Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 242 Jesse, Stop
"I believed you." Jean agreed but a sarcastic smile grew on her face. Inside her heart, she thought, 'Your feelings for Zed is so obvious and any idiot can tell it is the love a woman has for a man.
You always stare at my husband covetously and use every opportunity to try to break us apart.
Jesse, do you think I am so weak that you can fool me into believing your bullshit?'
"Since you believe me, please don't say anything to hurt the sibling-like affection between me and Zed. Jean, do you understand what I mean? Zed has been under a lot of pressure lately because of both work and family-related problems. If you love him, you have to understand him and support him unconditionally."
Jesse tried to make it sound like Jean was the immature one here.
"Of course, that is what I should do as I am his wife. For instance, When I see some woman approaching him or hitting on him then I act logically by putting on an understanding expression. To tell you the truth, I am proud of myself."
Jean sighed and hoped Jesse detected the sarcasm in her words.
"I hope you are talking about Eva, right?" Jesse asked even though she knew Jesse was referring to her. "That is a free gift you get when you marry such a perfect man. Zed is so excellent. You can expect to see a lot of women coveting over him. Jean, you have to watch out. Some woman might steal him without even you realizing it until it's too late."
The teasing smile played on Jesse's face. Her pretentious empathy disgusted Jean to a great extent.
She put on a smile that outshone Jesse's smile. "I don't think I need to worry. I know how Zed feels about me. Why should I get myself worked up over some bitches. I believe in our love and know Zed would never cheat on me. Trust is the foundation of our love." Seeing Jean beaming with confidence and pleasure, Jesse's face darkened immediately.
"Jean, you are too young. You have been with Zed for only a short time, so you don't know him all that well. Everything I said is for your own good. Now it is up to you to listen or not. If you don't like what I just said, then forget it." Apparently, Jesse was a little displeased by Jean's words and confidence.
"Jesse, you are not upset with me, are you? I am glad you care enough for me to give me a heads-up. I truly appreciate it."
"Of course not. Why should I be upset?" Jesse asked agitatedly. And then she forced a smile and continued, "I am so happy that you and Zed love each other. It is great that you have so much trust in each other."
"Jesse, if you envy us, why don't you look for someone who loves you? You know how my life was before. I didn't even have self-esteem until I met Zed. Now Zed adores me, micromanages my life and does everything to keep me happy. I have never been so happy before. You are so pretty and capable. You surely will replace your own happiness."
Jean watched Jesse and said with a smile.
Hearing this advice, Jesse turned pale, and she chuckled awkwardly, "Love is not something you can come by easily. I believe in destiny. If I am blessed, I surely would like to share my life with the man of my life."
"Your mindset is really commendable. I don't know you very well. Listen, I have a plan. How about I ask Zed to keep an eye out for some potential candidates. After all, you grew up together. He knows your likes and dislikes very well," Jean suggested looking excited. "Potential candidates? What do you mean? You want Zed to set me up with someone? Jean, you are underestimating my value. I can have any man I want. I don't need your or Zed's help in making such a life-altering decision." Jesse was pissed at Jean for talking about her life like it was some sort of game.
"I just..." Jean didn't expect Jesse would get this furious. She was amused inside but she pretended to be shocked. "Jesse, I am sorry if I said something wrong. Please don't take me wrong. I know you are charming and have tons of admirers behind you. You are not very young and it is a shame that you haven't had many serious relations. I was just so worried about you."
"You are worried about me? I am not worried about myself. Why should you be worried about me? I am happy the way I am. Maybe you have some hidden agenda. You just can't see me happy..."
Jesse accused Jean with gritted teeth.
"Jesse..." Zed, who had been lying on the deck chair, was finally awakened by the noise coming from these girls. He heard the last bit of it and said, "What Jean is saying is for your good. Why are you mad at her instead of being grateful? She cares so much about you." "Zed..." Jesse's anger multiplied seeing Zed come to Jean's rescue. She turned back to watch Zed and couldn't believe he actually uttered those words.
"Zed, we woke you up." Jean smiled pleasantly knowing he was on her side.
"Yeah. I was sleeping well but the commotion you two created woke me up." Zed walked over to Jean's side and looked at Jesse. "Jesse, Jean has a point. You are not very young now. It is time for you to have a serious relationship."
"Zed, why are you speaking in this tone to me?" Jesse couldn't get mad at Zed because she loved him so much. She put on an aggrieved face and said, "I am happy to be alone. Why should I have a boyfriend to control me? You just can't see me enjoy my life and thus want to impose a boyfriend on me to control me, isn't it?"
Hearing these words, Zed looked offended. "Jesse, you are being completely unreasonable." Zed chided her. "We are doing what we think is good for you. If you don't like, just forget what we said."
Zed's face displayed suppressed anger.
"Zed..." Jesse realized she had angered Zed. She gritted her teeth secretly and threw a hostile glare at Jean, and then softened her tone looking back at Zed. "All right. I know you are just like my parents. You can't understand how a girl can be happy without any partner. If like them, you want to interfere in my business then I can't stay here anymore..."
Saying this, Jesse stomped away into the house.
"Where are you going?" Zed called back, turning red with anger.
"Where can I go to? I just know I can't stay here. I can't stay at my home either. I am going to get my things and roam wherever I want."
Jesse bit her lower lip in resentment and it started to bleed.
"Jesse! If you walk away now, then our relationship is over." Zed fumed with anger and meant every word he uttered.
"You..." Jesse never imagined Zed would become heartless. 'How could he say such cruel things to me?' she thought and tears rolled down her eyes.
However, she felt she was being watched by Jean. She quickly wiped the teardrop off her face since she didn't want to come across as weak.
She took a deep breath and stared Zed with her reddened eyes. "Fine! I don't know you, if you choose to be heartless then I don't need you in my life." After venting her anger, she turned around and started to run away from those two people who humiliated her.
"Jesse, stop!" said Jean who had been silent for a long time.
She was astonished to see the turn of events. 000000
