ELEANOR

"Don't... leave..."

Stopping on my tracks, I whirl around, my body shaking as I did. I feel my heartbeat skyrocket as Isweep my gaze across the room before settling on his face.

What the—

He's asleep? It appears he was just mumbling. But hell do those words hit me to the bone.

I crouch down and move closer towards him.

He was so handsome, I hope I could engrave the image of his face deep into my mind.

Sighing, I shake my head while I scold my stupid self.

Who am I kidding?

“How could I ever forget you, I thought to myself, wishing I could utter those words out in front ofhim but obviously I can't.

Raising a finger gently to his forehead, I trace his features one by one. From his eyebrows down hisfull perfect lips, I let my fingers trail slowly and carefully as I feel every inch of him beneath myfingertips.

But then he groaned and I jumped in my spot, scurrying away as quickly and stealthily as I can until Ifelt my back hit the wall. The door was just within my reach located at my right.

When he didn't move, I let out a sigh of relief, lowering my shoulders before groping for the knob.Pulling the opened door, I peer out through the small gap. No one seems to be there so I slowly exitthe room before giving Alexander one last look.

My heart skipped a beat the moment I saw his topless figure on the bed. Minutes ago, I was buriedin that broad chest.

My lips curve into a sad smile as I force my eyes away my irresistible, god-like mate.

I got to do this.

Instead of dwelling on the disturbing feeling creeping into my chest, I finally close the door beforelooking around for possible witnesses of my departure.

Seeing that there was none, I heaved out a sharp breath then trudged down the staircase. It waseleven in the evening, most people usually retreat back to their own room while some werewolvesprefer to stretch their legs and run into the woods, but only within the Red Silverwood Packterritory.

After days of observing the nightime routine of the pack, I was able to formulate a plan when theright time comes, and that is now.

Right down the staircase there is a kitchen two doors to the right. I noticed that a lot of peoplewould go in and out of the kitchen through the night, and that is why I should avoid it at all costs.Reaching the bottom of the staircase, I grip the wall and make my way to the back door. No one isin sight, which means I can continue towards my exit.

Taking a step to my left, I halted almost immediately when I hear a voice resonating across the hall."What did I even do to you?!" A gasp escapes my lips and I whirl around in searh of some place Icould hide.

The sound of footsteps coming my way forced me to dart to the locker situated beside the kitchendoor. It was huge and appeared to be where pack members kept their belongings. Luckily, I foundan empty locker and it was open. Quickly, I dashed towards it before grabbing the handle andpulling it back inside.

For once, I thank the goddess for my poor height. It seems that being five feet flat actually had itsown advantages.

Given the large space and my small body frame that easily fitted inside this empty locker, I was ableto settle comfortably inside while I peek outside through the holes in the form of lines. I make sureto steady my breathing and mask my scent. If I remain calm I wouldn't be noticed.

My eyes widened as soon as I saw Veronyka come to view.

It seems she’s been trudging behind Elijah. Her face contorted in anger whilst Elijah furrowed hisbrows, his lips pressed into a thin line.

I bite my inner cheeks as I watch Veronyka stare hard at Elijah with what seemed to be bothconfusion as well as anger.

As always, she looks stunning. Her sandy blonde hair waved down her smooth back in large curls. Her emerald green eyes sparkled every time she looks at Elijah. Now I know why.

When I look at Elijah, I noticed he'd always been looking at Veronyka the exact same way too.Whenever I see him glance at her, his eyes would always show hesitance.

Right now, he had his back turned on her, and Veronyka was looking at him furiously, her handscoiled into fists and squeezing.

Elijah halted in his steps, making Veronyka stomp her feet as she comes to an abrupt halt, bumpingher forehead against Elijah’s back.

Grunting, she brings her fingers to her head and starts massaging her temples in slow circles."Why are you being so mean?” Veronyka's voice now sounded croaky. I squinted through the smallgap and saw tears have already welled up around Veronyka's eyes.

Elijah sighed, turning around to face Veronyka who's been trying to stifle her sobs.

"Stop crying,” Elijah says in a commanding voice.

