Chapter 155:

Derek suddenly picked me up in his arms, spun around and around in the artificial rain. Because of how fast he was spinning, I felt like I was flying.

His face was soaked, but he was still smiling.

At that moment, I truly believed that, if I was splashed with water, I would be happy for the rest of my life.

When she finally got me down, I saw Felix and Louise splashing each other with water.

Unwilling to admit defeat, she took advantage of his inattention and dumped a basin of water on his head.

Felix wiped the water on his face. I thought he would get sullen, but he just gave Louise a look and laughed.

“Come on! Stick me with a few more bowls of water. I’ll be happy for the rest of my life if I get wet. I know you want me to be happy.”

Louise was already wet all over. She gave him a look and laughed.

Her smile brimmed with feminine charm. In the last few years he had known her, he had never seen her smile like that.

He grabbed some water and used it to splash Felix. Not to be outdone, he grabbed a basin and splashed her with water as well.

“How can I be happy alone? We should get wet together!” he exclaimed.

As I watched them, lost in thought, Derek planted a kiss on my cheek.

Startled, I turned away. That’s when he whispered in my ear, “Let’s get wet together.”

Hearing his double entendre, I blushed.

Soon after, Eric was besieged by several local women and splashed all over the place. Once the splashing game was over, Louise and I changed into our local clothes. When I came out of the locker room, Derek looked me up and down with a fond smile.

“You’re amazing.”

Tonight there would be a bonfire party.

It was a happy and exciting night.

However, it was also a dangerous night.

The bonfire party was held by the river.

We attended the party after dinner.

The bonfire was already set up. There were many people gathered there, including young men and women dressed in local clothes, and most of the others were tourists from other cities.

The songs being played were light and pleasant to listen to, and made people’s emotions vibrate.

As soon as we approached, several local women invited us to join them.

Everyone gathered around the bonfire in a big circle, singing and dancing.

We didn’t know how to sing the song or how to do their dance, so we awkwardly imitated their movements. It was a lot of fun.

After a while, we managed to follow their movements.

We danced slowly in a big circle around the campfire. Our smiling faces looked so warm in the firelight.

Moments later, many local women came out with wine and sang a toast song for the guests.

This method of toasting was hard to resist, and none of us could refuse, so we all ended up drinking some wine.

Afterwards, the local women took to dancing in the center. It was fascinating to watch.

I paid attention to Derek’s reactions. He seemed to be a little embarrassed at the enthusiasm of the local women, which was a rare thing to see.

Suddenly, I saw one of the women whisper something in his ear. They talked for a while and, during their conversation, Derek gave me a few looks.

This surprised me a bit. There were a lot of other male guests around, so why did this woman choose to talk only to Derek?

But in his defense, Derek was irresistible to women. He had no doubt that there were others who were attracted to him.

Once the local woman walked away from him, he walked toward me. Then, in a lighthearted tone, I asked him, “What did that beautiful, sexy girl just now say to you?”

Derek lowered his head and whispered in my ear, “She was asking me out.”

After a moment of surprise, I said in a nonchalant voice, “Oh, lucky you. He picked you out of so many men.”

Derek put his arm around my shoulder. “But I refused. I told him that my wife is here, and that I would get a beating if I didn’t behave myself. I also showed him the scar I have on my face and told him I got it from my wife.”

I burst out laughing.

“You described me as if I were some kind of harpy!”

He cocked his head to the side, smiling at me.

“Well, I do think you have the potential to be a harpy.”

“Shit!” I made as if to give him a couple of light punches.

Derek laughed. He didn’t dodge or fight back, pretending he was at my mercy.

After that, we continued dancing with everyone else.

I rarely did sports or exercise, so I was tired after a few minutes of dancing. So, I had to retire and sit on a bench to rest a bit.

The others were still dancing. Louise was very animated and full of life.

After I had sat down for a while, my phone rang. Aaron was calling me.

“Have you had dinner yet?” he asked.

I could imagine his gentle smile as he spoke to me on the phone.

“Yes! We’re out having fun right now, how about you?”

“I’ve already eaten. But it’s hard to eat much when you’re alone, you know? I didn’t want to cook at home, so I had dinner out.

Did you remember to wear sunscreen? How’s your tan?” he joked.

I smiled and said, “Yeah, it’s pretty handy. Thanks.”

“It sounds very lively over there.”

“They’re having an interesting bonfire party.”

After a moment of silence, Aaron said, “Well, it’s good to know you’re having fun. You know I’m all alone inside the house now and I feel empty.”

I looked at the local women dancing and laughed, “It’s a shame you didn’t come. The girls here are so beautiful.”

Aaron laughed into the phone. “Try not to stay too late at night. It’s not safe there because it’s on the border.”

After that, we continued chatting for a while before hanging up.
