Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman -
Chapter 504 Listen To Me This Time
Zed grimaced in pain as Jean was unable to see from his perspective.
"Please listen to me this time. Try and stay away from him. Jean, I rarely ask you to do anything for me. Please understand my feelings about this. Please, Jean, take care and listen to me this time!" Zed's continuous pleas surprised Jean.
'Maybe he really means what he says. He is saying this because he cares for me instead of treating this lightly.'
Jean became serious and thought over why Zed had been entreating her.
On the other hand, Zed looked at Jean in trepidation, waiting for an answer.
After what seemed like a long time, Jean looked down at her shoes and said, "Zed, you don't have to worry about this. I am not on intimate terms with Calvin. So, we won't meet each other often. Besides, I know you will always stay by my side no matter what happens." "But sometimes I can't keep you company. If Calvin invites you to go somewhere, you must not go out with him alone," Zed warned Jean with a solemn look.
"It seems like Calvin is a beast, if I go by how you speak of him. Are you really afraid that he will eat me?" Jean joked playfully. "Don't worry. I can tell whether a person is good or bad."
"Jean..." Seeing that Jean had not promised him directly, Zed instantly shouted exasperated.
"Okay, I promise you. Whether Calvin wants to chat with me or invites me to go somewhere, I will refuse him without hesitation. Is that okay?" Seeing Zed so edgy, Jean gave in to his fears and compromised.
Zed was rather reassured after hearing Jean's promise.
"I am saying this not because I am too cautious. But..." Suddenly, Zed stopped mid-sentence.
Without saying anything more, Zed moaned in his heart.
'Jean, you will understand it sooner or later.'
"But what?" Seeing that Zed had stopped in the middle of his sentence, Jean's curiosity was stoked.
"But now you are pregnant. How can I not be cautious?" Zed quickly tried to cover it up.
Zed's being protective of their baby always brought a smile to Jean's face. She uttered, "I see. Since I am pregnant, you are more cautious for me. Don't worry! I will care about our baby as much as you do. I will protect our baby well."
"Well, now that you echo my feelings this way, I feel relieved." Zed finally had calmness overcome him. He looked at Jean serenely and asked, "Aren't you angry now?"
"If I were still angry with you, I wouldn't have been talking with you now." Jean looked at Zed, pleased with herself.
Zed reached out and lifted Jean up, gently placing her on the bed covered with petals.
He said in a soft seductive voice, "It is a pity that Maranda's romantic preparation can't be used, but..."
Zed suddenly laughed out meaningfully.
"But what?" Jean's heartbeat quickened and she hastily asked what Zed meant.
"But I can exercise my right to kiss you." This time too, he gently swept lower and held her lips in his in a soft, moist kiss.
Jean wanted to push him away. But seeing Zed lose himself in her, Jean gave in to his desire for her.
'We will just kiss. This will not hurt the baby.'
Jean too swept by the tide of emotions both of them were feeling, wrapped her arms around Zed's neck and lost herself in passion. After a long while, Zed suddenly extracted himself from her embrace and got out of bed. Quickly, he walked into the bathroom.
Jean sat on the bed, panting. Hearing the noise of flowing water, Jean immediately understood what had happened.
Her cheeks flushed with shyness.
Jean could not help touching her belly protectively. She gently murmured, "My darling baby, mommy and daddy are very much looking forward to you being born. I will love you more than anything else in the world. Unlike me, you will have a happy childhood..." A gush of memories flooded Jean as she thought of her childhood.
'What nonsense is this?
How can I tell my baby a sad experience?
I must never chat with the baby in this way from now on. I don't want him or her to be influenced by my past life in any way.
I have to pay attention to fetal education.
Fetal education?'
The words rang in Jean's eyes. In a flash, she took out her mobile phone and surfed the Internet in excitement.
At this moment, Zed came out of the bathroom and saw Jean sitting on the bed with her eyes fixed on the phone.
As he dried his hair, Zed walked over to Jean and asked, "What are you doing? What are you so animated for?"
"Zed, I am surfing the Internet for fetal education. You won't believe how many materials are there to start educating your baby while it is still a fetus." Jean handed her mobile phone to Zed, showing him what she had found.
Zed glanced at her with a smile, and sat down beside her. "Jean, just let nature take its own course! Otherwise, do you want to train our child to be a genius? All of us will be tired if we try to achieve that..."
"You can't say so. Every parent wants their child to be the smartest one and hopes that he or she suffers few mistakes."
Jean retorted.
Clearly, everything related to the baby was crucial to Jean, and she wanted Zed involved in doing this. If she didn't know Zed any better, Jean would have thought that Zed didn't love this baby, given his disinterest in fetal education. "Okay." Seeing Jean get somewhat agitated, Zed couldn't help but give in. "As long as you are happy, I will support you in whatever you want to do."
"Really?" Jean looked at Zed and asked with a twinkle in her eye.
"Of course." Zed nodded.
"Well, I have just surfed the Internet and found some information. When I am three or four months pregnant, we can start fetal education. At that time, I hope you can go to classical music concerts and art shows with me so that our baby will start developing refined taste. And you must talk to our baby every day so that you two can already start nurturing a relationship..."
Seeing Jean dragging him in things he didn't like, Zed felt bittersweet about her momentary excitement.
Originally, he thought that Jean wanted to do these things on impulse. So, he agreed to her at that moment and not upset her.
But he did not expect Jean to ask him to start fetal education together.
'It seems I would really have to do these things.'
Noticing Zed begrudgingly say yes to her suggestion, Jean suddenly stopped talking and stared at him in frustration. "Zed, you don't want to do fetal education, do you?"
'I do feel strange about talking to the baby who has not been yet born.
I think it's okay if Jean wants to go to the classical music concerts and art shows. It'll be wonderful to take her out like this.
As for talking to the baby...'
"You definitely don't love our baby." As Zed's eyes glazed over, Jean immediately understood what he was thinking about and glared at him.
"Jean, please believe me. Of course, I love our baby." Zed looked at Jean and explained quickly, "But our baby has not been born and you ask me to talk to it. Can he hear me? I feel strange and it seems as if I will be talking to myself." Seeing Zed so awkward about the whole thing, Jean couldn't help but shake her head in defeat.
'I did not think about Zed's feelings in all this.
He looked so cold and seldom cared about others earlier. In fact, he rarely looks at others in the eye, let alone talk to others gently.
He also loves our baby but he needs some time to adapt.'
An idea struck her. Jean immediately nodded. "Okay! We should not discuss about this issue for the time being. Let's give it a rest. I will read some books on fetal education and discuss what I should do with you then." "Okay." Zed cracked his neck muscles that had gotten stiff due to their tense exchange.
'It doesn't mean that I don't want to pay attention to our baby. But it isn't born yet. Will our baby feel stressed in the future if we already have great expectations on it?
Still, Jean has been considerate of my feelings and think it's best to take some time and consider things carefully.'
Zed was moved by how Jean often understood things that he hardly put into words. He couldn't help but hug her, with happiness on his face.
After they flirted with each other for some more time, someone knocked on the door.
