Chapter 108: Picking up the broken pieces

Penelope

"Is it really over?" I ask him as he carries me away.

"I promise you my mate... Marco is finished," Nate says holding me tightly.

The warriors dragged him away and in no time he was in the middle of the pack, tied to a tree, bound and screaming in pain.

Wolves and humans were already beating and biting him, while rogues surround him and make sure he didn't run away.

"Oh, thank the moon goddess that you are well!" Luna Ruth appears and rushes to hug us.

"We had losses, but... Moonstone is ours again and we are alive. But now I must replace a quiet, comfortable place for Penelope to rest," Nate says after hugging her mother.

"Of course you do! This way...some houses are better than others," she says pointing and he leads me to a small house.

"Nate...I should help," I say, my eyes almost closing.

"Absolutely not. You've been through a lot, you came all the way from the town, you faced wolves, humans, everything. You need to rest, now more than ever," he says and leads me to a bed where I fall asleep. When I wake up, I see that he is preparing a bath.

He massages my feet, taking care of the wound on my hand, washing my hair and cleaning me very gently. He leaves little kisses on my legs, my shoulders and my cheek, and I sigh from the pleasure of feeling him on my skin.

He stays there for a moment, close to me, smelling my neck and caressing my mark, as if he can't believe he's here with me, that we've gone through all this together. I feel in heaven.

"I've already spoken to the pack doctor, we are going to see him tomorrow morning before our meeting with the king. I still can't believe you're pregnant... my mate," he says excitedly as he puts his hand on my belly.

"I can't believe it either...of course we weren't very careful," I say.

"Come...into the water with me..." I says, tugging at his shirt, but I meet, surprisingly, a resistance.

"But... "I say, tasting his lips.

"To bed... my mate and pup need rest," he says, and I sigh.

After drying me off and putting on a large t-shirt, he lays me down and I fall into a deep sleep.

I don't know what time it is when I wake up and look for him. Immediately, he is near me, he seems to have bathed and dressed and the wounds and bruises I had are already healing quickly. "How are you feeling?"

"A little sore but fine.... "I say looking at my hand.

"You need to tell me if anything is wrong, if you feel any discomfort from the pregnancy or..."

"Nate... I'm sure everything will be fine. I'm just pregnant..."

"Our wonderful Luna saved us.... and besides, I'm going to be a grandfather," my father says, on the verge of tears.

"Dad...I love you so much" I say happily as he hugs me.

"And we will be uncles! Warrior uncles!" my little ones say.

"My boys have done marvelously...I am so proud of you," I say, hugging them and touching their faces. My little family, I loved them so much.

"And you, take it easy, I already know you have a tiny human mate, take it easy on that poor girl!" my father says, scolding them.

"We'll go look for our tiny human right now," they say with mischief smiles. Something tells me that Marianne will have a very agitated reunion. And I'm sure she'll love every second of it. "And I'll be a grandma! Today really is a happy day!" Ruth says, hugging me very affectionately, and she is really excited.

I quickly realize that not only Nathaniel will be unbearable because of the pregnancy, but everyone seems to see every step I take, they all think I'm made of glass, and I'm going to break. "Lady Luna... it's a pleasure to see you again... " Jeremiah says when he sees me.

"Thank you for coming back to help us... you've helped us so much, Jeremiah," I say, hugging him even as Nate roars, he seems tremendously upset that I'm in another man's arms.

"I want to introduce you to some friends who want to meet you, this is Trevor and Rebecca, from the Brown Wolf Pack,"

I also see that Rebecca looks very happy holding Roger's hand, they are mates! Can you believe it? Now she will be in the pack with us. Everyone says she is a fantastic warrior, so we are very proud that she is part of Moonstone. "When we felt your power... it was amazing, I've never seen anything like it," Trevor said.

"I still don't understand... what happened?" I asked.

"They recognize their Luna, the new Luna, the Luna of wolves and humans," Nate says proudly. And I replace more friends.

"Jack! You are okay! "I say looking at my boss who not only survived the battle but is still helping to rebuild the pack.

"Of course Penny! We are stronger that you think! And we won't leave you alone, Penny. I am so proud of you and all you have accomplished," he said with satisfaction.

"And we've already talked about our future, Belle Springs can't be left unprotected, Moonstone will give protection to them and the surrounding towns," my mate says. "That's amazing!" I exclaim excited.

"Moonstone will grow stronger and stronger, and with a powerful heir we will have no enemies... I am sure," Ruth says.

"And what will come next? "I was very worried about the meeting with the king, as well as waiting for Marco's sentence, but also about other things, especially my baby.

"Well, we have to do the mating ceremony as soon as possible... you are already the Luna, but I want to present you officially to the pack, so there will no doubt about it. We also have many new members to welcome to Moonstone, although I know you have already included some of the rogues," he says very proudly. It seems as if he couldn't be more proud of me. "Our baby will be loved, human or wolf" he says, wiping away my tears as he lays me down on the bed.

"You said I was your queen and that you would give everything for me...I never heard anything so beautiful," I tell him and hear him chuckle softly.

"And it was all true. Forgive me, my love... I should have told you sooner" he says and takes something out of his pocket.

"This... I got it back... very well-thought-out, my love... use silver plus wolfsbane" he says, handing me back my ring and rose necklace, clean and restored. "Beautiful and useful gifts from my mate" I tell him while I put them back on

"Sleep, my love... I'll be here close to you, always" he says, and I fall asleep next to him, thinking about how lucky I am that he is my mate. My love.
