Alpha´s curvy bullied human mate
Chapter 57: We are together

Penelope

They seemed to have found us at just the right time. Asher and Jeremiah were fighting werewolves and other vampires, my father was injured, and I was terrified. But somehow, we managed to escape - and I was with him, with my mate, Nate.

He carried me on his back when they came after us. As he dodged bullets and trees in his way, running for his life deep in the woods, I felt like I was flying in his arms.

He kept telling me, "Hang on, Penelope!" I clung to his neck and closed my eyes, feeling the breeze blowing past us, the twigs hitting us as we passed, and the sound of footsteps behind us.

Suddenly it seemed to me that we had dropped suddenly, and when I realized it, we seemed to be in a hiding place near a fallen tree and a small slope in the ground.

"We're ahead of them, but they're coming right at us. I need you to hide, Penelope. I need to attack them and take them out, it's the only chance I have," he said to me, holding my face. I could see the dirt and blood all over his face, he looked feral and was in full Alpha mode.

"Here, stay here," he said, putting some fabric on my head. It hurt but we didn't have much time to worry about it. He picked me up on his back and left through what looked like a tree hole.

"Nate... But..." I shivered as he handed me a gun that I recognized as belonging to one of those who attacked us.

"If you see anything, just shoot them, and only shoot them if they're coming at you, understand?" He explained to me how it worked.

Using a werewolf's gun was a deadly event. Only people who hated werewolves used them. But werewolves never used it amongst themselves. It was forbidden, and a sign of cowardice and disloyalty.

"Here are some clothes, change into them and cover your scent. I will return, my love, I promise," he said desperately and gave me the sweetest kiss as if he couldn't help it, I wanted more, but he left me a few seconds later.

I hurriedly changed into a pair of shorts and a T-shirt and hugged my knees, hoping very much that he would return.

Soon I heard grunts and footsteps and desperate screams. Hunter's voice sounded horrible and gave me the creeps - he was no longer my wolf, but a beast, a powerful Alpha. My Alpha.

It was hard for me, but I finally realized that I couldn't get out of this bondage. My dream of having a mate came true, even though it wasn't what I thought it would be. Honestly, I couldn't complain. Never again would I complain.

Suddenly, I heard a scream and something inside me told me it was him. I had to know what happened. He told me not to go out there, but what if he was hurt? It was unlikely that an Alpha like him could be defeated, but these guys weren't playing fair.

"Come on, Penelope! You're supposed to be the Moon Goddess who protects everyone! Snap out of it!"

I crawled out very carefully and stealthily and poked my head out to see what was going on behind the tree. There was smoke everywhere. Hunter was coughing.

"Get him! Get him while he's weak! Finish him off!"

"Find the human!" they shouted.

I could see Hunter still struggling with the men, but he was shaken and confused as if he couldn't see. The others wore masks and punched and kicked him.

This fog. It must be harmful. There must be wolfsbane. Goddess! Hunter! I needed to help him! With trembling hands, I picked up my gun, aimed it at the trees, and fired.

The first bullet hit a tree, and I continued firing until it landed on the leg of one of the men, and I heard him scream. Hunter took the opportunity to finish him off.

"There's that vile human!" I heard.

As the other masked man approached me, I shot him square in the chest and he fell backward. Now that Hunter wasn't surrounded by so many people, he attacked more freely, taking an opponent with every step. Another man came at me, very fast. He wasn't wearing a mask, and when I blinked, he was already in front of me, and I stumbled backward. A woman? A vampire! I was screwed.

"Time to see what's so special about this stupid human and why everyone wants her?!" she sneered, and I could see that her eyes were red, her skin was almost gray, and her hair was a mass of black curls.

"Get off me!" I yelled as she walked up to me and lifted me by my shirt. I kicked her and tried to hit her, but I knew I was no match for this woman.

"An Alpha with a normal human... shame on you! But I'm going to take you away and give you a nice reward, you're going to be good at this," she said with a mischievous grin.

"You fucking leech!" I yelled, hitting her with my gun as she let go of me.

As I made a futile attempt to escape, she grabbed my legs and yanked me by the hair, going straight for my throat. But just as I felt her breath, I heard her scream in desperation, a scream of utter agony, and she let go of me. Then I heard a roar, and when I opened my eyes, the vampire was in pieces, and my Alpha had triumphed.

"Nate!" His human form was covered in blood, and he fell to his knees.

"My mate! My beautiful mate..." he said caressing my face, and I cried.

"Wolf's teeth... in the bullets, and this smoke... they were fully prepared," he said, his eyes widening as I helped him up and made him lie down from the tree. "You're hurt," I said, looking at him. It didn't look like he was shot, but the fight was grueling.

"You'll be fine. You need to rest," I said, as I rubbed his wound.

"Stay with me..." he said, pulling me with him as we stood in a hole in the tree. He examined the wound on my head and I saw that his wound was healing quickly. "The mind-link is down... we're isolated, I hope they didn't attack the wolves..." he panted.

"My father will warn them. I just hope everyone else is okay," I told him, and then I lay on his chest until I fell asleep.

...

The moment the morning sun woke me up, I wondered if what had happened was real.

"Nate?" I called out, afraid I wouldn't get an answer.

"Penelope, I'm here," he replied. To me, it seemed like the most melodious words.

"You should have woken me up," I replied, crawling over to him and leaning down to kiss him.

"You've been through so much, my love. I wanted you to rest. We don't know what's going to happen," he said as he caressed my face.

He put on some clothes and looked worried. His eyes were still red, but he smiled when he saw me.

"But we're together," I told him, and a smile spread across his face.

"It's true, we're together, in the face of everything we have faced. It's the best news," he said. Over the next hour, we ate and he cleaned the wound on my head.

"I guess we could use this," I said, taking guns and ammo, and a mask from one of the dead attackers. He didn't seem to like those.

"I know it's wrong to use wolfsbane between wolves, But I'm only human and I have to protect myself," I said. He hugged me.

"I don't know... My mate. You're only human, but you had a clear goal. You didn't listen to me, but you were well protected. You saved me, that's for sure," he said, looking at me adoringly.

"I won't let anything happen to my Alpha... my mate," I said, and he smiled a very sexy smile.

"Your mate, always. You have no idea how happy I am to hear that." He kissed me wildly. "I swear we'll get through this. The wolfsbane will wear off, and I'll talk to the wolves. We'll have good news." He kissed my forehead and we continued our way. I forced him to put on a mask, just in case.

I felt especially happy as we walked through the forest hand in hand.

"I know this whole area well, and there should be a cabin here. I think it's best if we stay here for a while until things calm down with the wolves and the border. It'll just be you and me for a few days," he said. This prospect was wonderful to me.
