Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 229
Chapter 229:
About twenty minutes later, Derek stopped the car. As soon as I got out of the car, I saw a flashy, colorful sign that read [Villa Flash].
Villa Flash was a famous resort for wealthy people, which was developed in Sousen a few years ago. Although I had never been here, I had heard of it.
When the guards saw us from a distance, they opened the gates and greeted Derek: “Mr. Derek Sullivan!” they greeted.
Derek nodded back at them and continued walking inside. I was curious about something. I wondered if Villa Flash was also a Dere International property.
We were able to enter the compound without anything or anyone stopping us. At the moment, I wasn’t in the mood to appreciate how beautiful Villa Flash was during the night. I just wanted to replace Becky as soon as possible. After walking up some stone steps and through a hallway, I saw a man appear at the other end of the hallway.
“Sir,” he greeted.
“Where is she?”
Although Derek seemed calm in appearance, it wasn’t hard to guess from his voice that he was agitated.
“This way, sir.” As he led the way, the man continued, “I’ve compared her to the description in the ad you posted, and I think that girl must be the one you’re looking for.” Judging by the man’s words, Becky should be fine.
I secretly let out a breath of relief. Next to the long stretch of hallway was a row of wooden rooms. I could hear faint sounds of card games. In some of the rooms there were also people playing chess.
After climbing another set of stone steps and passing through an arched doorway, the man led us to a room inside the courtyard. His eyes immediately snapped open.
“Where…. where is she?” he exclaimed.
“She was here a moment ago! I brought her food-why has she disappeared now?”
He was so anxious that his neck turned red. It was as if he feared Derek wouldn’t believe him.
The room was filled with classic wooden furniture. Indeed, there were a few dishes on the round table, and none of them appeared to have been touched. The man pointed to the wine rack off to the side. “Two bottles of wine are missing!”

Derek furrowed his eyebrows and stared at the dishes on the table.
“Look for it,” he ordered.
Since the man was sure he had seen Becky, Derek figured she must still be in the place.
Soon, a large number of villa employees had gathered and began searching for Becky.
I was unfamiliar with Flash Village, so all I could do was follow Derek and wander around looking for Becky aimlessly.
After a while, one of the men shouted, “Mr. Sullivan, she’s over there!”. We all glanced in the direction he pointed.
The night was dark, but there were many lantern-shaped street lamps hanging in the town. Under one of the lanterns, I could see a large glass plank road leading to the top of the village.
At the end of the road, there appeared to be a person sitting on a rock. It was hard to see the person’s face clearly from where we were, but it was most likely Becky.
Derek walked across the stone steps and we all followed him. The stone staircase was very steep and, truth be told, I was afraid of heights. By the time we were halfway up the stairs, I felt my legs go weak.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m right behind you.” The sound of Aaron’s voice was quite reassuring.
I took a deep breath before pulling myself up to the top with a jerk. It was then that I saw Becky sitting on top of a large rock. If I wasn’t careful enough, she might fall. It was a terrifying sight.
“Becky,” Derek called.
Startled, Becky turned around and yelled, “Stay away!”
Hearing her warning, none of us dared to act rashly. There were two bottles of wine near Becky, and the wind was blowing next to her. Soon, the smell of alcohol permeated the air.
“Becky, be careful! You might fall,” Felix shouted.
