Chapter 184:

The singer, Cindy, was performing on stage. When I went to the restroom, I stopped to talk to a waiter After returning to my seat, Cindy started singing Sybil’s song.

The atmosphere in our booth became tense for a moment. Meanwhile, I grabbed a piece of fruit as if nothing was wrong. Before the song ended, Derek stood up. My heart skipped a beat as I grabbed his arm.

“What’s wrong?” he lowered his head and laughed at me, “I’m going to the bathroom to pee. If you want to come with me, I don’t mind.”

Blushing, I let go of his arm. Once Derek left, I noticed that Aaron had been sitting quietly this whole time, so I sat down next to him.

“Aaron, do you know where Sybil’s buried?” I asked him matter-of-factly.

He swirled his glass and replied, “It seems her body was taken to her hometown for burial.”

Actually, none of them had seen her being buried with their own eyes. “Is it possible she’s still alive?” I asked.

Aaron was taken aback at my comment, but immediately smiled.

“That’s impossible,” he replied confidently. “When she committed suicide, her family was caught off guard. Before they came from her hometown to take her away, her corpse lay in a funeral home for a week. How could she still be alive?” Given that logic, if she was still alive, she had to be a vampire or something. And if she wasn’t alive, the message I got was even stranger.

When Cindy finished the song, Derek came back. Thus, I ended my conversation with Aaron. Soon after, Cindy approached us and raised her glass to propose a toast.

After drinking a glass of beer, she said, “Felix, I’ve signed up for a contest called “Singing Youth.” When the contest starts, I may not be able to work here as often.” Felix waved his hand dismissively.

“Ah, don’t worry about that. Your dream is more important. If you become popular, don’t forget about Blue Sky, okay? And remember to come sing here from time to time to increase the popularity of the bar.” Everyone was in high spirits.

We clinked our glasses and chatted happily. Under my supervision, Derek drank only water or juice instead of alcohol the whole time. After we had been drinking for a while, I noticed Aaron wasn’t in the booth. I looked up and saw him on stage.

He was sitting behind the drum kit, reaching out to play it. Aaron once told me that he had been the drummer for Thorn Birds, so he probably had a weakness for drums.

It had been years since he’d played drums. And now, he was sitting in front of a drum kit. He must have been overwhelmed with emotions. Aaron picked up the drumsticks and started playing the drums. After picking up the beat, he slowly got deeper and deeper into the rhythm.

I remembered that I once said that his vibe was not suitable for drummers. I even told him that drummers should be wild. At the time, he just smiled at me and told me that he had a wild side too and that I hadn’t seen it. And now, I believed him.

As I watched him create his magical rhythms on the drums, it didn’t seem strange to me. He was born to be a drummer. The intense beat caused a commotion to erupt throughout the bar. Some of the guests even gave him a standing ovation and started clapping along to the beat of the drums.

After the last beat, the whole bar erupted in applause and cheers. When Aaron returned to our booth, Felix told him, “Well done, Aaron! Your skills have not diminished.”

Aaron patted him on the shoulder and joked, “Don’t forget to pay for my gig, buddy. Since we’re friends, I’ll give you a discount.” Everyone laughed at his comment.

That’s when Louise interjected. “Your friends are all so amazing – why are you the only useless one of them?” Hearing this, Felix was immediately annoyed.

“What are you talking about? You’ve obviously never seen my talents.”

Louise scoffed at him. “Talents, you say? You mean your talent for flirting with women?” she knew she was goading him into action, and she got it.

Felix immediately stood up. “Well, today I’ll show you how good I am. I’ll sing you a song. And when I’m done, give me a kiss, okay?”

Louise raised an eyebrow at him. “We’ll talk about that when you work up the courage to go on stage.”

After downing an entire glass of beer, Felix rolled up his sleeves and headed for the stage. He picked up the microphone and cleared his throat slightly. I could tell he was slightly embarrassed.

“Hello everyone, I’m here to sing a song for my beloved wife. I’m not that good, so I apologize in advance if you think I suck.” The regulars at the bar knew he was the boss here, so upon hearing his announcement, they clapped and cheered for him.

“Come on, boss! Sing us a song.”

Soon, a familiar song echoed through the bar and Felix began to sing.

“Once upon a time there was a girl named Louise. She had the most beautiful pair of eyes, and she had secretly stolen my heart.” I was amazed at how good her voice was. I looked at Louise and saw that she was equally surprised; maybe even more than I was.

Felix locked his eyes on her the whole time she sang, and everyone in the bar followed her gaze. Although Louise was not usually shy, she felt uncomfortable being watched by everyone.

Since we were all listening to Felix’s performance, no one noticed a woman approaching our spot.

Before we knew it, she grabbed Louise by the hair and slapped her across the face.
