Chapter 236:.

As soon as I entered the villa, I saw Becky sitting on the couch, cross-legged.

Her hair was disheveled and she wasn’t moving.

However, as soon as she saw me, her eyes widened.

It was as if a hedgehog had gone into alert mode and reflexively dug its quills in at the sight of its enemy.

I didn’t bother to give him a look.

“I didn’t sleep last night. I’m tired. I’m going to bed.” I neither had to practice driving nor did I have to ask permission.

I went back to my room and collapsed on the bed.

Moments later, I heard the sound of the door opening and footsteps approaching.

I opened my eyes and saw Derek sitting on the edge of the bed.

He picked up the ointment Aaron had given him and unscrewed the cap.

I understood that he had come to apply the ointment to my bruise.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s no big deal. I’m not that fragile.” I was about to move away from him, but he pressed my shoulders, stopping me in place.

“Don’t move.” The hoarseness in his voice made me feel sick.

I obeyed him and held still.

He gently applied the ointment to me with slow, gentle movements as I stared at him.

His beautiful face would make women go weak in the knees.

Any woman would fall in love with him at first sight.

But I am not one to be swayed by appearances or judge people by their looks.

I was not attracted to his handsome face, but the warmth and affection he gave me when I was at my worst made me fall head over heels in love with him.

He knew my place well and didn’t expect too much because he knew what I deserved.

Even a little kindness and care from him would make me happy.

However, I realized that I had become possessive.

I wanted him to love and care only for me.

What was wrong with me, had I become too greedy? Why was I affected by his every move?

“Does it hurt?” He lifted his head and stared into my eyes.

“It doesn’t hurt here. It hurts here.” I put my palm to my heart and gave him a sad look.

“Is there any medicine that can cure it?” Derek put down the ointment and tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

He leaned forward, cupped my cheeks and kissed me gently.

His soft lips and tender kisses were addictive.

My head was spinning with desire and my body was screaming for more.

However, I didn’t want to answer him.

I controlled my desire and didn’t move.

He licked my lips, trying to deepen the kiss.

However, as I refused to respond, he pulled away and gave me a helpless look.

“Rest well.” He got up and left.

I stared at the door as a pang of regret settled in my heart.

Only the heavens knew how much I loved his warmth and embrace.

But Aaron taught me how to get along with a spouse.

Even after being married twice, my understanding of love and intimacy was limited; Aaron, a single man, seemed to have more experience than I did.

I thought he was right.

Since I had stayed up all night, I fell asleep early.

I slept until nightfall.

However, when I woke up something unexpected happened.

Feo disappeared.

I looked all over the house for him, but I couldn’t locate the cat anywhere.

Feo was a shy cat.

He had never misbehaved or disappeared since I bought him.

Becky sat on the couch and watched me running back and forth anxiously.

I had a vague suspicion in my heart, so I suppressed my anger and looked at her.

“Becky, have you seen Ugly?” Becky’s smug face disappeared as soon as Derek opened the door.

“I haven’t seen Feo either. Eveline, I haven’t seen him. I swear.” She gave me a look, feigning fear.

His manner infuriated me, so I turned and stormed out.

Derek probably understood what was going on, so he stopped me.

“I’ll come with you.” He drove the car while I kept turning around to look for Ugly on the road.

I felt both annoyed and upset.

We had been doing nothing but looking for someone or something for the past few days.

We had been looking for Becky for the last two days, and now we were looking for my cat.

However, the cat was not like a human. It couldn’t call for help or look for me.

Ugly was a small cat. It was hard to look for him in the dark.
