Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 303 An Untouchable Man!
"Why can't I stay here? I am a Chinese national too and I have a right to stay wherever I want!" Moore defiantly told Jean with a resolute expression. He knew what she was worried about.
"But, he is Gary Bai!" The statement seemed to concern Jean as her brows furrowed. "If your identity is known to the public and some devious person take advantage of that, you'll have to leave. Otherwise, Gary's men aren't going to let you stay in the city." Moore had thought that Jean would definitely stand by Gary, especially after replaceing out that he was his bastard child.
It was clear to him that his so-called father was untouchable. Like a God, he ruled H City! As for his own self, he was a cowering shadow in the corner who could never be exposed to the sunshine!
But surprisingly, what Jean worried about was his own safety.
Feeling touched, he comforted her in a relaxed tone, "It's okay! Don't worry about me! I never thought of acknowledging him as my father after I found out my story. And I don't care if his people ask for trouble by making our relationship known to the public. Let them do what they want!"
Shock and disbelief could be? seen clearly in her eyes as she saw the indifference on his face. She couldn't understand why he was opting to stay in H City only, even when he wanted nothing to do with his father. Surprised, she tried to confirm, "Moore, what did you say just now? When you don't want anything to do with your father, why are you insisting on staying?"
"I..." Moore was stunned by her question, but he soon composed himself and said with a wry smile, "I remember that it was you who persuaded me and therefore, I am going to stay!"
"I... You..." Feeling a little embarrassed, Jean retorted, "As your friend, I certainly hope that you will stay here. But after knowing your history, I am afraid for your safety if you stay. Please return to Chicago. At least you'll be safe!"
"Is that what you want?" Furrowing his brows? in? displeasure, Moore asked. "Now that you know I am in danger, you want to drive me away? Are you afraid that I will get you in trouble?"
"What nonsense!" Jean burst into uncontrollable laughter on his doubts. "I just don't want to see you in danger. You don't want to know your father, fine. But what if people misunderstand you and you get into trouble?"
"Okay, okay. Let's stop arguing! You know there is no way back for me no matter what I do." Before Jean could protest, Moore raised his hand to stop her.
"What?" A shadow of astonishment passed? over her face, and she warily asked. "So you mean you are going to stay here?"
"That's right! I will, and I have to stay here no matter what!" Moore gave her a firm nod.
"Things are not that absolute!" She continued her protests in an anxious tone. "Moore, how about you contact that lawyer again and see if you can go back?"
"Jean, are you honestly trying to force me to leave?" Moore sighed as he looked at her.
In fact, he knew it clearly in his heart that Jean was worried about him and was trying to be good to him.
But by no chance, was he going to change his mind!
"No, I am just afraid that..." Jean was so anxious to explain herself that she almost cried.
"Okay, I won't trouble you any more." Seeing the tears in her eyes made him feel distressed and he tried to console her. "Don't worry about me! Since the black sheep Hanley Bai already knows that I am in H City, Gary Bai's loyal subordinates will know it as well. See, I am in a hospital with little strength left, but I am still okay! I am safe and I will be. Don't be afraid! Also, I bet Gary Bai won't just sit down and watch something happen to me. After all, we share a blood bond."
"You're optimistic!" Jean replied. But thinking about their present situation, she felt what he was saying was right and let out a sigh of relief.
"I am not purely optimistic. I have facts to believe on! If he didn't want to pay much attention to me, he wouldn't have sent people to replace me." There was a subtle confidence on Moore's face.
"So, you actually don't hate him that much, do you? Is that why you came back? To have a look at the place you were born, right?" Jean wanted to know what he was thinking inside.
"Yes, that is why I came back," Moore admitted with a bitter smile. "I am curious about this place. My curiosity drove me down here and I didn't expect it to change my life so completely."
Jean replied with a sigh,"Life is full of surprises! I hope that your decision is right and this will be a new start for you!"
"Never mind that!" Knowing that Jean was still worried about him, Moore consoled her yet again. "I believe this is the first and the last time that Hanley Bai has come here for me. And I am not a skeleton in the closet." Meanwhile, Toby rushed toward Zed's ward. Seeing the anxious look on his face, Gregory and Terry, who were standing at the door immediately opened it to let him in.
"Mr. Zed..." Toby shouted in a low voice, as he strode towards Zed's bedside.
"What's up?" Zed opened his eyes and frowned on seeing the flustered expression on his face.
"I inquired about Moore Bai's identity and guess whose son he is."Toby moved closer to Zed's ears and whispered,"Gary Bai!"
"Gary Bai? Moore Bai?" Zed repeated in disbelief with furrowed eyebrows. He still couldn't believe it and asked, "Are you sure?"
"I am sure! Just now, I saw Hanley Bai from the Bai family stop him in the corridor and Moore's true identity was exposed. Mrs. Jean also knows it now." Toby confirmed.
"How could it be?" Zed found it implausible. "Uncle Gary really has another son? Toby! I want you to set about investigating it immediately and replace out the ins and outs of this matter." "Yes, sir!" Toby hurriedly responded.
"Since Moore is a member of Bai family, there should be no trouble in the hospital. Tell the doctor that I am leaving the hospital as soon as possible." Zed made up his mind and ordered Toby. "But Mr. Zed, the wound on your body?" Toby reminded him worriedly.
"Stop pretending. You know very well that my wounds are false." Zed seethed in ?anger?as he said and warned. "Don't tell anyone else! Or, I will send you some place for penal servitude." "Yes sir." Zed's words constricted his heart. Toby put on a bitter smile.
He whined in his heart, 'Mr. Zed, how could you bully me like this? It's you who said that the wounds are false and I didn't say a word. But you will frighten others and arouse suspicion if you request being discharged so abruptly.' Of course, Toby could only speak these words secretly in his heart. 00000000000☐☐☐☐☐
