Chapter 265:

Felix struggled to get up off the ground and chased after the car. But in the end, he just stumbled in the middle of the road.

He tried to move his legs, but couldn’t hold on. And after several attempts, he gave up and lay on the ground, feeling defeated and screaming hysterically.

“Come back! Come back to me, Louise! Please. I beg you.” Every car on the road dodged him, and some of the drivers even rolled down their windows just to curse at him.

“Get lost, you asshole! Do you want to die?”

Felix clenched his fist and slammed it on the ground.

“Do it! Run me over, I dare you, you assholes! Do it. Fuck all of you.” Derek reached over, trying to lift Felix. But the latter just lay there, desperate and pathetic.

“Leave me alone,” Felix said in a slurred voice.

“Dude, I don’t want to do this, but it’ll be more annoying to bury you.” Derek was mean, but he was trying to be as calm as possible.

He soon managed to sling Felix over his shoulder and carried him to his car.

Realizing what Derek was doing, Felix cursed, “Damn!”.

Derek drove him back to the bar. I went with them too. The whole time I was very worried about Louise, because I had no idea where Layne might have taken her. I tried to call her, but her phone was switched off.

This made me very uneasy. Was Louise going to do the same thing to Felix?

I didn’t even want to think about it. I just hoped she wouldn’t. Otherwise, she would regret what she had done once she came to.

Later, Derek called Eric to come take care of Felix. After that, we left.

The next morning, while I was absentmindedly practicing driving, Louise called me and told me she was at the taekwondo gym.

I made up an excuse to tell Denzel and took the day off. Then, I rushed to the taekwondo gym. On the first floor of the gym, I ran into Felix.

“Is Louise upstairs?” When she looked at me, I realized that her bloodshot eyes were still full of hope.

“She might be. Let’s go upstairs and take a look,” I replied.

And so, we climbed the stairs and entered the taekwondo gym. I saw Louise as soon as I entered. She was practicing with a sandbag in her taekwondo uniform.

What surprised me was that she was wearing her hair short.

“Lulu,” I shouted.

Louise turned around and threw a punch. At that precise moment, Felix was heading toward her and took her punch directly. The impact was hard enough to spin her head around.

Moments later, Felix turned his head again. Then he touched his face, laughing like an idiot.

“Good job,” he said.

Louise didn’t even give him a glance, however. She walked past him and approached me.

“Lulu, why did you cut your hair?” I grabbed a towel and handed it to her.

After taking the towel, he replied, “A certain person likes my long hair, so I cut it.”

Obviously, she was referring to Felix. It turns out that the reason Louise had long hair was because he liked it that way. But now, she cut her hair in an attempt to get back at Felix.

“Honestly, it’s okay. Even if you’re bald, I’ll still love you,” Felix said as he stood a few steps behind her.

With her back to him, Louise replied, “What total and utter gall!”.

As she watched his back, it took her a while to gather enough courage to speak.

“When people are young, they tend to have a lot of fantasies about their future partner. They set a lot of standards. But once they’ve fallen in love with a person, they realize that all the rules they’ve set are nothing. They would be willing to give up any condition for the right person.” It was the first time I witnessed Felix being so serious.

What he said really made sense. When I was younger, I imagined my future partner to be tall, strong and gentle. He might wear glasses, but he was not to smoke, drink or play cards.

In short, he was to be perfect.

But I didn’t think Derek fit any of my standards, other than the fact that he was tall and strong. He smoked, drank, played cards, and sometimes wasn’t gentle at all. Felix was right. One can give up all one’s standards for the right person.
