Narrator's POV:

The hospital was quiet that evening. All the patient's might have gone to bed, or all the visitors might have left.

Chloe Tristan(aunty) laid still in bed with batted breath as Titus sat in a chair staring heatedly at her face. She could not wait for him to leave, it was already too hard holding her breath for such a long time! Titus's stare was relentless! After the revelation his got from Marcus, he had come to confirm it himself and after staring at her for over an hour; he could finally believe what his Alpha had said. He had seen her lashes twitching a couple of times and he thought she had shifted slightly and was also peering at him through narrowly opened lids. He wondered what she was playing at... at some point, he even got scared to turn his back to her for fear of probably getting stabbed. Chloe was bothered and it worried her if perhaps, it had come to Titus's knowledge that she was conscious now. He just kept staring blankly at her, but she did not miss the suspicion whirling in his eyes. Her whole body stiffened, when he suddenly called her name and started speaking to her. He said that he loved her and she knew not how she managed not to gag in irritation. She would alit his throat at the fastest chance she got and here he spoke of love? The chair scraped again the floor after another thirty minutes, when Titus stood up and quickly walked out of the room.

Her eyes slowly flipped open as she remained in her position and stared pointedly at the door. Why had he walked away so quickly and what was his problem today or she began to think that maybe she she was the only one who was noticing that he was acting strangely?

When she was sure that he was gone and no one else was watching; she pulled out a little bottle and throwing her head back, she drank some of the liquid in it. She quickly secured the bottle back in it's place, then waited for the effects of the poison to take place. Once she started to feel dizzy; she laid down back and closed her eyes as she waited for the unending pains to come. Even when she knew how detrimental it is to her health, she still took it to make her body unconscious for a while, in other to prolong her stay. She was determined to stay as long as she could; she knew that it would not be too long before her nice decided to check on her, only then; would she be able to rest in peace.

It was a strange kind of poison, one of a kind that many doctors have not heard of. She knew her way around herbs and just when she knew it was the right time, she started to consume the concoction and it took its effect just at the time she wanted it to.

She laid there, eyes up staring at the ceiling. She had not seen the person who stood all the while by the window, watching her with wide, disbelieving eyes. Her eyes finally shut close, and that was when the other person vanished! Chloe's POV:

"Oh my gods!"

My mouth was still hanging open after what I had just experienced. Had I just seen my aunty gulp down a mouthful of poison? The very one which we were struggling to cure her from? Why would she do something like that?! She was definitely up to something, what could be planning?

I hurried all the way home, replaceing my husband in his office. I shut the door behind me and just then, he raised his hard eyes to give me a glare. "I saw her! I saw her!" I started to say, sighing when I saw the confused looking his face. "I saw Chloe, my aunty, she really was awake and then..." I trailed off, the mental picture of her throwing her head back and throwing the poison into her mouth.

"And she what?" Marcus inquired in an impatient tone.

"... she brought out a little bottle from her under clothes and took some liquid from it and from what I perceived, it was poison she had drank." I paused, taking a gulp. "I think she is up to something...," I added in a whisper.

He gave me a look that said he blamed me but did not want to make in obviously by stating out his blames. iknew it wasn't fault alright, I should have left her ashe has told me that day... she was never going to die, that I just found out. But on second thoughts...

"Do you know I am not completely wrong for bringing her with us?"

He scoffed, which seemed a bit disrespectful and made me feel embarrassed but it was not the time to argue of list out faults, so I pretended like I had not heard or seen him do any of that.

"If she was not herewith us, she would have taken us by surprise," I tried to reason with him. "Mow that we have her here with us, we would be able to monitor her every moves and also; we found out that she has something going on and if I had not insisted on bringing her back here, how would we have known any of that?"

I waited for him to argue with me, but he only gave me a thoughtful stare, a long one at that. Then he looked away. I opened my mouth to speak again, and that was when the office door got pushed open and I turned my head to see my mother walk in.

"You stupid child!"

My eyes widened in panic? Fear? I do not really know how to describe the feeling but I tensed up all over as I turned around to me mother's angry face. Oops! I almost had forgotten how quick tempered my mother could get. She must have heard my little discussion with Marcus and now...

She charged towards me and before I could blink, a hot slap thundered across my cheek. My head whipped to the side and I could feel my cheek burning as Marcus growled, rising upto his feet. "Shut up!" She yelled at him, earning another growl from my stubborn husband.

