Peelle

I open the cells and smell a mix of rose and jasmine. My eyebrows furrow softly as I follow the scent and I see a naked girl sitting on the floor in her cell.

Her fiery red hair has gray streaks in it and her eyes snap up to me and she scrambles backwards backing herself into a corner.

She's beautiful, and... she's my mate.

How is this possible? Osborn and I have the same mate?!

He's going to be angry; I just know it.

I crouch down and hold my hands up and say, "Hey, I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to talk. I'm going to replace you something to wear, and I'll be right back and if it's okay with you... I'll come inside, okay?"

She glances up at me and I notice her amber colored eyes before she looks back at the floor. I breathe out as I walk out of the cells. She looked skinny; a bit too skinny like she hasn't had a proper meal. I don't know what her height is because I never saw her standing, but maybe she'll fit something of Alita's?

I rush back home where Alita is still playing the video game. She pauses it and turns toward me as she asks, "What's going on?"

"I need to get her something to wear. Can you help me replace something?"

She nods, and I follow her up the steps to her room. I know she can hear my thoughts; I know that she knows that this woman is my mate. But Alita doesn't say anything because she doesn't want to risk our brother somehow overhearing.

Thankfully, her room is on the other side of the pack house so our brother shouldn't be able to hear anything. Once the door is closed, she asks, "She's your mate?" I nod, "Yeah, she is."

"Hmm, Osborn isn't going to be happy about this, you know?"

I scoff, "I'm not exactly thrilled that I have to share with him either... but it is what it is. The moon goddess must have some kind of plan, right?"

Alita nods, "Right."

Alita hands me a pair of sweatpants that have a drawstring so she can make it tighter, if need be, a big t-shirt, and a hoodie in case she's cold. I say, "Thanks, sis."

She shrugs, "You're doing the right thing and caring for your mate. Poor thing must be terrified right now."

The image of her huddled up in the corner flashes in my mind. I know she's scared.

I nod, "I need to get back to her."

I collect the clothes and rush back to the cellar. When I get there, I open her cell door and come in with her and lock myself in there. I know this is dangerous, she's a rogue. But she's also my mate and I'm going to trust that she wouldn't harm me. She hasn't moved from her corner, and I set her clothes in front of her. She looks at the clothes before letting her eyes flicker up to me. I give her a small smile as I say, "I don't know your size. These belong to my little sister, I hope they'll suffice." She breathes out, "Thank you."

Her voice is soft, but she sounds angelic to me. My heart beats faster knowing that this woman in front of me is my mate. She stands up and I try not to ogle her body, but I can't look away from her either. She doesn't seem bothered by my gaze as she puts the sweatpants on.

They hang low on her hips even with her tightening the drawstring. It concerns me how skinny she is.

Her breasts are an average size, but they are perky and it's hard to look away from them as she moves. She throws the shirt on, and it swallows her.

She sits back down on the floor and looks over at me and asks, "How is it that you are my mate, and that other guy is too?"

I chuckle, "I'm Peelle, that other guy is my twin brother, Osborn. I don't know how it's possible other than it's what the moon goddess wanted."

She nods slowly and I ask, "Can I know your name?"

Her lips press together as she debates whether that she should give it to me. A moment passes and my gliders come out of my pockets and skitter over to her. Her eyebrows raise as they stop in front of her and sniff the air.

She giggles softly as she holds her hand out and they sniff her. She asks, "What kind of critter is this?"

I chuckle as they crawl up her hand and say, "They're called sugar gliders. They're kind of like flying squirrels."

She giggles as they crawl up her arm to her shoulders and says, "I've never seen anything like them. Do they have names?"

"Yeah, the one on your right is Francois and the one on the left is Gus."

She nods and she says, "Hi Francois, hi Gus!" Her eyes flicker to me and she says, "Hi Peelle, my name is Eda."

Eda. Her name makes my heart stop and I whisper it back to her, "Eda."

Eda. Her name makes my heart stop and I whisper it back to her, "Eda."

Her amber eyes flicker back to me and she says, "So... that mean man was your brother?"

I can't help but laugh at her description of him and I nod, "Yeah, that's my brother."

She shakes her head, "It's weird. You seem so nice and warm, but he seemed so... mean and cold. How could you two come from the same household?"

I shrug, "Your guess is as good as mine."

My gliders crawl off her and come back to me and take their place in my pockets. Her eyebrows furrow slightly as she asks, "Do they just stay in your pockets all the time?"

I chuckle, "Yeah, that's where they're at most of the time. They do have a big cage in my room, but I tend to let them roam free."

She nods and says in a soft voice, "It's nice to have freedom."

"Hey," I say as I reach out to grab her hand. I hold my hand out to her letting her decide whether I can hold it. My cheeks redden as she puts her hand in mine and I say, "I promise, I'm going to get you out of here soon, at the very least you deserve better living quarters."

She smiles softly and I notice the smallest dimple in her left cheek as she says, "Thank you, Peelle."

I nod, "Of course, anything for you, Eda."

Her smile widens and I say, "I'll be back soon, I promise."

She nods, "Okay."

I reluctantly get up and leave the cell. I hate leaving her here, but I can't take her out without Osborn's approval. He would be furious if he knew I not only saw her, but I released her without his permission.

I have to do this the right way. We will have to figure out how to make having the same mate work.

I get to the pack house and Alita looks back at me and I state, "I need to talk to Osborn. But... her name is Eda." Alita smiles and asks, "Is she nice?"

I nod, "From what I could tell. She's just scared. I need to get her out of that cell, but... Osborn needs to approve it."

Alita breathes out as she says, "Whew, good luck with that, bro."

I walk up the stairs and as I get close to Osborn's room, I can feel the anger and frustration fuming from it.

I need to get this over with.
