Auctioned Mates Revenge -
Chapter 65
Glenda's
POV
Felix drove us from the office to Club Heaven. Emoni and I were clinging to each other's hands for strength in the back seat. My heart was still racing. Of all the people I had expected to run into in Midnight, Ben Wallber had never crossed my mind. I couldn't even parse out anything of use from the conversation or speculate about what he was there for around the panic. I glanced at Emoni and found her pale. She was probably not much better.
Felix had gone almost silent in the front seat, smoking another cigarette as he drove. This one was Mellow; I was sure of it from the faint smell of lavender and mountain chamomile.
He pulled up in front of Club Heaven and escorted us in. As soon as the doors closed behind us, it seem all three of us took a deep breath of relief.
Felix gave a wry smile. He seemed a bit pale too.
"Not going to lie, Alpha Ben's always given me the creeps."
He chuckled and walked forward, "With any luck, I'll replace a way out of that damned dinner. Shall we take a look?"
The foyer was completed. The flooring was gleaming and polished. I didn't know exactly what it was made out of, but it was nice. The gaudy decorations were replaced with polished modern lines and a neutral palette. The lounging area had been turned into a bunch of booths. The upper levels and back walls had been replaced with mirrored walls. The ceiling looked as though it was split in half, revealing a bunch of metal platforms that I didn't recognize.
Felix let out a whistle, "This is definitely a club I'd like to come to!"
He stepped under the open ceiling and called up to one of the workers.
"Good to see you again! I hear you're supposed to be making me a fantasy club."
The man laughed, "Fantasy, for sure."
He fiddled with a switch and the lights turned off before they began to strobe. Spotlight whizzed around in different colors and Felix cheered. "Alright. All we're missing is some music. Tell me that platform is for what I think it's for."
"Maybe."
I didn't know what they could possibly be for and I almost didn't want to replace out. Felix hummed and turned around eyeing the platforms. "We're going to need dance classes, pronto," he murmured. "He said there was staff already?"
"Yes, I think they should all be set up now at the apartments."
Felix gestured ahead, "Well, ladies, let's take a look around at this place while they're fiddling with whatever they're fiddling with."
We walked out of the main room towards the far wall where the first-floor bar was. There was a dumbwaiter behind the bar that led up to the second floor and a sleek-looking staircase. We walked up through the other lounge room, VIP rooms, and a few other places upstairs. All the rooms upstairs had been redone to booths and private party rooms with their own bars.
It looked so different I almost couldn't imagine that this had once been Club Heaven.
We walked back downstairs as Felix looked around.
"Where do those doors lead?" He asked pointing to the set of mirrored doors where the entrance to the dorms downstairs used to be.
"Downstairs." Emoni said, "They used to be dorms, but I have no idea what they are now."
Felix walked towards it and pushed the doors aside. They slide apart and led into the redecorated hallway. Felix hummed and walked down the stairs. We followed. The walls were painted black. The stairs were light with soft red lights and the light bulbs were all red. There was a desk set up at the bottom of the stairs before we reached any of the rooms. Felix walked behind it and checked the drawers.
"Keys, a wolfsbane breathalyzer..." he murmured and pulled out a set of keys. "A charging station for a tablet. Seems like rentable rooms to me."
Rentable for what? I was under the impression that the club was supposed to be just a club.
He walked to the first door and opened it before gasping. His eyes flickered with light and a devious grin spread across his face.
"Well, well, Matt, you shouldn't have."
I walked up behind him, curious, and peered in. There was a cross on one side of the room, a leather-covered bed with sturdy-looking rings in the headboard, and the four posters of the bed. There was a bathroom attached to the room and a closet as well as a wall of fetish implements.
Felix walked in, looking around and checking the drawers.
"A... dungeon?" I asked. Emoni looked distinctly uncomfortable as she remained on the outside of the room.
"A well-stocked dungeon," Felix said, "Very hard to come by. Whispers about this will certainly draw a crowd."
My stomach lurched, "I thought this was supposed to be a crowd, not a brothel."
He frowned and looked at me, "I don't think we're talking about the same thing."
"H-He said that no one working here would have to... sleep with people."
Felix frowned, "Yes, and?"
"He's planning on getting prostitutes then?"
Felix's eyes widened and I could see the moment he understood as he shook his head.
"No, Renda. These rooms are for rent for couples to enjoy themselves. It's not like a brothel. It's a fetish club attached to a nightclub."
Felix walked towards me and led us away from the room back to the small booth. He opened the tablet that was there and typed on it.
"See?" He said, pointing to the screen. "The consent checklist is here. Breathalyzer results, wristbands, etc. The release forms, all of that. He's setting it up as optional."
I looked at him strangely, "Why... would anyone want to be tied up and whipped."
There was nothing enjoyable about it. He gave me a wry smile, "Well, Renda. Ask Matt about it one day. I think he'd kill me for putting the moves on you or Emoni."
He wiggled his eyebrows and turned, "I'll come back and explore myself. You two seem uncomfortable. Let's get upstairs so I can replace Matt's full plan, hm?"
I followed him as Emoni almost ran up the stairs. She said something quickly about going to the bathroom before she disappeared down the hall. I winced looking at Felix. "I'm going to check on her."
Felix nodded, "I think that would be a good idea. I'll call Matt for directions."
I nodded and went after Emoni. I found her seated on the lounger seat in the bathroom with her head down and her ears covered. She was humming something through her shuddering breaths. I didn't recognize the melody, but I sat with her and placed a hand on her back, rubbing gently.
"Take as long as you need."
Grace let out a wet laugh, "I feel ridiculous. I-I should be better than this."
"You've been through a lot in the past few hours, let alone the past few days."
"B-Between Greyson... then seeing B-Ben... Oh, moon, I feel sick."
I swallowed not wanting to think about seeing Ben either. He didn't seem to recognize me, but Alyssa had been petrified with him so near.
"I'm... not doing the best either... But he's not what set this off."
"No," she said solemnly and wiped her face. "And I-I don't think I can talk about it. It's fuzzy. As soon as I try to take a closer look it fades away like my mind doesn't want me to remember it."
There were so many holes in my memories. I feared one day they would all fill in with all the horrible things that have happened to me at the slightest thing: the smell of a cologne, the scent of blood, or even just rain on the right day.
Matt's scent was the only thing that seemed to be able to calm me, but he wasn't around.
"Let's talk about something else," I said. "H-How do you know Greyson is your mate?"
I had a passing understanding of how mates identified one another, but nothing concrete. All of that was also tangled up in the scent of blood, roses, and the sight of my parents' bodies swinging in the wind.
"He smells good," Emoni said. "Not that Matt or his Felix stink, exactly. He just smells... like whisky and cedar. He smells a bit like home and it's comforting. Demi is all over the moon about him." "Demi?"
She flinched and looked away, "My wolf's name is Demi."
It was kind of personal to share that with someone. A mark of actually becoming pack. Alyssa seemed happy that Emoni felt comfortable enough to tell us that.
"Demi is a great name. My wolf's name is Alyssa."
Emoni looked at me and smiled, "That's a nice name too."
Alyssa preened and I smiled, "You know... pretty soon we'll have a mind-link."
Her eyes widened, "You... would share that with me?"
I nodded, "I think we're already well on our way to becoming pack."
She nodded and grinned, "I'd like that a lot, luna."
