Alphas Broken Mate
Chapter 77

Catalina's POV

I lay in bed and close my eyes. I calm my mind and I drift off to sleep. I wake up surrounded by grass. I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin and a cool breeze. I sit up and look around. I'm surprised to see I'm at the top of a cliff. Behind me is a line of trees and in front of me is the edge of the cliff. The cliff looks over a barren valley. No trees, no grass, nothing but dirt.

"Hello?" I say. I hear the echo over the empty valley. Where am I? Where is the Moon Goddess?

"Kehlani?" I say. Her name echos across the valley. No reply. What do I do now? I look to see if there is a way down from the cliff, but I don't see a clear way. Just great, where is a god's help when you need it? I take a deep breath and sit down. Well atleast I'm sleeping. Maybe the Moon Goddess isn't here yet.

"Lina."

The wind blows a whisper through the air. I look around hearing my name, but I don't see anyone.

"Lina."

There it was again. This time I stand up. Someone is definitely here.

"Hello?" I say.

"Lina" a voice comes from the trees.

"Moon Goddess?" I call. I see her coming out of the woods. I rush over to her.

"Moon Goddess, where have you been?" I ask.

"I'm laying low dear. Banishing a God as powerful as Zeus can bring unwanted attention. What am I doing here?" She asks.

"Kehlani. She is using our connection so I can talk with you." I say.

"Is she alright?" She asks. She is really staying low if she doesn't even know how Kehlani is doing.

"She's fine. It's Andrew. A spirit is trying to take over his mind. A spirit named Dolus." I say.

"Dolus. Oh Lina I'm sorry. But how can I help?" She asks.

"Kehlani believes we can make a deal with him, in exchange for you making him a god with a real form." I say.

"Oh Lina I don't know. Making a deal with Dolus is like making a deal with the devil. He is tricky and you have to be very careful with your wording." She says with caution.

"I know, we have a plan for that as well." I say, which isn't a complete lie.

"I will help you Lina. It is the least I can do." She says.

"Thank you. And Phoebe. I'm not sure what is going on between you and Kehlani, but she misses you." I say.

"Lina. Thank you." She smiles at me and before I know it I'm awake in my bed. Kehlani is still there staring at me.

"Did it work? Was the Moon Goddess there? Did she agree to our plan?" She asks.

"Yes, yes, and yes." I say with a smile.

"Great the last thing we need is Lilith." She says.

"What do we need Lilith for?" I ask.

"She is going to help us with something called The Serpent's Deal. It's how we are going to keep him from going back on our deal." She explains. I have no idea what that is but whatever it takes. I pick up my phone and notice it's 3 am. "Umm it's 3 am. Can we wait until the morning?" I ask

"No Lina. Call her." She says.

"Ok ok just asking." I dial Lilith.

"Hello?" I hear Lilith's surprisingly awake voice on the other end of the phone.

"Hey Lilith. I'm sorry if I woke you." I say.

"You didn't. I'm always up for the witching hour." She says. I didn't know they had their own hour.

"Oh well that's good. I called because Kehlani has a plan to save Andrew, but she needs your help with something called The Serpent's Deal." I say.

"The Serpent's Deal with Dolus?" She asks.

"Yes, can you help?" I ask.

"I can, but I'll need the help from a few of my sisters. I'm not powerful enough to do it alone." She explains.

"How long will it take to gather them here?" I ask.

"A day or two."

"Ok thanks. We'll make a plan so when they get here we'll be ready."

"Alright Lina. I will meet with you tomorrow. We need to come up with the correct verbiage."

"Ok see you tomorrow." I say and hang up.

"She needs help with the spell. She is gathering a few of her sisters to help perform it." I tell Kehlani.

"Good. The next step is the offer. You need to go see Andrew again and this time you need to draw out Dolus. When you do, you need to give him our offer. See what he says. If he doesn't take it then we need to think of something else he wants. If he says no, try and probe him for information." Kehlani says.

""Alright. I will go first thing in the morning." I say. She nods in agreement.

"I will return to you tonight. Be careful with Dolus. Be careful what you say. He is tricky."

"How do I draw him out?" I ask.

"Just call his name. Like any spirit he is proud. He likes to be recognized." She says.

