Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman
Chapter 320 The Complex Smile

"What happened?" Zed enquired as he looked at the guilty expression on Jesse's face with furrowed eyebrows.

"Were you talking to her near the stairs just now? I saw her running angrily towards your study to replace you, so I stopped her. Maybe I said something inappropriate. She was looking rather upset," Jesse told nervously.

Zed's brows furrowed even more tightly. Glancing at her anxious expressions, he sighed, "She'll be fine. Don't worry."

He patted her on the shoulder to comfort her.

Jesse nodded. "Will you talk to her? I meant no harm you know?"

"Okay. I'll tell her." Zed answered vaguely and went back into the bedroom.

Jesse looked on as his back receded away from her. Slowly, a complacent, complex smile crept over her face.

She thought to herself, 'Jean, you are not my rival. Hum.'

Zed quietly pushed the door open and immediately noticed the darkness inside.

The blackness seemed to startle him, 'Isn't she here? Did she run away because of Jesse?'

Worried by the idea, Zed reached out a hand and switched on the lights.

Jean was crouching on the bed and seeing her asleep, he breathed a sigh of relief as his face softened.

He walked toward her step by step, careful not to make a sound, afraid she would wake up.

Through the warm light, he saw that Jean, covered in her quilt, was in a sound sleep, with her back turned towards him.

Though only one side of her face visible, it satisfied him and he licked his lips.

The void in him, which had been there for days now, suddenly seemed filled. A great sense of pacification overwhelmed him.

He took his bathrobe cheerfully and walked into the bathroom, humming a soft tone in sync with the flow of water.

Jean slowly opened her eyes, but didn't turn back. She just kept them wide open and slightly furrowed her brows.

The bed was so familiar to her but what she felt was totally alien and made her anxious.

She waited for Zed to walk out, as her anxiousness grew.

When she heard the door of the bathroom open, she closed her eyes again instantly.

She had heard him turn on the light and his footsteps draw near. She had even felt his gaze as he looked at her face. These things seemed to shudder her mind. Though Zed wouldn't have done something to her, she was still deeply scared at the moment.

She was scared that he had already seen through her ruse and knew that she wasn't asleep. She was even more scared that he would expose her, to make the situation more embarrassing. But suddenly, she laughed at herself in her mind.

'How is that possible?

Even though he knew I was awake, why would he do such a stupid thing?

He seemed to be in a good mood tonight.'

Jean slightly turned her head and looked towards the direction of the bathroom.

His vague humming touched her ears.

Jean's furrowing brows relaxed and a smile started to show on her face.

Who would have thought that the famous Mr. Qi hummed out of tune?

In other words, his humming was intolerable.

Jean smiled and shook her head, but soon she came back to her senses. The smile on her face suddenly disappeared. She was smiling...

Jean touched her smiling face with her heart pounding and quickly held it back, covering herself with the quilt tightly. 'Jean, how can you be like this?'

She couldn't have been more remorseful, as she covered herself totally with the quilt.

Thinking that Zed would be out of the bathroom soon, she quickly stuck her head out of the quilt.

She had meant to look into the direction of the bathroom, but instead saw a figure standing in front of the bed. She was petrified.

Zed was also startled while wiping his hair. Surprised, he looked at Jean, whose face had reddened in shame.

What happened?

He was just having a shower and Jean already woke up?

So was she pretending to be asleep?

If that was the case, what was happening just now?

Jean was so embarrassed that her whole face turned red.

A trace of disappointment flashed through Zed's eyes. He had known something was up.

Seeing Zed's expression, Jean knew what he was thinking. She felt a meltdown inside and could't help crying out,"Ah..."

In spite of everything, she covered herself tightly once again with the quilt.

Seeing her covering herself from head to toe, Zed smiled and continued to wipe his hair.

Jean, hiding in the quilt, soon found out that something was not right.

Though the air-conditioner was on, she couldn't stand the heat and stuffiness she encountered by covering herself all up.

It was not two minutes before she started to move again.

But thinking of Zed being outside, she was hesitant to take the quilt off.

'I should wait for a moment.

He might leave seeing me inside the quilt,'

Jean comforted herself. Soon perspiration began to come out on her forehead.

Her face reddened because of the stuffiness. She breathed heavily, but didn't dare take off the quilt.

Zed waited and crawled into the bed after his hair had dried.

Seeing Jean move like a silkworm because of the heat, Zed was amused and let her be. He took his phone and started to browse randomly. Evidently, he was in a good mood. Jean couldn't stand it anymore, so she listened carefully but heard nothing. After she was sure that there was nobody outside, she let out a hot breath and took off her quilt. When she was about to exhale all the heat in her body, she saw Zed glaring at her and she was petrified.

'So he hadn't left. He was still there,'

Jean asked herself repeatedly in her mind. 'How could that be? The whole quilt was occupied by her. Why was he still there?' "Hehe... I am hot..." Jean felt the embarrassing atmosphere, so she smiled foolishly and waved her hand to cool herself down.

When Zed's eyes fixated themselves on her messy clothes, they glittered. He suddenly held out a hand toward Jean, his face unchanged.

Jean's hand paused. Seeing Zed's hand coming toward her, she stared and said, "You... What do you want?"

Hearing her, Zed's hand stopped. He looked at her silently, but continued to reach forward.

Jean couldn't help but close her eyes. She was nervous inside and kept rubbing her clothes with her fingers, her heart pounding heavily. 'Now what?

I can't rival him orally. And I can't rival him physically.

What can I do?'☐☐☐☐
