Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 258 Nothing Happened Last Night
Standing a little too distant from the bed, Zed looked at Jesse in a daze, and then he cried out in horror and panic, "Jesse... why are you here..." The great panic made him pale and even his voice trembled.
Hearing Zed's screams, Jesse's confused eyes suddenly became sober, and the sleepiness on her face disappeared instantly. Wrapping herself in the quilt, she sat up and tried to make sense of the situation. "Last night... it seems that we both got... drunk..." 'Drunk...'
At Jesse's mention of drunk, Zed slowly recalled fragments of what happened last night. But when he saw that they two were almost naked, his face turned extremely cold.
It shocked him to see Jesse beside him, but now the fact they only wore underwear crept him out. 'Where is our outer garments? How did they disappear?'
While figuring out what happened, he suddenly stopped for a moment. 'What was the noise that woke us up?' he thought.
Before he could look near the door, Jesse yelled out, "Brother Zed, where are our clothes? And last night..."
"Nothing happened last night!" Zed interrupted her coldly.
'Nothing happened?'
On hearing this, Jean became sober from shock and touched the wall beside her.
She thought coldly, 'Zed, look at the romantic scene. How can you say that nothing happened between the two of you?
A couple of near-naked man and woman have spent the whole night in a bed, and you are all in a lustful age. You say nothing happened last night, just sleeping. Who would believe it?'
"That's right! Brother Zed, we were very close when we were small, and sometimes we slept together..." Jesse had a secure smile on her face at once. Jesse's words were even more ridiculous! How could she compare this to their childhood days? Could childhood be the same as adulthood? Hearing this, Jean was already in such a sour mood that she didn't know what expression to maintain.
"Oh, Jean! Why are you here?"
Jesse gazed near the door. When she saw Jean, she opened her mouth wide in surprise and cried out in dismay.
Hearing Jesse's exclamation, Zed, facing the other side, immediately turned to look. When he saw Jean's eyes staring sadly at him, a trace of panic flashed through his heart.
"Je..." Zed almost blurted out Jean's name but couldn't do it. He thought of their quarrel last night and closed his mouth, thinking he owed her no explanation.
When she noticed Zed's attempt at ignoring her, Jean burst into laughter.
"You two haven't returned home all night. I got worried about you, so I come here to have a look. But I am surprised to see that you two are enjoying so much. Thank you for broadening my horizons. Now I'll exit and leave the space for you."
Jean finished speaking and took a deep look at Zed. But he just frowned and did not look at her again.
As the bitterness in her heart increased, Jean turned angrily and strode outside without hesitation.
"Jean..."
Jesse hurried to get up and go after her, but Zed stopped Jesse at once.
"Don't call her, let her go!"
Zed said coldly.
"Brother Zed, Jean saw us like this early in the morning. I'm afraid she will misunderstand us..." Jesse said in a hurry.
"Never mind. If Jean wants to misunderstand, it's her choice." Zed got dressed quickly and continued, "Put your clothes on first."
After that, he turned and went out of the bedroom.
Seeing Zed go out, Jesse's confused expression on her face slowly became a complex look.
Getting completely dressed, she walked out of the bedroom and saw Zed sitting on the sofa in the living room, looking back and forth with an empty beer can.
"Brother Zed, after I thought about it carefully, I think I'd better go and explain it to Jean to clear all the doubts. Last night, your relationship almost drowned. Now if she keeps misunderstanding you, then it will be difficult to repair." Jesse sat on the opposite sofa and faked an anxious look. "Jesse, tell me if you remember anything that happened after we got drunk last night?" Zed looked up at Jesse questioningly.
"Huh?" Jesse was confused, because she was still talking about Zed's troubles with Jean just now. She didn't expect him to change the subject, and so she looked at him in surprise and did not respond for a moment.
Zed, on the other hand, was frustrated, waiting for a reply.
"No, I remember nothing! I fell asleep last night after I got drunk. I don't remember what happened after that. When I woke up again, it was just now..."
Jesse frowned at once, tapped her painful head with her hand like she was trying too hard to think.
Seeing Jesse's reaction, Zed felt his headache double.
He remembered clearly that he had carried Jesse into the room, but everything else that followed was a mystery to him.
'If sleeping together is the accident, then how do we explain the scattered clothes.' Disgust crept his body.
Zed tried hard to avoid thinking what exactly happened, but his mind wouldn't go to rest.
"Brother Zed, what are you suspicious of?" Watching Zed's reaction, Jesse felt his discomfort and pried him with her question.
"I'm just thinking... how did Jean enter the room? She doesn't have the key so it's not possible to come in unless it is open. But I remember seeing you closed the door last night, didn't you, Jesse?" Zed looked at Jesse with suspicion. "Sure! I shut the door as soon as I got here," Jesse answered quickly, looked at him with a serious face.
Zed thought back to the scene when Jesse entered the room and he clearly remembered watching her close it.
'But how did Jean enter the room without the key?
And as soon as she came in, she saw Jesse and me lying in the bed. Is someone behind this?
Or is it just a coincidence?'
With too many unanswered questions, Zed got up from the sofa and fetched his coat.
"Brother Zed, where you go?" Seeing Zed going out, Jesse quickly followed him.
"Don't come up me. I have something to deal with right now. You can go home now." Zed finished and sprinted out without glancing back at Jesse.
Frustrated, Jesse stared at his leaving figure until it finally disappeared. 'What just happened!'
She hurried back to the bedroom and cleaned herself up before she rushed back home.
On the other hand, Jean was stepping outside the office. She found it hard to walk and felt herself stagger.
'I wish I didn't have to see that.'
Watching her life crumple down felt like a punch on her face.
All the time she spent with Zed felt fake to her now. She realized it was nothing but a trick from his side. 'Zed, why did you do this to me?
You said you love me, but now you're in bed with another woman, almost naked.
Well, is that how you prove your love?
You obviously know how much I dislike Jesse's relationship with you, but you still choose to be with her...
Is it because of being drunk?
Is that the excuse you will be using?
Well, that's a terrible excuse and I can never forgive you!'
Jean made up her mind to never trust Zed again.
She hated him for making her feel guilty about the video when in reality he was the real culprit.
Walking on the sidewalk with a pale and dull look, she watched the passers-by pointing their fingers at her.
She did not know how long she had been walking because inside her head it felt like ages. Anyway, she didn't stop until she was called from behind. "Jean..."
Hearing this call, she frowned and turned to look behind her.
In the dazzling sunshine, a handsome young man with a vigorous face started walking towards Jean.
Jean felt a splitting headache, swayed a few times and eventually collapsed to the ground.
"Jean..."
The man called again, and this time there was a lot of worry in his voice.
'I'll just lie down for a while,'
Jean muttered to herself before she fainted. 000
