Chapter 241:.

Derek stubbed out the cigarette in his hand.

Then he pulled a card out of his jacket pocket and placed it in front of Becky.

“The code is written on the back of the card.

Return the money to my father.

You just concentrate on getting ready for the part in the movie.

I’ll take care of replaceing you a personal acting teacher,” she said casually.

At that point, I turned to give Becky a look and said, “That may not be necessary.

After all, you’re pretty good at acting, aren’t you?”.

Everyone could tell the irony of my words.

Becky pursed her lips and glanced at the card in front of her.

She didn’t seem very convinced of Derek’s plan.

An awkward silence began to settle, but was quickly interrupted by the shrill sound of Becky’s phone ringing.

She picked it up and, after glancing at it, hastily hung it up.

For some reason, she seemed to be nervous about the call….

Seeing her face, I quickly guessed that the call must be from Gifford.

Since he didn’t see her at the appointed time, he was probably calling to inquire about the situation.

Derek looked at the phone and said quietly, “Becky, this is your last chance. If you don’t do what I say this time, I won’t care about you anymore” It was clear that Becky mattered a lot to him and he felt responsible for her.

Becky lowered her face and stayed in that position for a long moment without saying anything.

Then, finally, she mumbled a few words.

“Derek, I made a mistake. I’m sorry.” When she said that, Derek’s face suddenly relaxed.

He held my hand tightly.

“I’m going to walk Eveline to her driving lessons,” he said before getting up to leave.

I got up and followed him immediately.

Louise glared at Becky before getting up in turn and leaving.

As we reached the door, Derek stopped suddenly and turned to give Becky a look.

“Look, no matter what others have promised you, I’d like you to trust me in the future. I’ll make sure you realize your dreams.” After saying that, Derek turned again and this time walked out without turning around.

As I walked beside him, I couldn’t help but turn to look at him.

His handsome face with strong, pronounced features gave him an irresistible charm.

I felt my heart beat faster at that moment.

I knew then that I could never leave him.

When we left the restaurant, Louise told us she had something to do and left right away.

As for me, I silently followed Derek to his car.

Derek inserted the car’s ignition key and started the engine before suddenly asking me, “Aren’t you already late for your driving lessons?”

“No, we still have some time before they start,” I replied.

He was silent for a while, before suddenly reaching out to gently grab me by the back of the neck.

The next moment, I felt a soft kiss on my forehead.

When his loving gaze met mine, my face flushed almost immediately.

Next, he gave me a sweet smile.

I felt so embarrassed that I quickly looked away.

“You should focus on the road,” I said, pointing ahead.

It wasn’t until then that he released me and turned his attention back to driving.

The smile on his face didn’t disappear, however.

Right now it was very different than it was yesterday when we were arguing.

The Derek before me at that moment was full of tenderness and gentleness.

I felt good next to him.

“Even though we only pretended to have a heated argument yesterday, you were so serious when you were yelling at me…” Derek said suddenly.

When I glanced at him, I found that he was smiling.

He still remembered the text he sent me after he left me the night before.

[Nice performance]. And I replied, [Same to you]. That was life.

A play in which we were all actors.

I looked at Derek and said, “Actually, we both put our true feelings into that fight yesterday, didn’t we? Every word came from the bottom of our hearts.” The expression on Derek’s face changed a little.

He looked at me and asked, “Did you?”. I nodded my head as I understood his question.

I answered truthfully, “Yes, I’m jealous to see how much you care about Becky.”

“Then that means you’ve fallen in love with me,” Derek said with a smile.

“And you?” The moment those words left my lips, I regretted saying them.

Actually, I was worried that question would be embarrassing for both of us.

But what I feared most was that he would give me a negative answer.

So I quickly added, “Are you really tired of being with me now?” I asked him.

“Well, life itself is very tiring.

A man’s responsibility is to make sure his wife doesn’t feel all this pressure of life.” Derek’s response was smart as always.

He didn’t want to give a direct answer to my question.

“Tell me, are you feeling tired?” he asked me in turn.

At that moment, I looked out the window, gazing out into the streets.

I was silent for a while, thinking of a suitable answer for him.

Then, finally, I said, “Life itself is a very tiring thing.

But if you have someone willing to stay by your side, life becomes easier to live.”

Derek gave me a look of pleasant surprise.

He definitely didn’t expect me to use his words to respond to him.

The big difference between men and women was in the way they reasoned.

Men were rational, while women were more emotional.

Derek directed a gentle smile at me and took my hand tightly.

“I’m willing to stand by your side.”

There was a quiet strength emanating from him that was transmitted to me by his presence alone.
