Eda

I'm unable to sleep, this is all so unbelievable.

I pace around the large room; I've never seen a bedroom this large. Mine and my mom's room was the size of the bathroom here. My mom will be elated when she replaces out that I'm mated to the Alpha of a pack.

My mom wasn't always a rogue. She and her parents got banished from a pack long before I was born

I never met my grandparents. My mom never talked about what happened that caused them to separate. She did the best she could to raise me and keep me safe, but she was a bitter woman. She criticized n to lose weight.

Although I know she'll be happy that I'm mated to someone high ranked, I think she might also be jea No matter what, she's still my mom and I will do what I can to rescue her from Master Wraith. I just ne I think it will be hard to break down Osborn's walls, but I'll do what I can to try. He's cold and mean, b I walk to my bed and lie down. I let out a breath of awe as I feel how soft it is. How is it possible for a Before I know it, I'm asleep.

I woke up from the sunlight shining through the curtains on my face. My eyebrows scrunch together a Wraith's victims.

I rub my eyes as I look around the room. Everything is in a light gold and light pink color, and I let out There's a light knock on the door and I smell cinnamon and my mouth waters as I suddenly remembe I sit up in the bed and he walks over to me with a playful smile on his face. But soon she was found by Master Wraith, and he took her in, and she has lived as one of his slaves ever since.

my looks and there were days I would go unfed. I still don't know if she did that because we didn't have enough to eat or if it's because she thought I needed ecause she didn't get that.

wait for Osborn to accept me. He's the Alpha, he's the one who would decide if she could join the pack.

ething about him is familiar and I want to spend more time with him. I just don't know if he wants to spend any time with me.

ate, Peelle. He opens the door with a soft smile and says, "Rise and shine, sleepy head."

ext to me and kisses the top of my head as he remarks, "Your bedhead is adorable."

"Yeah... better than I ever have before. The bed was really comfortable, and I've never felt sheets so smooth and a blanket so soft."

He says, "The sheets are made of silk, do you like it? Some people like silk sheets and some hate it."

"I love it."

His smile widens as he says, "I'm glad. I brought you a dress to wear today and whenever you're ready to eat breakfast you can knock on my door, and I'll help guide you. Once we're done eating maybe we can go into town and get you some clothes?" I smile, "That sounds nice."

He quickly leaves my room and as he goes, I can hear the chittering of his little sugar gliders. I can't help but smile, it's cute how he takes his pets with him wherever he goes.

It surprises me how different Peelle and Osborn are. Peelle made me a priority this morning, but I have no idea when I'll see Osborn again. It seems like he doesn't care about me, but if he didn't care then wouldn't he have killed me since I'm a rogue? I put on the dress that Peelle brought me and went to search for a hairbrush. As I looked around, I heard a knock on the door, and I froze wondering if this could be Osborn.

I breathe out and force myself to say, "Come in!"

The door opens and in walks Alita, along with two other girls that I haven't seen before. My eyebrows furrow as I look at the three of them and Alita says, "Oh good, the dress fits! Anyway, before you got busy today I just wanted to introduce you to the other two girls

in the house." She points to the older one and says, "Eda, this is Laila, she should be around your age. She's only a few months apart from my brothers."

Laila smiles and waves her hand while Alita points to the other girl and says, "This is Lauren."

Lauren nods at me and Laila says, "Welcome to the Scarlet Pack, Eda. If you need anything just let me know. Us girls have to stick together, you know."

I nod, "Yeah, thanks."

Alita says, "Call out if you need us, Eda. I just thought you'd feel more comfortable by like this rather than in a room full of new people."

"Yeah, thanks Alita."

The three girls leave my room and I breathe out. It's nerve-racking meeting so many new people so fast. I finally replace a hairbrush and I wince as I run it through my tangly hair. Once I'm done with it, I brush my teeth.

The door knocks again, and I groan, can't I have a few minutes by myself?

I rush to finish brushing my teeth as the door opens. I spit in the sink and then look up to see Peelle setting stuff down on a desk. He looks over at me and smiles and I wipe my mouth.

I say, "I thought I was supposed to get you?"

He nods, "Yeah, that was the plan. But I saw who all would be at the breakfast table, and I thought you might get overwhelmed from so many people. So, I thought we could have breakfast in here and have some mimosas to celebrate that we found one another."

I don't know what a mimosa is but having some one-on-one time with Peelle sounds wonderful. It makes me nervous to think about how many people might have been at the breakfast downstairs.

He holds out a fancy glass with an orange liquid in it and I take it from him. He clinks his glass against mine and then takes a sip and I follow his suit. It tastes like orange and is a little bubbly.

It doesn't taste bad, but it was different than normal orange juice.

He looks at me with an adoring smile and says as he takes a seat, "So, I figured there's a lot to learn about each other. How about we each ask a question and see where it goes?"

"Okay... like what?" I don't know what I want to know about him. He's nice and sweet and makes me feel cared for. There isn't anything else I could dream of from a man. Peelle runs his hand through his long hair and says, "Okay, do you have any siblings?"

I shake my head, "Not that I'm aware of. It was just me and my mom when I was growing up."

"Did that bother you?"

The question made me feel taken aback. I ask, "Why would it?"

He shrugs, "I can't imagine life without my siblings. It's like I've always had a built-in best friend."

"Even with Osborn?" I question. It's hard to picture Osborn as a friendly guy. Peelle chuckles and says, "Yeah, even with Osborn. Before Alita was born, Ozzy and I were best friends. There was an attack on our pack while our parents were gone... Osborn was taken. He was gone for a couple of days, but when he returned, he seemed unharmed. He clung to me for a while, but then became distant. I don't know why. I have no clue what changed. By the time Alita was born, I missed having that relationship with Osborn. So, I helped out with Alita as much as I could and as she got older, she and I got closer and Osborn continued to distance himself."

I nod in understanding and Peelle breathes out, "He's a good guy, Eda. I promise you. He just has some stuff to work through. But I mean, everyone has their own type of baggage."

He has no idea how true that is...
