Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 218 Three People's Trip
Jean tried hard to smile, but Jesse detected something missing in it. There was a tinge of irony somewhere in that smile which made Jesse cringe with discomfort. Not caring much about Jesse, Jean had her breakfast leisurely.
'I will never let an intruder snatch away from me what is mine, ' Jean thought and then flashed Jesse her cruellest smile.
'And since Jesse enjoys acting so much, it's time to show my acting skills to her so that she knows who the real boss is.'
The scene near the table happened in silence. Both the women were in some sort of trance, lost within their own schemes and plans.
As if to break the silence, Zed entered the room and gave them both an opportunity to get back to reality.
At first, a cloud of suspicion passed through his face, but the ladies put on their best smile instantly turning his frown into a smile.
"Have you finished yet?" He asked and raised his eyebrows just like he always did when he waited for an answer. For a second, his eyes met Jean's and he felt relieved to notice she had calmed down completely. Seeing that they put down their knives and forks, he called back to the ladies, "Okay, let's go!" Jesse quickly walked near Zed, leaving Jean behind with anger.
Seeing this, an idea popped into Jean's mind. She quickened her pace and screamed, "Zed! I feel too full. Can you hold me while we walk?"
Instantly, Zed was consumed with concern and happily offered his help. "Should I carry you?" he insisted with nothing but sincerity.
"Don't exaggerate it, Zed!" she went on pushing him playfully. Looking behind, Jean caught a glimpse of Jesse's ghastly horror-struck expression. Jean smiled and placed her hands on his arm. "Just hold me slowly."
They both walked together like a happy couple and now Jesse was the one left behind.
Jesse was furious with Jean and her petty games.
'This is Jean's cheap trick!
How dare she challenge me!
I will show you who is more important to brother Zed, just wait and watch!
I have never lost a game!'
Zed held Jean carefully all the way to the car. He then thoughtfully fastened her seat-belt before getting to the driver's seat.
Then, he waited for Jesse to get in and began the ride. Suddenly, his happiness was drained and replaced by a frown.
He just realized the whole thing had been a sham. Jean was not the type to entice or show affection in public, and this came as a big surprise. And now he figured this out by looking at her expression. 'Complaining that she felt too full was just an excuse. In reality, all she really wanted was to flirt with me in front of Jesse.
Why is it so important for her to prove our love?
When the love is true, you don't feel the need to show it to others,' he thought sadly.
And then Zed watched Jesse in the rear-view mirror. He found her biting her lips and sulking like a 4-year-old child.
'Did Jean and Jesse have an unpleasant time with each other while I was away?' he thought gravely.
Zed was frustrated with this cat fight and had had enough of it. 'We should have a happy trip. When will they both start acting like adults?'
Internally, his thoughts were killing him, but he tried to maintain a calm posture outside.
'It seems that I have to come up with something big to reconcile them.
Otherwise, I'll end up having the most miserable trip of my life!'
Zed had an idea in mind. He looked up at Jean and Jesse, "We seldom get a chance to have such a trip. Is there anything you want to do while we are on it?"
"We just have two days, brother Zed, so just fishing and swimming in the resort will do," Jesse said casually, and sounded like she didn't care much about this trip.
On the contrary, Jean looked at Zed with a smile and asked, "I don't know much about recreation. Do you have any good recommendation?"
"There are barbecue utensils over there. How about having a barbecue party to have fun?" He looked at Jean and waited, expecting an answer.
"A barbecue party? Do you mean to invite your friends to come together?" Jean asked in surprise.
Hearing Zed's recommendation, Jesse also looked confused and started to frown.
'A dinner party? How can there be a party atmosphere with just three people? I wonder what is going on in brother Zed's mind!'
"Yeah, what do you think of this?" Zed looked at them with a tinge of frustration for they still hadn't answered his question.
More people may make the atmosphere livelier. That way, Jean and Jesse would have to stay friends.
If Zed was lucky, they might even get along after playing a couple of games together!
Having such thoughts, Zed dreamt about better days when he wouldn't get tangled in silly cat fights.
Jean suddenly felt a little worried. She had already sent their destination to Eva who would come to create trouble.
Among so many people, Eva might not be able to stay alone with Zed and might end up having no chance. On top of that, Jean didn't know what horrible things Eva would do.
Watching Jean's reaction, Jesse concluded she wasn't happy with Zed's recommendation, and a devilish smile played on her face.
To be honest, Jesse wasn't very happy about this party idea either. 'Parties are not lively, but chaotic,' she thought with frustration.
'Three people are fine, but too many people could spoil it and...' Thinking of that disorderly scene, Jesse was extremely disturbed. 'But...
Jean doesn't want to agree, either. Does she want to flirt with brother Zed in front of me throughout the trip?
I can't stand that anymore!
Jean, do you enjoy acting all shy and cute?
Well, let me see how you manage to keep up with your charade in front of people.'
"That's great!" Jesse screamed enthusiastically. "I agree with you. The more the merrier. After all, the whole purpose of this trip is to have fun, so why not invite many people? If there are only three of us, we can just stay at home. Brother Zed, don't you think so?" Jesse innocently started planning the party which made Zed smile with a sense of accomplishment for having convinced her. Jean, on the other hand, looked at Jesse in surprise. She couldn't believe Jesse agreed to this ridiculous idea.
'It seems I really can't figure out what's going inside this woman's head.'
"Now that you both agree, so do I," Jean said without really sounding happy.
"Well, I'll start off by calling Zack right now to ask them to come over. Also, let them buy some barbecue food and necessities." Saying that, Zed dug his pocket to get a hold of his cell phone and dialed Zack's number.
Jean was deep in thoughts and contemplated how to make her plan work under the circumstances.
Seeing the expression of doom on Jean's face, Jesse did a dance of victory inside her head.
'Jean, the show is just beginning. Let's wait and see.'
The rest of the drive went on smoothly. It was already afternoon when they finally arrived at the nearby resort.
Taking the luggage into the reserved room and looking out at the beautiful scenery outside the window, Jean felt her worry drift away. The change of atmosphere had done her some good, she thought hopefully.
Yet again, Jean's thoughts went back to the expression of jealousy that passed through Jesse's face when Zed mentioned Jesse would be staying in a separate room.
She clearly remembered how Jesse's face turned into a color palette showing every color in the world.
However, worry also came along.
'Jesse has put a move on me. I can tell she is going to play her dirty tricks.'
Thinking of this, Jean sighed slightly. Just as she was about to turn around, a pair of warm and powerful hands wrapped her comfortably.
"What are you thinking about, my dear?" Zed asked with sincerity. Making his grip stronger, Zed put his chin on her shoulder. His warm breath blew gently into her ear, and once again she forgot all her worries. 000000☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
