Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 239
Chapter 239:
Louise and I got out of the car and walked into the restaurant. As soon as we entered the dining room, I noticed Becky walking up the spiral staircase, so I followed her upstairs along with Louise.
The second floor consisted mostly of VIP rooms, which were luxuriously appointed and very quiet. They were so different from the noisy dining room on the second floor.
“Miss Nash, this way, please.”
The waiter guiding Becky stopped at the door to one of the private rooms and gestured for her to enter. Once she entered the room, the door immediately closed. Louise folded her arms.
“It’s a VIP room. We won’t be able to replace out what they’re talking about. If I had known they would have such a plan, I would have borrowed two waitress uniforms and disguised myself as them so I could get in.”
I smiled at her and said, “Don’t worry about that. We’ll be able to get in, but not now.”
I glanced sideways and noticed someone coming up the stairs and approaching in our direction. Quickly, I pulled Louise around the corner, so we could hide.
Out of curiosity, she raised her head to watch him. When she saw the man enter a private room, she asked, “Who’s that guy?”
“Derek’s father,” I said.
“But they didn’t go into the same room,” she replied.
I still didn’t explain the whole thing to her, but I mentioned something else.
“If I told you that Derek’s father was using Becky as a pawn to sabotage my relationship with Derek, would you believe it?”
Louise’s eyes widened with surprise. “In that case, her dad’s a jerk too, isn’t he, what happened between you and him, and why does he dislike you so much?”
I shrugged. “I want to know, too.”
“So, what’s going to happen today?”
Louise was a smart woman. I could tell by the look on her face that she must already have a guess.

“I had a fight with Derek yesterday, how much are you willing to bet that Becky will meet with Derek’s father today to report the situation and ask for a reward?” I said.
Surprised by what happened, Louise shouted, “What the hell did you fight with Derek for? You knew it was a trap, and you still walked into it? Are you stupid?”
I still didn’t explain my side. Still seemingly confused, Louise asked, “They didn’t go into the same room. How is Becky supposed to report to him? Are they trying to make sure no one sees them?”
Once again, she narrowed her eyes to look at me. “You seem to know everything already. Tell me, what happened?”
I looked toward the closed door of the private room and said, “Hey, relax! Wait, will you?”
About ten minutes later, the door to the private room Becky was in opened. Then a strange man came out. When the man left, the door closed again.
A moment later, I saw a waiter walking into the private room with a bottle of wine on a tray in his hand. I walked over and said to the waiter, “I’m going in. Let me get it.”
Grateful for my kind offer, the waiter handed me the tray, thanked me politely and left. I immediately opened the door and carried the tray inside. There were only two people inside the room: Derek and Becky.
He raised his head and gave me a look. He didn’t seem surprised to see me here, and I wasn’t either.
“Derek, I’m leaving now.” Becky seemed quite nervous, and didn’t seem to notice my presence at the time. I had put the tray on the table, but she still didn’t lift her head. She must have thought I was just another waitress.
After pouring her a glass of wine, I put it in front of her.
“Why are you leaving so soon, what’s the rush?”
Becky suddenly gave me a look of disbelief. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh! Another Mr. Sullivan is here, I see!” It seemed that Louise finally understood the situation.
So, she pulled out a chair, sat down and prepared to enjoy the show. Becky glanced at Derek and then at me. She seemed to have understood something.
Feeling guilty, she looked away from us. Instead of pouring Derek some wine, I gave him a glass of water. Then I sat down next to him.
On the burgundy tablecloth was a stack of documents. Derek tapped the documents with his fingers and smiled.
“Becky, I thought I’d surprise you. What a coincidence.” Of course, he knew it wasn’t a coincidence.
When Becky walked into the restaurant, she had no idea that the Mr. Sullivan who had made an appointment with her was not Gifford, but Derek.
