Osborn

I walk around Alita's party as I search for my mate. It very quickly becomes obvious that she isn't here.

Girl's flood toward me like always. Each one batting their eyes and asking if I'd want to dance and sometimes letting out this annoying, fake, high-pitched giggle.

My mate isn't here and goddess, I hope when I finally meet her that she doesn't act like that!

It's been three f*****g years that I've been searching for her. It feels like replaceing her is impossible.

Anger floods through me, where the hell is she?

I walk upstairs and go to the office. I pull out a map of our pack and start looking up information on how my dad currently has the patrols running. My dad has been too lenient when it comes to rogues. I won't be.

Starting tomorrow, the pack will be undergoing some changes.

I grab out another map to see which packs I've visited recently and which ones we have good relationships with. I need to travel and replace my mate, but any pack we don't have good relationships with, I plan to conquer.

I will be like my father and grow our pack even larger and stronger. People will fear me and my conquering just like they did him. No one will dare to mess with the Scarlet Pack ever again.

Peelle

Alita looks so happy. I watch her from afar as she dances with her friends, and I can't help but watch to make sure no boy tries to touch her.

Mom walks beside me with an amused smile as she says, "Being a little overprotective, aren't we?"

I chuckle and one of my gliders, Francois runs up to my shoulder and my mom gives me a disapproving look as she says, "Peelle, this is a party. Couldn't they have stayed in your room tonight?"

I laugh, "Oh come on, mom. You know where I go, they go."

She rolls her eyes and turns back to the party and asks, "Do you know where your brother is?"

I shake my head no, "I haven't seen him in a while. He was looking for his mate."

She breathes out, "He always is. It's like an obsession for him."

I glance at my mom to see her worried expression. Her eyes move as they follow something and I turn my head to see my dad rushing up the stairs my mom murmurs, "Excuse me."

She rushes after him and I take a deep breath as Alita makes eye contact with me. Her face is full of concern as she wonders why 3 of her family members are missing. I smile at her trying to reassure her that everything's okay. I'm grateful when a friend grabs her arm and distracts her from what's going on.

My stomach churns feeling uneasy with the way my family is acting. I try to shake it off, this is Alita's night. She deserves for all the attention to be on her.

Claudia

When Evan hurried away from the party, I knew that something was wrong. I follow behind him, but he hasn't noticed me yet as he goes into his office. I stay in the hall listening to his conversation as he asks, "What are you doing in here, son?" Osborn responds, "I'm about to be Alpha, I thought I'd spend some time looking over the changes I'd like to make."

"You aren't become Alpha till tomorrow and there's a party going on downstairs. I don't understand why you felt it was appropriate for you to be up here right now, son."

"I don't need to be at the party," Osborn answers simply like it's obvious. Evan's tone is irritated as he says, "Osborn, you want to be Alpha so bad, yet you haven't acted like one." The tension is thick as Osborn says, "Excuse me?"

Evan scoffs, "You heard me, a real Alpha would be down at that party interacting with people and creating relationships and bonds so that your people will trust you."

"Oh please," Osborn responds in a sarcastic tone. He continues, "That is not how you acted when you were an Alpha during you're early days so don't give me that bullshit."

"And you should be better than me, Osborn! At least you've had a better role model than what I had."

"And you should be better than me, Osborn! At least you've had a better role model than what I had."

Osborn scoffs and I decide to walk in the room. Evan needs me to help calm him down. Osborn's eyes flicker between us and he says, "Look, I'm not you, dad. I know you want me to be better and I'm going to try. But you have to let me try things my way. I see things from a different perspective than you. That doesn't mean it's the wrong perspective."

Evan breathes heavily as he tries to calm himself down. I hold his hand and rub my thumb up and down trying to silently soothe him.

I try to respect my son's privacy, I really do. But it alarms me how clouded his head is. It's loud and hard to ignore yet it all blends together where I can't really make out what he's thinking.

Evan finally says, "You're right, son, you have a different perspective. That doesn't mean it's wrong. But right now, this is still my office. I would like you to wait until tomorrow before you start taking over." Osborn stands up and says, "Fair enough."

The three of us walk out of the office, but Osborn walks past the stairwell and straight toward his room. Evan shakes his head as he grumbles, "I don't know what's wrong with him."

I rub on his back and say, "I know, baby, but let's not focus on that right now. We have two other awesome kids waiting for us downstairs and it's one of their birthdays. Let's go celebrate."

Evan leans in and kisses me softly and then stares into my eyes as he says, "I don't know what I would do without you, Claudia. Thank you for living this life with me. I'm forever grateful for my Cinderella." I can't help but laugh as he takes my arm, and we go join the party.

Tomorrow has its own worries. For tonight, I will enjoy celebrating my only daughter and the love between me and my perfectly imperfect mate.
