Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 163
Chapter 163:
That night, I went with Louise to her house.
In the past, we often chatted while in the same bed. But now, such an occurrence was quite rare. I realized that Janie’s appearance today had had some impact on Louise.
“Lulu, have you really fallen in love with Felix?” I asked her as soon as I lay down on the bed. After a moment of silence, she replied, “I’m not sure if I love him or not. I just think he’s okay, and we can try dating to replace out our compatibility. If we are good together, then we will continue the relationship. But if not, we will separate. I’m not going to be the kind of woman who loves a man wholeheartedly and commits suicide over a simple disagreement. In this society, no one is irreplaceable.” I was aware that Louise would never give her heart to someone so easily.
Even if she had feelings for Felix, she would rather pretend to be indifferent to him than get hurt. In this respect, I was not as free and carefree as she was.
When I started to fall in love with someone, I loved them with all my heart.
“I think Felix is very serious about you. Based on his attitude with Janie tonight, he’s probably moved on from her completely. Look, everyone has a past. You don’t have to let it bother you.”
“I don’t have a past,” Louise said confidently.
It was true. She had never fallen in love, nor had she ever met a man capable of making her fall in love. Felix didn’t particularly stand out, but I, as an onlooker, thought they were a perfect match.
Maybe it was fate that made her fall in love with him.
But then, someone else came to mind. “What about Layne? He’s interested in you, and it looks like he’s serious. Has he given up on you already? I don’t think he’s a person to be trifled with,” I said.
There was silence between us for a while before Louise said in a quiet tone, “Actually, he’s not that bad. He’s just not my type.”
Judging by Layne’s attitude towards Louise that day, he seemed to really like her. If he were a normal person, he might have a fair competition with Felix for Louise’s hand. But my instinct always told me that Layne was not a simple man.
We chatted for a long time. It was already midnight, but neither of us could fall asleep.
Just then, my phone rang. I picked it up and saw a text from Derek. “Honey, are you sleeping? I miss you. I can’t fall asleep without you by my side.” I laughed as I imagined him tossing and turning in bed, alone.

Hearing my laughter, Louise rolled over, looked at my phone and snorted.
“He seems very attached to you. He can’t fall asleep without hugging you, huh?”.
I typed “me too,” but after contemplating for a moment, I deleted them. After a few seconds of reflection, I decided to respond, “You should go to sleep. You have to work tomorrow, remember?”.
He quickly replied, “Honey, you should go to sleep soon too. Sweet dreams, my love. I hope to show myself in your dream.”
Humans always seemed like strange creatures to me. When we were together, we felt nothing special. But when we were apart, we missed each other very much. And when we sent each other messages, we were under the illusion that we were next to each other, passionately in love.
The next day, early in the morning, I went back to the villa.
Derek was already gone, while Aaron was still there. I was scheduled to practice driving this morning. Aaron told me he would drive me there.
On the way. I got a message from an unknown number, so I asked him to change our route and take me to Café Iceland. Entering the cafe, I took a look around and soon saw a familiar face sitting by the window.
Belinda’s skin was well-groomed. Although she was in her forties, she still gave the impression of being young and charming. This was probably the reason Gifford became obsessed with her, ruined her past marriage and even brought her back home after many years.
Charlene looked very much like her. She had inherited her mother’s beauty, but she looked a little different.
Charlene’s beauty was natural and gentle, but Belinda’s was a little more daunting. As I approached, I saw her with a cup of coffee in her hand.
When she saw me, she stared at me, took a sip and put the cup down. As I sat down across from her, a waiter approached and I ordered a cup of coffee with milk.
I wasn’t sure how I should address her. Although I already had an idea of what she wanted to tell me, I knew it wouldn’t be appropriate to pout at her before she made it clear. So, I smiled politely at her and said, “Hello.”
However, she seemed to despise the idea of going off on me.
“I know you went to the hospital a few days ago and I also know your test result. If you don’t want Derek to live a childless life, you should leave as soon as possible.”
Stunned, I fell silent and suddenly felt a shiver run down my back and through my body. I realized that they had been watching me all this time. How terrible they were!