"Get some sleep Lina." She adds. Then she was gone. I lay back. We will fix this Andrew. I think before falling back to sleep.

When I wake up again, it's well into morning. My wounds feel so much better, I can stand on my own and I'm only slightly sore. I get up and go to the bathroom. I wish I could take a bath, but until my wounds aren't completely healed yet. The doctor says only sponge baths are allowed. When I walk out of my room, I'm surprised to see Lilith waiting for me at the table. She is reading a book and drinking coffee. When she sees me she puts her book down.

"Good morning dear. Would you like some coffee?" She asks.

"I would love some." I say. She gets up and gestures for me to have a seat. I make my way to the table and take the seat next to where she was sitting. I look over to see what she was reading. It's a spell book.

"It's a grimoire." She says.

"A what?" I ask.

"It's a book of spells. Kind of like a witches cookbook. I'm looking up The Serpent's Deal. I've only done this once a long time ago. It's not a typical spell. It's old magic. I was surprised you mentioned it, but the more I think about it's the perfect spell." She explains. She walks over to me with a cup in her hand. She places it in front of me.

"Thank you. Why is it perfect?" I ask.

"Because of how old it is, there is no way around it. This spell is very specific, which I believe is why Kehlani picked it." Lilith explains.

"I need to go see Andrew this morning. I need to make an offer to Dolus. To see if he will even except it." I tell her as I sip my coffee.

"I'll go with you just in case." Lilith says. I finish my coffee.

"I'll go get dressed and then we can leave. I want to go before Jet or Rachel show up. They might try and talk me out of it." I say as I slowly get up.

"I'm surprised I didn't replace Jet here already." She says and then looks up at me over her coffee cup.

"We're just friends." I say blankly.

"I didn't say anything."

"Mmhhmm"

"Do you need any help?" She asks.

"Not sure. I just need to take it slow, my body is still healing. I'll let you know." I say and make my way to the bedroom. I pick out a dress to wear, it's the easiest thing to put on. I come out of the bedroom and Lilith and I head out of the apartment. When we get to the cells we stop in front of Andrew's. He sits up on his bed and looks at us.

"You shouldn't be here." He says. His words hurt. Doesn't he miss me? Doesn't he love me?

"We aren't here for you." Lilith says. I could tell her words hurt him.

"We need to talk to Dolus." I say, trying to sound firm.

"That's not a good idea Lina." He says.

"Dolus! Come out here." I ignore Andrew's warning. Andrew closes his eyes and throws his hand to the sides of his face. His whole body tenses and then relaxes.

"Well, well, well. Look who's alive." A voice came out of Andrew I have never heard before.

Flashback 3 months ago.

Andrew's POV

I can't believe she has been asleep for a month. I'm still not getting any sleep and my daydreams are getting worse. I'm in the hospital listening the the machine monitoring her heart. My father walks in and sits down next to me. "Andrew." He says. His voice is caring but a bit stern.

"Yeah Dad."

"We are implementing the visiting hours." He explains. I turn to look at him.

"What? Are you serious?" I ask. He has to be joking.

"Completely. You spend 20 hours a day here. You barely eat or sleep. You are killing yourself son. This isn't healthy." My dad says.

"She is my mate. What am I supposed to do? Just carry on like nothing's wrong?" I stand up. I'm so mad I want to punch something. I start pacing in the room. "Andrew you have a whole pack that needs you." He says as he stands.

"Remember when she was at Winter Stone Pack, you kept being the Alpha even when she was gone." Rage filled me at the name of that pack. I let out a low growl. "Don't ever bring up that pack again." I say.

"Andrew you have a responsibility to your pack." My dad says. I growl and rush over to my father. I pin him up against the wall by his throat. I see nothing but red.

"ANDREW!" I hear a voice from the doorway drawing my attention. I come back to reality and release my father. I turn and see my mother with her hand over her mouth in shock. I have never been physical with my father before, hell we've never even fought before. "Dad.. I'm sorry." I say looking at the ground.

"Son you need to get yourself together. The visiting hours start tomorrow. You won't be able to hide in this room any more." He says sternly. I feel like a child that has been grounded. My father walks out of the room taking my mother with him.

"So you are going to listen to daddy?" I hear a voice in my head that is not my wolf's.
