I expected to be furious at the betrayal, but I felt nothing but a burning need to know why. What could have been worth it to Jay and his son to betray us all like this? It felt as though my anger was simply holding me up and pushing me to replace everything I needed to know from Andrew. "Andrew Wilson... are you related to the Skyfall pack, by chance?"

His eyes lit up, "Yes, I am. My father is the alpha."

"So you are an elite. Here Matt made it seem like this was just a party between friends..." I slid closer to him, "How did you come to get all the way down here?"

Andrew's lips twitched, "I'm in town for business."

The music changed to a sensual pace. I swayed a bit, feeling old memories starting to surface of days being taught to dance various classical dances. I thought the Genda of Fluorite who loved to dance had died.

It was oddly nice to realize that wasn't the case.

"... would you care to dance?" Andrew asked, our gazes met.

I turned to him, growing close and leaning to whisper in his ear. His cologne was nice, an old Fluorite scent that only stoked my desire to get everything I could out of him.

"Only if you can keep up."

He chuckled and set his drink aside, offering me his hand, "I assure you, I can do more than that."

I bet. Every kid who grew up in Fluorite learned at least two classical dances: the waltz and the tango.

He led me onto the dance floor and pulled me close with perfect form. My body snapped straight to meet him without trouble. He smirked.

"I hope you don't replace me too forward..."

I drew one of my legs up the side of his leg towards his hip, "I said you had better keep up."

He chuckled, low and breathy, wrapping a hand around the back of my knee and pulling me closer, setting my stance a little wider. I smiled as we began to dance. It felt like stepping into just a bit of my past as he spun me close and we sashayed across the small dance floor as if we had been partnered to dance for years.

His lifts were impeccable and I pressed as close as possible as we danced, adding in a good amount of breathy gasps to draw him in. I felt him growing hard against me and fought through nausea.

"You are quite good," he breathed into my ear, drawing me back against him so we could sashay forward. The people around the room spoke in hushed whispers as we turned and he spun me into a deep dip.

I smirked up at him, drawing my hand down his face, "You are quite adequate."

He chuckled, low and pleased as he lifted me back onto my feet to the end of the song.

"Perhaps another time when we have more of an arena," Andrew said. "I can get a better rating than adequate."
I expected to be furious at the betrayal, but I felt nothing but a burning need to know why. What could have been worth it to Jay and his son to betray us all like this? It felt as though my anger was simply holding me up and pushing me to replace everything I needed to know from Andrew.

"I'd like that," I said and drew a finger down the center of his chest. I felt his heart beating and him shuddering with need. "And maybe you will."

The room clapped for us as I saw Matt standing, stock-still in the hallway leading from the front door. He wore no mask. He didn't even look like he'd been aware that there would be a party. He wore a dress shirt that was open around his throat and slacks. He looked a bit tired too, but that faded as our gazes met.

Slowly, people turned to look up at Matt. No one commented on his lack of costume or mask. The music faded and people stopped speaking. I didn't bother to step away from Andrew as Matt's eyes narrowed at me.

Armand sighed before tapping on the microphone, "Seems like the party's over for the evening, everyone. Have a safe trip home!"

People didn't seem offended. It was beyond bizarre as they downed the alcohol in their glasses and grabbed a few more bites of food before leaving.

"I could give you a ride," Andrew said. "Or... you could come back to where I'm staying for the night if you live too far."

I shook my head, swallowing my disgust, "I have arrangements, but thank you, Andrew... Maybe next time we'll have a bigger dance floor."

He smirked and bowed, kissing my hand in a show of chivalry, "I look forward to it."

As he left, I knew that I had made an impression on Andrew that I could use to my advantage. As soon as everyone seemed to be heading out, I slipped into the first floor's bathroom and took off my mask with a shudder. I was a bit nauseous still, but that wasn't the real problem.

I was trembling with fear that he would have recognized me. I turned over every moment of our conversation and the dance, but nothing stuck out saying that he had recognized me.

The only thing I was sure of was that he wanted me. I could still feel his hands on me and the hard line of his desire against me as we danced. My stomach was churning as I splashed my face with water and tried to calm down.

It was good. His desire was something I could use against him to get what I wanted.

I had gotten confirmation that Jay was involved with the fall of Fluorite. I just needed to replace out how and why. The thought of trapping him calmed me greatly. The thought of my revenge and facing Jay was giving me more strength. They would regret it all.

I stood straight and left the bathroom. Matt was standing on the other side of the door. He looked more tired up close than he had across the room. I almost stumbled right into him. His expression was tight as he looked at me, taking in my dress and hair. He looked irritated as a flush dusted his cheeks. Was he upset about the party being held without him, or that I had gone?

"Why did you change your hair?"

That was an odd question, but I shrugged.

"I wanted to try something different." I smirked, "You don't like it? I got lots of compliments."

His jaw twitched and his eyes narrowed, "You... I never know what to think about you..." "Think about me?"

"Yes... and what you think of me."

I had a lot of things I could say in response, but I held them in because none of them seemed right. I still wasn't sure what to think of him exactly. I was certain he was connected to the massacre of my pack, but he treated me so kindly it was hard to hold onto that belief. He hadn't raped me. He hadn't forced me to do much of anything but go to weird parties in the middle of the night and shop.

"Mr. Wallber.... You are my patron." He flinched. "My savior... I am very grateful to you. What else do you want?"

"You don't like me." His eyes narrowed. "But you seemed to have liked him a lot."

Was he talking about Andrew? Was he jealous? It was such a strange thought.

"What does liking you have to do with anything?" I frowned as his eyes seemed to grow twice in size as if they would pop out of his face. It was almost funny to see him so shocked. "We don't have a relationship that makes liking possible. You bought me from a brothel." "You're not a whore."

I shrugged, "So you say, but I still don't have a position in society that makes liking a possibility either."

I had given up any dream of love, mates, happiness, and the joy that my parents had until they were killed a long time ago. I'd had to let those dreams go to make way for my revenge and to cope with the reality of being sold into s*x work. His jaw clenched, "You.... are always..."

He blew out a breath through his clenched teeth, "This position you think you have now includes the tango though? How does that make sense?" "It's a dance."

"It's not just a dance!" He huffed. "If it were a waltz or something, it would be different, but he was-I can smell him on you."

His lips curled to reveal his teeth in a sneer, "And you were enjoying it."

I chuckled, "Mr. Wallber, you're jealous? Do you want to dance with me too?"

I gestured to the empty dance floor in the living room, "No one's here. I'm all yours."

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head, "That's not... You're driving me crazy."

"Me?" I asked, despite myself. "I haven't done anything. I just went to the party. I didn't realize that you didn't-"

"Renda," he cut in, lowering his head so I couldn't see his expression. "Trinity is dead."
