Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 128
Chapter 128:.
On our way back to the villa overlooking the sea, I didn’t say a word.
But I was the only one who knew how uneasy I was.
Indeed, I was a person cursed with bad luck. Because of me, Shane was blackmailing Derek for fifty million dollars in three days.
I wondered how I could turn the tables in my favor.
“What’s wrong?” Derek suddenly touched my face.
Because I was immersed in my thoughts, I was startled, but soon shook my head in response.
“I just don’t feel well.”
“Do you want to go to the hospital?” he asked.
“No, it’s not necessary. I’m just a little worn out, that’s all.”
“I see. Then we should get back as soon as possible, so you can rest,” Derek replied.
“Understood,” I replied.
After returning to the villa overlooking the sea, I went to bed early.
Soon, I closed my eyes. Derek must have thought I was asleep, so he made sure to make as little noise as possible when he laid down with me.
But in reality, I was so anxious that I couldn’t fall asleep.
I’d rather not think about my situation, but I needed to replace a way out of this dead end.
Shane had given me a three-day ultimatum. The first day had passed and I had less and less time left to replace a solution.
Halfway through the second day, I felt a sense of urgency that made me feel suffocated.
I pondered whether I should tell Derek or not, and whether I should accept Shane’s proposal to sleep with him at the cost of making up ten thousand dollars of the total price each time. All kinds of terrible ideas flooded my brain, and I wanted to kill the bastard. I felt like I was going crazy.
In the afternoon, it started to rain. We didn’t leave the house today and just watched TV.
Derek must have noticed that I hadn’t talked much these past two days, so he suddenly sat down next to me, hugged me and pressed his forehead against mine.

“Are you feeling sick? You really don’t want to see a doctor?”
I looked back at him, and seeing how worried he was about me, I felt guilty.
I was wrong. I shouldn’t have tried to resolve this issue on my own without telling him. I wasn’t even smart enough to think of a solution to this.
So I decided to tell him the truth. At the very least, I had to mentally prepare him to see those pictures. I was afraid he might not be able to accept me anymore if Shane posted those pictures of me on the Internet.
I licked my dry lips, ready to speak. But suddenly, his phone rang.
The interruption ruined my perfect moment to confess.
After answering the call, Derek went out and didn’t return even though it was getting dark. It wasn’t a holiday and there weren’t many people staying on the coast, so all was quiet in the villa overlooking the sea.
It was so quiet it made me nervous.
I called Derek many times, but he didn’t answer, so I felt very uneasy. At nine o’clock at night, I heard the sound of a car. Hope flared in my heart as I ran out of the house.
But when I saw the car, I was disappointed.
The car was not Derek’s, and the person who got out of the car was Aaron.
He came up to me and said, “Derek told me you were scared to be alone here, so he asked me to take you home.”
“Where is he?” I asked.
“He’s probably dealing with something at his company. Don’t worry about him,” she said, trying to comfort me.
The truth is, I wasn’t afraid to be alone here, but I was forced to overthink. Just looking through the glass window, gazing at the stark darkness outside and listening to the tides could make me feel unhinged.
So I decided to accompany Aaron to Derek’s villa. There he prepared food for me. I couldn’t bear to disappoint him, so I forced myself to eat.
Afterwards, he told me to go to bed early. I still wasn’t sleepy, so I sat in the living room and turned on the TV. However, I wasn’t actually watching TV.
Meanwhile, Aaron was sitting on the side. “You should get some rest. You still have to go to work tomorrow, don’t you?” I said.
With a slight smile, he said, “That’s okay. I’m used to staying up late.”
It was already eleven o’clock at night and Derek still hadn’t come home. Besides, I couldn’t get through to him, so I was getting more and more restless.
When it was already midnight, I finally heard the sound of a car.
I put on my slippers and hurried to open the door.
After I parked the car, Derek got out of it.
“Why are you still up, are you unable to fall asleep without your husband?” he joked as if nothing had happened.
But when he walked into the living room, I noticed his shirt was dirty and his hand was grazed.
“What the hell happened to you?” I asked, visibly surprised.
He looked at me, letting out a sigh. “If I tell you, don’t laugh, okay?”. After a pause, she said, “I fell by accident.”
She didn’t reek of alcohol, so her response sounded a bit exaggerated.
“Are your injuries serious, are you hurt anywhere else?”
Derek took off his coat, sat down on the couch and hugged me.
“Yes, my wounds really hurt, so I’m going to need you to comfort me later,” he whispered as he leaned closer to my ear.
“It’s getting late. You should get some sleep,” Aaron suddenly said, got up and went upstairs.
Just like that, we followed him upstairs.
After showering, Derek came out of the bathroom completely naked. I forgot my shyness and carefully examined his body.
Fortunately, there were no other wounds on his body.
As he pressed me down on the bed, staring at my lips, his eyes bugged out and he slowly lowered his head.
However, I wasn’t in the mood for sex, so I turned my head away.
“Where did you go today, and what the hell happened to you?” I asked.
Derek got off of me and looked at me for a moment before lying down next to me.
“Don’t you trust me?”
He didn’t seem to want to tell me the truth, so I decided not to probe any further.
My questions seemed to have ruined his arousal, so we didn’t end up having sex. He soon hugged me and we fell asleep. The next day, however, another scandal spread throughout the City.