"Mum..." I trailed off, fighting to meet her eyes. She finally took her challenging gaze off Marcus and back to me. The murderous look in her eyes frightened me, and I really hoped that it was not directed at me. "Mummy, what is the problem?" "You are the problem!" She hissed, shoving me in the chest, which made Marcus growl again. She shifted her gaze to Marcus and pointed an accusing finger at him. "And you who keeps growling in the corner, why did you not do anything to stop her," she hissed.

I gave him a look to behave and I noticed that he was only controlling himself because it was my mother who was touching me in a way that he did not like.

"How dare you welcome that snake into your home and still keep her so close to you?!"

She was definitely talking about aunty Chloe.

"Do you know she was among those who killed your father? All she wants to do is take your life, she had always hated me right from the beginning and would stop at nothing to harm you. Why did you perform such an act of foolishness?" "She has her reasons," Marcus hissed, obviously not liking the way my mother was scolding me like a little child.

"No one was talking to you," she snapped, passing Marcus another glare. "I will get to your turn and by then, I hope you would answer all of my questions and I do not want even a stutter!" She huffed, turning back to give me her usual look of disapproval, whenever I did something she did not like. "Answer me, young lady, why did you let Chloe into your pack land?!"

"I have my reasons okay?" I replied, beginning to fall under the pressure. The feeling of regret that built up in my chest, started to cause me pain. "I wanted to know how you both were killed, so I could kill Dracula just as painfully as he did you both! I thought she was remorseful because she lied, I did not completely fall for it but I only wanted to take my chances with her!"

Her eyes softened and I thought I saw a flicker of hurt in there, but it went away as fast as it had arrived. She did not say anything to be but turned away, moving towards the door and ordering my husband to follow after her.

Marcus was still standing were he had been standing, and glaring at the back of my mother. For a moment there, I thought he was about to make the greatest mistake of his life and not go, but soon his legs kicked into action and he walked out after her, not even bothering to spare me a glance.

I sighed, my shoulders slumping in the process. Now, not only did my husband think that I had made the worst mistake of my life, but my mother did too. A part of me also felt so too, buti refused to regret my actions when I still saw lot of sense in it. I would have to replace out what she had planned for us...

I turned and left the office too, all the while straining by my ears to see if I would hear anything of what my mother and Marcus were saying, but I did not. It was obvious that she had taken him far away, maybe teleported with him out of the planet for all I knew!

Narrator's POV:

"You know you can talk now," Marcus grumbled as he walked behind his brooding mother in-law.

They had been walking in silence for the past minutes which felt like a long time ago and she still had not said anything!

She swiftly turned around, baffling him in the process. "It seems you have not gotten to know my daughter well in enough in the past month?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes away from him. "She would definitely try to listen in on us and I do not want that. I hope you can keep a secret?"

Marcus was quiet, staring at the back of her head with one raised eyebrow. When she did not get a reply, she craned her neck to look back at him, repeating her question which he replied to this time.

"If only the said secret, is worth keeping," he murmured inaudibly but her vampire ears picked up every single word!

She nodded, stretching out an arm to him. "Grab my arm then, I need to tell and show you something..."

He hesitated, staring down at the arm like it were some kind of flea infested object. "I do not think that I wish to go any where with yo-!"

Before he could finish his sentence, she grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him with her, teleporting them over to her old house where she had brought her family earlier. She left him suspended on purpose and it gave him quite the scare as he saw himself floating on the air. Just as he was about to open his mouth and say something, she released him with a wave of her hand and he fell to the ground.

"Why did you do that?!" He yelled, giving her a glare as he laid back flat on the floor. She went to give him a helping her but he slapped it away, helping himself into a sitting position, then he got on his feet. "Apart from the fact that you birthed my wife, I do not particularly have a thing for vampires... do not test my patience," he growled in a warning tone.

Claire snickered, also returning his glare. "Neither do I and if you have not figured it out already; I do not particularly like you too!" She paused, keeping a straight face. "Now, about what we were going to talk about..."

She took a couple of steps away from him, then turned around to face him with a serious look on her face. "I am not real," she said.

I gave her an unsure look, already feeling uncomfortable with being around her and also knowing that she had been dead for a long time. "I forgot to tell you, I am not really y good at keeping secrets," I lied, not really interested in whatever she wanted to show me. I just hated anything 'vampiristic' and it still felt surreal.

"Wether you like it or not, I will still tell you!"
