Chapter 291:.

When I told Lavinia it was time for me to leave, her assistant stepped away to take care of something.

That’s when Lavinia offered to drive me home herself. But I didn’t have the heart to bother her, nor did I deserve it. So I told her I would take a cab home.

Seeing that I was adamant in my decision, Lavinia finally agreed…. Because it was a snowy day and I was in an isolated place, I had to walk a long way to get to the main road.

However, I still could not call a cab. After walking for about ten minutes, I finally saw a cab approaching me. And just before I could wave my hand, I heard the roar of an engine coming up behind me.

The moment I turned around, I saw several motorcycles coming toward me at breakneck speed. Instinctively, I moved to the edge of the road to avoid them.

However, one of the motorcycles kept coming towards me. I was so scared that I was forced to go to the center of the road.

Suddenly, they stopped, but their engines were still roaring.

Once the cab passed me, the driver looked at me several times before deciding to leave without saying a word.

I looked at the motorcyclists with fear in my heart. They were all wearing boots, leather jackets and thick rings on their fingers. One look was enough for me to assess that these men were not good people.

Feigning composure, I asked them, “What do you want?”

My question seemed to amuse them and they burst out laughing. None of them answered my question. Looking around, I fixed my eyes on one of them, who was wearing sunglasses. He was also wearing a pair of boots. He was resting his bike with one foot on the ground. His arms were crossed over his chest and his head was bowed. Through his tinted sunglasses, he gave me a look with pursed lips.

Somehow, I had the feeling that this man looked familiar. However, the sunglasses covered most of his face, so I couldn’t recognize him.

I reached into my pocket to pull out my phone. Suddenly, someone threw a snowball at me, which made me drop the phone.

I was about to pick it up, but the man wearing the sunglasses caught it first. I tried to pick it up, but he was holding it so high that I couldn’t even touch it with my fingers.

And as I looked at the man holding my phone, I felt that this man was someone I had met.

“Who the hell are you?” I asked, staring at him.

He laughed at my question as he took off his sunglasses.

The moment I saw his face, I was shocked.

It was Lean.

“What, you’re that surprised to see me?” Lean folded his arms, seemingly amused by my reaction.

Naturally, I was indeed surprised, as I had no idea that he had already broken free. On the one hand, I was glad that all we had done was not in vain. But on the other hand, I had a strong feeling that Lean’s acquittal would only cause problems for Derek.

“Give me my phone back.” I tried to snatch it from him, but he refused to give it back. Instead, he pocketed it and returned to his bike.

Two others got off their own bikes, grabbed me by the arms and lifted me up to sit behind Lean.

I wanted to jump off, but I was too late, as the bike I was sitting on had already shot forward and I almost fell off.

Fortunately, I grabbed the back of Lean’s clothes just in time. It was easy to guess that the young man was trying to scare me, so I stifled the scream that almost escaped my throat.

Unfortunately for me, I was driving so fast that the gusts of wind blowing past my face felt like paper cuts. It felt as if every muscle in my face had buckled because of the wind.

“Are you crazy?” I grabbed at his clothes, balancing myself.

The moment I opened my mouth, gusts of wind rushed in, and I couldn’t utter another word. Lean’s bike was like a wild horse without reins. It wouldn’t slow down even when turning a corner.

Fearing I might die, I clung to his clothes as if my life depended on it. I was scared that I might fall off the bike if I let go, even for a second.
