ALEXANDER
“Miiiikkkkkkeeeeeee...” The man flinched, instantly turning around towards the source of thatsudden whisper.
Nothing. Darkness occupied every inch of space in his surroundings. The only thing aiding him tosee his path was the little flashlight
His brows furrowed, hands and knees visibly trembling as he spun around to face the front onceagain.
Fuck.
The thing was right in front of him all along. Hiding in the pitch-black corner where..."AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!H!H
Okay, that's it.
Closing my eyes firmly shut, I gripped the edges of my seat, desperately trying to tune out thepiercing screams forcing their way into my eardrums.
I give up. I knew this was a bad idea, but my wolf insisted on it. Saying girls like watching horrorstuff.
For what?
I forced my eyes open to the ridiculous long-haired old woman wearing a long, dirty wedding dresscovered with blood.
All of a sudden, someone nudged my arm and I flinch back to my seat, only slightly.
I turned my head, only to see Eleanor staring up at me in wide-eyed disbelief. Apparently, she washardly able to manage her bursts of laughter as she placed her palm over her mouth. Humoroustears welling up in her eyes as she shook her head at me. Her eyes reflecting a hint of amusement inthem that I just couldn't ignore.
"What?" I ask irritably. Raising one of my black brows at her as tensed up in my seat.
Pressing her lips into a firm and thin line, she closed her eyes for a short moment before uncrossingher legs in front of her. Bringing her gaze back towards the scene playing loudly.
“I just can't believe that such a powerful alpha like you could get scared of things like these,” Shewhispered. Keeping her voice as low and quiet as possible while fixing her eyes on the screen.
I stared at her side-profile for some time. My firm gaze softening as I studied the amusedexpression on her beautiful face.
I then let out a soft chuckle, reaching my hand towards her swiftly before lifting her chin. I wantedher to look into my eyes while I give the answer to her question. Leaning my upper body closer, Iwhisper huskily to her ear,
“You're right, I am afraid. I'm afraid of a lot of things. But most of all...” I watched closely as her eyessparkled with what seemed like lust mixed with an intense, fiery passion and desire burning all whileshe stared into me, reaching even to the deepest, darkest shadows of my soul.
“I'm afraid of losing you,”
And it was no pretty lie. The scariest thing in life is watching someone you truly love die before yourvery eyes. Watch with eyes wide and fully open as they heave out their last and final breath on thiscruel earth.
She blinked for a few seconds. Delicate, rosy cheeks slowly blooming on her beautiful face, makingmy heart skip a beat at the beauty of the sight.
Eleanor’'s hand was clenched around the arm of her seat as she looked up at me. Shock and extremeembarrassment flashed in her natural, blood-red eyes. She licked her dry, chapped lips wet andclean before she let her gaze settle directly on my face.
Now all of a sudden, Eleanor has gone quiet.
She looked at me in a way I had never seen her look at me before.
What changed? I thought.
My body almost jumped at the feeling of her fingertips brushing gently against my chest, onlybefore I realized she was trying to push me away.
My wolf whimpered, yet I ignored the pain stabbing at my heart as I followed her indirect order.Another hour passed and we walked out of the movie theater house side by side. Heading to mylambo parked in the middle of two SUVs, we hopped into our car seats in silence.
"Alex?"
I turned to face Eleanor who was staring at me with two sparkling blood-red eyes, and I felt like myheart couldn't stop pounding like a large, heavy drum inside my chest.
“I just want to say, I'm really sorry for what had happened in that war ten years ago. You must havebeen severely traumatized...”
Eleanor says, dropping her eyes to her lap.
Is this why she suddenly went fell silent a whole hour ago? She was feeling guilty for my loss?Shaking my head aggressively, I gripped the balls on her shoulders. Her head instantly snapped upto look at me straight in the eye.
“I was, but that doesn't mean I'll continue being weak for the rest of life. Trapped in the same scenefrom the past over and over again until it's the only thing that gives meaning to my life. And I'll tellyou this, Eleanor.”
I cupped her cheek while she rested her head on the head rest right behind us.
“I won't. Now that I have you as a mate,” I added.
Eleanor’s face reddened, avoiding my eyes that pierced into her ever since she entered that cardoor.
“So where should we go next?” She asked, still acting stubborn to not meet me in the eye and Igiggled heartily, seeing that my mate had suddenly acquired an interest in the places I wanted totake her afterwards.
I arched my lips upward before saying,
“You'll see.”
Turning on the ignition, I gripped the wheel before speeding off into the driveway.