Wow, has he always been like this? I dont know for sure but I'm positive he wasn't acting this waytowards her. Especially when I first came here.

Elijah looks down at the sobbing girl, his hands clenched on his sides. However, his eyes seemedfilled with desire mixed with sadness, contrary to the way his voice sounded when he commandedher. Veronyka doesn't look up and continues rubbing her eyes, sobbing.

“I hate you,” She says in between her sobs.

Elijah then ran his fingers through his hair, clenching his jaw as he looked away from her for asecond.

As soon as he fixes his gaze on her puffy red eyes and pouty lips, he groaned.

Suddenly, he grabs her arm and dives into her lips for a long, passionate kiss.

Veronyka's eyes widened in surprise, but as the kiss deepened she closes them while wrapping herhands around his neck and pulling him in close. Standing on her toes, she returns the hot, wet kisswhich made Elijah groan in approval.

Just then, a tear fell from the corner of her eyes, but Elijah wiped it off with his thumb as he caressesher hair.

I could feel my cheeks burning, knowing this is supposed to be a private moment. Tearing my gazeoff of them, I chew my lip, suddenly feeling hot at the moment.

Great, I'm not only cursed to be the blood wolf but I'm also cursed to experience this type oftorture.

Well I guess I can only be thankful for being able to snuck myself in this empty locker as they sharetheir passionate kiss.

A few moments later, I whip my face back to the gap only to replace that there's no one there.Squinting my eyes as I move closer, I furrowed my brows wondering.

Where did they go?

I click open the locker, pushing my head out slightly to check whether they're still there.

When I was sure no one seems to be fast approaching, I ducked out heading to the back door.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a hunter bag lying on top of the table. I sauntered over to it andrummaged through its contents.

A light bulb lit up above my head once I finished.

It has everything I need!

A knife, matches, first aid kit, a fur blanket and a rope. In case I fall into a hunter's hole orsomething.

I think it belongs to one of the pack hunters and they just happened to leave their stuff here for thetaking. It's just a few things but it wil do if I want to make it out there and survive.

Pursing my lips into a thin line, I zip the bag close before swinging it over my shoulder.

'Wait, you're going to leave with that?" Ares whispered cautiously.

“What choice do we have?"

Ares paused for a moment before she said, “Fine, let's leave a note in case the owner looks for itLooking around for a pen and a piece of paper, I jot down the words, "I'm sorry" before taping itsecurely on the table

I whip around one last time, circling my eyes while taking in the sight of the place I've grownaccustomed to for a short period of time.

I sniff the air. Somehow, I could make out Alexander's scent, soon noticing it was coming from myown clothes.

I roll my eyes in frustration as I turn around to open the door. Leaving Alexander and his packwearing clothes that reeked of his scent must be the smartest move I've ever made in my life. Igroan and twisted the door knob.

Closing the door behind me, I sweep my eyes across the wide garden circumvallated by large gatestowering high up reaching the tall trees. The gates were all spear-headed and four guards stood ineach corner, unmoving.

I quickly stepped back under the shadows before one of the guards snapped his eyes towards mydirection. He squints and I stay perfectly still as I squeeze my small body against the door, hoping Iblended well with the dark

After a time, he shrugs and turn to face the northern side of the pack house.

Heaving out a relieved sigh, I slowly make my way to the bushes just ahead of me. My handstrembled as I groped the wall, whipping my head back and forth constantly to see if any one of theguards has noticed me sneaking out.

All of a sudden, I hear the door creak behind me. My eyes widened as I jumped into the bushes, shrinking my body as small as I possibly can.

"Who's there?!” A guard bolted to the back door. Even from this angle, I could see his sharp, pointyclaws and canines elongate, making it past his lip.

I ducked even lower when he started sniffing the air.

I try to lower my breathing and calm my racing heart and prayed.

Please, please, please.

Go away.

Just then, my heart almost jumps out of my chest when I felt a massive and calloused hand grab mymouth from behind.

I try to squeal yet the person gripped my mouth tighter, banging my head against his chest whichfelt more like a thick wall of solid-hard muscle.

“Ssshhh...”
