“We’re done, Felix.”

With that said, Louise turned around and stormed out.

I wanted to follow her, but Derek stopped me.

“Give her some time to breathe. It’s no use talking to her now.”

Felix grabbed the ring and tried to reach for her. But before he could steady himself, he fell off the edge of the bed.

He was so angry that he slammed his fist on the bed.

“Eveline, I need your help. Please talk to Lulu for me. I really don’t know anything about what happened. You have to believe me. I’ve been set up.” I was so anxious that I realized I really had no idea what had happened.

I was silent for a long time before I decided to say, “Look, Felix, it doesn’t matter whether you’re aware or not. The point is that you slept with Linda, and that’s a fact. Lulu is a sex maniac. If you had slept with someone other than Linda, there would probably still be a chance to work things out. But right now, I honestly believe there’s nothing I can do to help you.”

My words seemed to have dampened Felix’s spirits. He sat on the floor with his head down. “Why the hell did this happen, how did this happen?” he mumbled.

I figured this might be Linda’s revenge. When Louise was trying her best to convince her father to leave Linda, the bitch hated her. At that moment, I had a feeling that Linda would get her revenge. But I didn’t expect her revenge to be so cruel.

I was worried about Louise, so I called her and finally found her on the street.

When I saw her back sitting on the sidewalk, I felt very sad.

In fact, it was not easy for Louise to fall in love with someone. Before, I was happy for her that she had finally found a man who loved and spoiled her. To top it off, her father even agreed to the relationship. I never would have expected this twist of fate to happen.

“Lulu, I think this is Linda’s way of getting back at you. Felix was framed. You have to be rational about this.”

Louise hugged her legs, watching the cars go by with a bitter smile on her face.

“So what if he was just set up? The fact is, he slept with that bitch. How can I forgive him for that? How, Eve? Tell me. do you think you can forgive Derek if Becky drugs him and they sleep together?”

I couldn’t answer the question. Honestly, I didn’t even want to contemplate the possibility of that happening.

“You won’t be able to forgive him either, will you? That’s what I feel. Even though I understand that he’s been set up, I can’t bring myself to go through with it, because I keep picturing them in bed and having sex. I can never forget it, no matter how much I want to erase it from my memory.”

“We should go home first. It’s cold out here,” I suggested.

She didn’t move and kept talking. “My father just called me. He said he won’t let me ever be with Felix again, and I’ve agreed. This is the first time I’ve ever obeyed my father.” Louise didn’t want to leave, she had to stay with her.

Meanwhile, Derek was nearby, leaning against the car and smoking quietly. He made no attempt to urge me to leave.

Louise said nothing until a pair of Martin boots appeared in front of us. A moment later, a man slung a coat over his shoulders.

“Hey, what are you doing sitting here on the cold sidewalk? It’s winter already.”

Hearing the familiar voice, I looked up and saw Layne’s face. He was staring at Louise, as if she was the only thing he could see.

“Do you really care if I’m cold or not?” he muttered.

It must have been the first time she had spoken to Layne in such a low voice.

Layne shoved his hands in his pockets and nodded earnestly. “Of course I care. I feel bad for you.”

“You do, huh?” asked Louise.

Layne straightened his clothes, standing up straight-faced. “I do.”

“How long are you going to care?” said Louise in a shaky voice.

A smile appeared on Layne’s face. “As long as I live and breathe.”

I looked at Louise and saw that her tears were about to fall .
