Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman
Chapter 310 Almost Died

"Jean... Jean... Wake up... Wake up..."

Jean was in a daze when she heard someone yell loudly. Finally, she came out of the coma.

When she opened her eyes, her mind was completely blank.

Not knowing what to do, she blankly stared at the far-away corner and stayed silent for a long time. Noticing this, Moore was suddenly taken aback and he hurriedly waved his hand trying to get her attention. 'What's wrong?' he wondered to himself.

Only two hours had passed since Moore left her. But Jean looked as if she had experienced a disaster.

Moore badly wanted to call for a doctor. But before he could turn back and leave, he noticed that Jean had come to her senses. The past seconds had been awful for him, but now he sighed out of relief.

"Jean, what's wrong with you? You scared me to death..." Moore still sounded scared while he recalled her condition. "You were well when I left. Then, why did you faint?"

'Faint?' Jean wondered. Things were blurry and nothing made sense to her.

After racking her brain, she slowly recollected the incident that brought her to this.

As this scene ran across her mind again, Jean intuitively felt a shiver run down to her spine.

'Moore, it's not just you who got scared to death. In actuality, I almost died!' Jean thought.

Consumed with grief, she involuntarily closed her eyes. Deep down, she started to wonder why she didn't actually die.

By now, some of the scenes replayed inside her mind with clarity. She remembered that Shirley had shown up. 'Instead of helping Joy, she persuaded her to let me go, 'thought Jean. This piece of information puzzled her but that was how she remembered it. 'That is impossible!

Shirley hates me and would never help me!' Jean chided herself.

She was convinced that her mind had played tricks on her.

While she was lost in thoughts, a loud voice called her back to reality. "Jean, what on earth is wrong with you? Just reply to me, okay?" Moore looked pretty tense and Jean felt guilty for not acknowledging his presence.

"I'm okay," Jean said with a smile. She looked up at his tensed face and added, "I was so tired that I fell asleep..."

'Fell asleep? Didn't you faint?' Moore thought.

Doubt was still displayed on his face, but he decided he had to let it go. Moreover, Jean looked fine now and that was all that mattered to him.

"Okay. Don't scare me like this in the future," Moore warned.

"Hmm." Jean nodded at him gently, but there still remained a sadness in her eyes.

"Oh! I nearly forgot to mention. Leo gave me a phone call just now," Moore spoke hurriedly. Seeing Jean's health, this information almost slipped out of his mind.

"What?" Jean's expression of sadness was gone and now she looked curious and excited. "Did he replace Lance?" questioned Jean looking completely impatient.

"Yes, he has found him." Moore nodded at Jean smilingly. "As we have expected, Leo didn't disappoint us. He hid near Lance's apartment for several hours and caught him at last."

"And then?" Jean pried for more information.

"He admitted posting the video online, but Eva made him remove it after she came to know about it. Then, he quickly deleted the post. He clearly had no idea as to what happened after that," finished Moore. Now Jean felt silly about being excited because the mission hadn't progressed at all.

The worst part was they hadn't received a single clue. Her happy face turned sulky once again.

'So our sole clue has become useless and now we have no clue at all?' Jean wondered, 'Lance is not the one behind all this. But something is so strange about this!

Some parts of the video online are similar to that edited by Lance. I cannot believe that Lance has no clue for us.

I am pretty sure Lance must have known something. Maybe he is an accomplice if he is not the chief plotter.'

All of a sudden, Jean was filled with rage. She grabbed Moore's arm and said, "Moore, give Leo a call right away and tell him not to take this lightly. I am sure that Lance knows who is behind all this. Ask him to continue investigating this incident. Ask him to keep following Lance!"

"Are you sure?" Moore asked her with a quizzical look.

"Yes, I am sure. The editing techniques of both the videos are too similar to be a coincidence. I can detect many similarities even if the new video was more professional. Don't you remember that I am a photographer? I can easily identify the techniques and angles of a shot." The more she spoke, the more agitated she sounded. Her dull and glassy eyes now started to glow with passion.

This surprised Moore since he hardly ever saw Jean behave like this.

He was a little reluctant to leave her alone, but when he noticed that Jean was staring at him with eagerness, he had no choice but to nod. "Okay, I will call Leo right away," he said.

Knowing Moore had to leave, Jean slowly loosened her grip off Moore's arm and she seemed quite cheery now.

After days of despair, she thought she finally found some signs of breakthroughs.

At that moment, Jean had a new found love for her life and was glad to be alive.

She believed that life was full of possibilities and she had to fight as long as she was alive.

'Joy, I will not let you off so easily!

And I am not going to let go of the video incident either. I still have no idea who that person is, but I promise to replace out.

On top of that, I will make all of you pay for what you have done to me as long as I am alive, ' Jean muttered to herself feeling vengeful.

On the other side, Moore spoke on the phone and turned it off now.

Looking at Jean, he was surprised by the vengeful look on Jean's face.

There was a sort of resoluteness and piercing coldness in her eyes.

"Jean..." Moore tried calling her. Having only left for a short while, he was so stunned to notice how she managed to change in a matter of seconds.

Upon hearing Moore's call, Jean was brought back to her senses leaving behind her wild thoughts.

"I spoke to Leo on phone. He replaces Lance very suspicious, just like you. Now he is tracking Lance..." Moore explained to Jean.

"It seems that we have found the right guy for the favor." With some clues at hands, Jean let out a sigh of relief and smiled.

"Yes." Moore nodded approvingly, then chuckled and added, "Do you still remember what we thought of him when we saw him for the first time? I remember that vividly. At that time, I thought that he was either a swindler or a weirdo."

As she recalled the scene when they met Leo for the first time, Jean couldn't help bursting into laughter. "Yeah!" she replied after she controlled her laughter. Later, she spoke in a serious tone, "There are many opportunities in our lives, and we never know what is in store for us.We met Leo. Perhaps it was God's decision for him to help us."

"It seems that you are very sentimental today," Moore replied. Jean indeed astonished him today with her sudden mood change.

"Hmm." Jean nodded and added, "I have suddenly realized that in actuality, it is extremely hard for us to live and survive in this world."

"Why do you think so?" Now Moore was really concerned. There was something very odd about her words.

"I haven't realized until today that I have been fooled and tricked several times in my life." With the mention of all this, Jean's eyes started to blur with tears. Seeing her sadness, Moore had no idea how to console her. "Jean..." Moore called her name as he didn't know what to say.

Jean sniffed, stared at Moore and replied in a resolute tone, "I have a lot of work to do now. Moore, you have to recover as soon as possible. Don't let anyone bully you again."

"Okay." From her words, Moore knew that Jean concealed something from him. But since Jean didn't wish to tell him, Moore figured it would be inappropriate to prob her. "Will you go somewhere with me right now?"0000☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
