Chapter 18
“Doctor Alexis, there is a delivery for you. The nurse walked inside the cabin, and Alexis, who was going through the case files of some patients that she needed to treat and schedule their heart surgery, lifted her head, her brows furrowed.
A delivery for her?
She didn’t remember anyone from her family or friends sending her something. Was it some kind of surprise?
It’s maybe related to the ball, Selene said and Alexis hummed at the suggestion.
That was probably it.
“I am coming.” Alexis said before she stood from her place and walked out of the cabin, completely oblivious as she greeted another nurse.
As soon as Alexis walked out of the hospital, her pupils dilated when she noticed so many red rose bouquets. “Doctor Alexis?” The guy stepped ahead, and Alexis turned to her right where a guy was sitting wearing a helmet.
“That would be me,” Alexis frowned.
“Can you please sign here to signify you got the delivery?” The man said and stepped ahead, making Alexis nod. “Are you sure it’s for me?” Alexis double–confirmed before signing the paper.
She looked at all the roses, their strong smell wafting through her nostrils before she walked to one bouquet and picked the card attached to it.
“Day I of pursuing my wife.
Roses are red, sky is blue, my love for you is eternal, give me a chance too,”
The card said and Alexis pressed her lips into a thin line before crumbling the note in her hand.
She pulled out her phone and called someone,
“Yes. Come out quickly,” She ended the call and waited for the person to show up.
“Yes, Doctor Alexis, The nurse said before her eyes widened when she saw so many roses placed on the side.. “Wow!! Who sent all these flowers? This is so-” the nurse stopped talking when she saw the dark look on Alexis’s face. “We are allowed to change the flowers in the patients‘ room, right? Distribute these roses in all the rooms after ensuring the person isn’t allergic to them or the strong smell. Also, next time you see a delivery like this. Don’t call me. I don’t have time for this, Alexis said before she walked back into the hospital.
The guy
who was asked to record her reaction, ended the video call.
Augustus sitting in his office saw her love reaction through the video call and smiled.
“Did you see that? I sent her flowers. If she really hated me that much, she would’ve thrown those flowers. But rather than that, she sent those flowers to all the patients‘ rooms so she would be able to see them every time she entered patient’s room. I indeed have a chance, Augustus said as he spun the pen on his table while sitting in the conference
room.
His entire team, who also saw what happened, looked at each other, unsure if they were allowed to tell their boss that

he was being a little delusional and the girl probably just didn’t want to waste the roses.
However, did anyone really dare to utter a word?
Mark looked at his people and cleared his that.
“I think we should start the meeting, sir, Mark said and Augustus went into his Alpha mode immediately.
Marianna, on the other hand, saw the man who delivered the flowers, returning from the site to report to their alpha.
She walked to the person as soon as he crossed the lobby.
“Woah, what kind of strong perfume are you using? You smell of roses so strongly,” She commented.
“That’s because I was asked to deliver roses, Harry answered and left, without waiting for her reply.
Marianna was late for the office once again and didn’t really know what was going on inside the company. It was mainly because she couldn’t get ready in time, but a major part of it was because she was so worried about the alpha that she couldn’t sleep the entire night.
It was not only around when she got a call from their alpha’s maid that he reached home at around 3 am in the morning was she finally able to sleep.
She wanted to call him immediately and ask him what happened between him and Alexis, but the maid said that the alpha wasn’t exactly in a good mood and she refrained herself from calling.
“Flowers? I didn’t know Harry had a romantic side to him too. When did he replace his mate?” Marianna asked the lady at the reception, who was also her friend.
The girl looked up from the desk and sighed.
“Don’t you know? Harry wasn’t delivering those flowers to his girlfriend. It was for some doctor. I am not sure about the inside news but I heard some of the main men saying that Alpha’s mate was found yesterday.” The lady said and the smile on Marianna’s face froze.
Flowers for the doctor? Doctor Alexis? But didn’t they hate each other? What the hell was going on?
Without wasting her time, she rushed to the Alpha’s cabin, barging in without even knocking.
“Alpha, is it true that you sent her flowers?” Marianna asked.
Augustus, who was on a call with some other alpha, raised his gaze slightly, his dark gaze a clear indication that she shouldn’t have barged in like this.
She apologized quickly and sat on the couch at some distance, waiting for her alpha to finish talking.
Once Augustus was done talking to the alpha who reported to him the mishaps of the rogues‘ attack on the greatest Pentagon loop and the alpha’s meet, he ended the call and looked up at her so–called friend.
“Have you started to lose your manners as you are aging?” Augustus asked, turning on his laptop as he typed in an email, an email full of love confessions for his wife.
He didn’t want to copy–paste words from the net. He wanted to be original with his content.
Since the red roses were received well, he was planning to send something else but was contemplating if he should deliver it himself or send someone to do it.
“Have you guys reconciled?” Marianna asked, hiding her shivering fingers as she looked at the strange smile on her

alpha face after a really long time.
“Almost,” Augustus said.
“Almost?” She asked for clarification.
“It will take some time to mollify her for sure. But there’s nothing that can’t be done with a little persuasion. No?“: Augustus asked and Marianna hit her lower lip.
“Yes, sir,” She said before exiting the cabin.
So her alpha was trying to persuade that girl to return to him but she wasn’t agreeing? Well, in that case, her work was really easy. She just needed to go and ensure that Alexis didn’t see the serious efforts their alpha was making.
“Marianna, can you draft the report of “One of the employees walked to her, but before he could even finish his sentence, Marianna placed her hand on her head and swayed in her place.
“I am sorry, Ethan, but I am feeling under the weather. I might need to go to see the doctor,” she said.
“Are you okay? Do you need me to tell the alpha? Ethan asked, and Marianna faked a hesitant smile.
“Don’t do it. I already worry him enough, Marianna said and Ethan nodded before leaving.
Without wasting a single second, Marianna left for the hospital.
“Doctor Alexis,” Marianna said, and the nurse who was there two days ago when Alpha Augustus brought the girl, thought that the girl was here to have a consultancy regarding her health and immediately booked her appointment with Alexis,
At the same time, Alexis, who was taking a small break from the hectic schedule, pressed her lips into a thin line as she remembered what happened the previous night, how the alpha begged her to stay.
She was tempted. She wouldn’t lie to herself. Her mind and heart were in great dilemma, but if she had stayed, she would’ve mocked herself and all the pain she had to suffer in that relationship.
Thus, she left immediately. But she had never thought that the alpha would be persistent and send her flowers today. She needed to deal with the problem once and for all
Marianna, who didn’t have enough patience to wait for her appointment number, looked around and when she saw. the nurse left, she was about to turn the knob of Alexis’s door and enter the room when