At approximately thirty minutes later, I stopped the car

At approximately thirty minutes later, I stopped the car, pulling up
on the available parking space at The Rabbit Hole Music Lounge where me and Veronyka and Elijahused to chill.
I flashed Eleanor a smile before getting out of my car and rushing to open her door, and shestepped out timidly while her eyes scanned the entire area surrounding us.
This time, 1 no longer held back. Reaching for her hand, 1 locked her fingers with mine, intertwiningthem tightly together before pulling her towards the glass door. As the door slowly opened, thepleasant sound of bells rang above us, signaling our entrance to the two older women stationedacross the counter up front.
I tugged at her hand, and we sauntered over to them when they snapped their eyes towards ourdirection.
“Tina, Lola.” I stated expressionlessly.
“Alexander!” They both squealed. And I cringed at the moment they bit their lips as they examinedmy new look fresh out of the barber shop.
“Is it really you?” Tina squinted her eyes but her speculation soon came to an abrupt end when Lolanudged her hard on the arm.
"Of course it's him. Who do you think place belongs to, huh?” Lola asked, only too sarcastically.
It was at that moment that Eleanor eyed me with two curious eyes, spiraling in amusement as wellas awe.
I shoot Eleanor a wink to which she responded with a light gasp.
"Give me the keys to Room 19 and bring food there by 12 noon.” I instruct them and they followquickly. Handing me over the keys to the largest and coziest room we have.
I led Eleanor to our room. Pushing the door forward, I flicked the lights open and gently pulledEleanor in alongside me. Thereafter illuminating the room with neon blue lights. White and glassfurniture spread orderly across the room, under the glowing neon blue lights which create cool, night time chill vibes as we entered.
I noticed Eleanor glance at the song book lying flat on the glass table right in front of a snow-whiteelegant sofa. A huge flat screen sat on a white, wooden television cabinet across the sofa and aremote laying right beside it.
Grabbing the remote, I motioned for Eleanor to take a seat close beside me. She went still for amoment while I sat there and took in her appearance.
God...
Eventually she decided to do exactly as I say and reluctantly looks into my eyes.
“What are we doing here?” She asks.
“Having fun, perhaps” I smile at her, reaching over the table and flipping over hundreds of pages onthe song book.
“Do you have any song requests?” I ask without glancing back at her.
“Not at the moment,” She replies. I can feel her eyes trail down my body. Apparently my wolf lovesthe attention our mate is giving us at this moment.
“Don't act like you don't enjoy it yourself, too. Asshole’ I rolled my eyes at Loki’s hasty comment.Nevertheless, I nodded and continued to hunt for a really good song among hundreds of songslisted. One caught my eye, making the corner of my lips curve upwards, forming a soft smile. Iquickly entered the song code and the song immediately popped up in the tv screen.
The microphone was lying on the table across me and I grabbed it instinctively. Standing upheading towards the small stage under another set of neon blue lights serving as my only spotlight.“This is song is for you, pretty princess”
Soon, the background music began to play the instrumental of the song, She Will Be Loved byMaroon 5. I never took my eyes off my mate as I stumbled over the lyrics and belted out the chorus, making her laugh and give me a standing ovation by the time I was finished.
“Your turn,” I waggled my eyebrows at her, giving her the microphone in my hand.
A flush crept up her face and she bit her lip.
Fortunately, I was able to convince her to sing at least one song she had in mind. She took the songbook hesitantly and began skimming over the pages, until she stopped. Her eyes lingered on onespot for a brief moment before her head snapped up and entered the code of the song on the tvscreen.
Walking towards the stage, I can see her hands tremble as she gripped the mic.
I leaned back against my seat, crossing my arms against my chest. Soon the music played. I neverheard this song before. The rhythm was slow but it had a sweet melody to it. A song that suitedEleanor perfectly in my perspective.
“I saw you for the first time
Thought you were just an illusion
But you light up my world like the moon
Dancing through the night, making it all alright...”
I fell in love with her voice right at that moment she opened her lips. Despite the loud yet soothingmusic playing in the background, I could still hear my heart thumping rapidly inside my chest, reverberating through my eardrums and that soon blended with Eleanor’s beautiful song.
“I wish I could stay with you “til dawn breaks
You see fate pulled us together, to tear us apart
A great storm is brewing, but always remember
I love you from the bottom of my heart”
The song ended, but Eleanor didn't move an inch from her spot. She looked at me and I looked ather with the same intensity and passion reflecting in both our scarlet and cerulean eyes.
The words in her song kept playing on repeat, and despite how many times I try to shrug it off, I justcouldn't get every single word off my mind.
