Chapter 246:.

The long kiss finally came to an end. Because so many people were watching, contrary to Louise’s usually carefree and tactless behavior, she was embarrassed. She decided to bury her face in Felix’s chest and refused to lift her head.

Seeing that there was nothing else to see, the crowd began to disperse. When Felix and Louise approached our side, we asked them to drink with us to celebrate.

However, he seemed concerned about Louise’s hand, so he asked, “Would you like me to sell it to you?”

Slowly, Louise sat up and replied, “It’s no big deal.”

After drinking for a while, I noticed that Charlene had been sitting quietly. For some reason, she seemed to be in a bad mood. I wasn’t sure if she was still worried about her job.

So I sat closer to her and asked, “Hey, how are you doing? You don’t seem to be in the mood for fun.”

Charlene smiled at me, “It’s nothing. I’m fine.”

Then, she told us she had to go to the restroom, so she got up and walked away. However, she didn’t come back for a long time. I got a little worried about her, so I went looking for her.

As soon as I came around a corner, I heard Charlene’s voice, so I stopped.

“How could I forget you? I wouldn’t even think of it. Anyway, do you want to have dinner together? Great. But I can’t let you pay for it. This time it’s on me. I’ve been really busy with work the last couple of days. When I have time, I’ll arrange it. Please come, OK, Mr. Jackson?”

Charlene was holding the phone, leaning against the wall lazily.

She was talking on the phone with a bright smile on her face, completely different from how she was a few minutes ago.

I decided to go back to the booth. After a while, Charlene returned.

She had water stains on her face and her sleeves appeared to be wet. I pretended not to know and handed her the fruit plate.

She smiled and thanked me, but didn’t try any bites. Instead, she clapped her hands twice and said, “That proposal was really wonderful.”

Eric pointed to Felix and smiled, “That guy was so mysterious, he didn’t even tell us anything. Honestly, I never imagined he could be so romantic.” Felix’s proposal was a success, and he seemed proud of his victory.

“Of course!” he exclaimed.

“Actually, I wanted to announce something, too.” Charlene’s earnest words calmed everyone down.

Slowly, she shifted her gaze to Aaron, who had been sitting quietly off to the side.

She already had a vague idea of what he was going to say.

“I like you, Aaron!”

Just as he expected, Charlene was a straightforward person. She expressed her love bluntly.

Suddenly, everyone in the booth was in an uproar. After taking a deep breath, Charlene cracked a smile. She seemed to feel relieved now that she had said those words.

“Even if I like you, that doesn’t mean you have to reciprocate. That proposal earlier inspired me and made me want to declare my feelings out loud too,” in all sincerity, I admired her courage and frankness.

“Be together, be together,” Felix and Eric chanted in unison as they began to tap the table rhythmically. Their actions attracted the attention of the others.

After a long silence, Aaron finally raised his head and laughed, “Charlene, you shouldn’t make those jokes.”

Charlene showed a serious expression and replied, “I’m not joking.”

Aaron bit his lower lip, seemingly at a loss for words. Then, a wry smile appeared on his lips. “I don’t deserve your love. In fact, I’ve been encouraged to express my feelings too.”

As soon as he finished his words, he looked up at me and our eyes met. It was only for a few seconds, but it made my heart beat faster.

Suddenly, Derek grabbed my hand. I turned my head towards him as he pressed my hand to his lips and kissed it gently.

I was always startled by his sudden intimate gesture, because my desire was easily triggered by it. A loud knock brought me back to reality.

Aaron had left his empty glass on the table. I remembered that his glass was full earlier, and it looked like he had drunk it all while I was distracted.

“I’ve been in love with someone for many years, but I missed my chance. Now, all I can do is regret it,” she said seeing that Aaron had turned her down so politely, Charlene smiled. “I merely expressed my feelings for you. I told you that you didn’t have to reciprocate. It bothered me for a long time, but now that I’ve said it out loud, I feel much better. Aaron, don’t feel pressured. I just wanted to say it. I’m not asking you to reciprocate.” Although Charlene tried to look nonchalant about it, I noticed her hands shaking as she clutched her glass.

Seeing the atmosphere becoming uncomfortable, Felix shouted, “Cheers everyone! I’m buying today. Let’s have some fun.”

In the end, we all drank too much and had to leave with designated drivers.
