”

“Not when others look at you the way they do.” My possessive side started to show as Jace pushed forward in need to claim our mate.

I try to focus on our conversation and keep Jace at bay. I don’t want to scare her off by being too aggressive, but at the same time, I can smell her ar0usal circulating, she’s f*****g enjoying this as much as l am.

I take my chance and close the gap between us. She lets out a small gasp as my lips clash with hers.

I have wanted to do this all f*****g day. I just haven’t had the chance to get her alone.

Her hand moves up the back of my head, grabbing a fist full of my hair and tugging at it as I guide her deepening the k!ss.

Out of all the k!sses I have had in my lifetime, k!ssing her is like nothing I have ever experienced. Tingles flew around our bodies. Jace kept pushing forward and wanting to claim her. I thought at least if I was able to have some contact with her, he would calm the f**k down. I guess I was wrong. It just wants him to want her more.

I gr0aned as she swung one of her legs around my waist, looking to be lifted again. f**k my luck. This will be the second time l’ll get blue balls in the last 24hrs.

She g*****d and pulled away as she did. I saw her eyes glaze over. “I’m sorry, I forgot the girls were waiting,” she mumbled, a bit out of breath.

“What are you doing tonight,” I asked, leaning in to k!ss her neck where I would mark her. A shiver moved through her body as I did.

She sighed and moved back to collect her things from the locker. Seeing how flustered she was, a smug smile was left on my face.

“I’m staying at Chloe’s tonight. Oh, she is having a party on Saturday, and Ollie said he would check, but you guys should come along. It would be good to see how things go in a not-so-formal environment.”

I tilted my head, ” you want me on your pack land?”

Her eyes snapped back to mine at the comment. “Of course, why wouldn’t l1? l understand our pack history, but at the end of the day, you are my mate.” She shrugged.

‘she’s finally admitted it out loud, Jace yelled, prancing around in the back of my mind like a love-sick puppy. I couldn’t help but grin at the admission.

Her eyes rolled as she saw my face change. She threw her bag full of schoolwork over one shoulder and turned around to head back to the parking lot.

“Excuse me?” I said, folding my arms acrosss my chest and raising an eyebrow.

“What?” She asks, putting the innocent face on again, battering her eyelashes.

“Well, can l at least get a k!ss if I can’t be with you for a few more days,” I demanded, tapping my cheek. I had no intention of letting her go that easily.

She blushed furiously, and the smell of her ar0usal started to become prominent again.

My voice was husky as I leaned into her. I knew my eyes were dark as Jace pushed forward, wanting to claim her, ” I don’t know what you are thinking about, sweetheart, but if you don’t want me to take you right here at school, I would suggest you stop while you are ahead.”

Ashleigh let out a small giggle, quickly k!ssed me on the cheek, and took off towards the school parking lot.
