Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 326
Chapter 326:
Louise got into the car and drove at full speed. She was more anxious than I was. “You know sometimes big stars get invited to these parties. Now that Becky is here, she will definitely take the opportunity and ask Derek to take her.” Hearing that, I was worried.
When we arrived at the hotel, Louise gave a generous tip to the waiter who opened the door for us and we walked in with no problem. We followed the music and arrived at the huge man-made lake.
Colored lights were twinkling and guests were splitting into groups to chat and drink. It was a lively party.
I looked around, but I couldn’t see Derek and Becky anywhere. All the women were wearing elegant evening gowns. I turned to glance at Louise and then at myself. We had both rushed around in casual clothes.
If anything happened, we would be humiliated. I tugged on Louise’s sleeve, intending to leave. However, Louise’s body froze.
“Eve, show your face. It’s my father. I’ll go see if that bitch Linda is with him.” She turned to leave angrily.
However, I grabbed her hand and stopped her, “Lulu, don’t be impulsive.”
Louise gave me a reassuring look. “Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing. Dere International is hosting this party, so I’m not going to embarrass Derek.”
I walked around the place, but Derek was nowhere to be found. I looked around, but I couldn’t see Louise either. I was a little worried, so I walked towards the lake. I was concentrating on looking for Louise, so I accidentally stepped on a woman’s dress. My stomach churned when I heard the sound of tearing.
The woman turned around. She was a young, pretty woman with a slender figure.
She looked at me coldly and looked down. Her eyes widened in horror as she saw the torn hem of her dress.
“Did you do that on purpose? You ruined my dress!” Her high-pitched scream drew everyone’s attention. I hated myself for being too careless. I didn’t want to be seen, but things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to.
I knew there was no point in apologizing because the damage was done. Still, I forced a smile and apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
The woman gave me a cocky look and, at that moment, I knew she wouldn’t let go of me easily. She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at me.
“You didn’t mean to? Well, I don’t think so. Now I have a question for the hotel manager – don’t you have a rule for hiring people? Why the hell did you hire incompetent people?”

It took me a few seconds to realize that she had assumed I was a waitress here. “I’m not a waitress,” I corrected her.
Just as I finished speaking, a man in a white suit approached, “What happened, Lindsay?”
When the woman named Lindsay heard that, the arrogance on her face disappeared in an instant. She looked at him and pointed her finger at me.
“This woman ruined my dress-how am I going to get up on stage to perform?” It seemed that she was the star invited to perform tonight. But I couldn’t recognize her. Maybe she wasn’t famous.
“Ok, don’t be mad.”
The man pulled the woman into his arms and comforted her. Then he looked up and frowned at me.
“Tell me. You ruined Lindsay’s dress, what are you going to do now?”
Just then, Louise appeared out of nowhere. Knowing she was in trouble, she stepped in front of me and cast a wary glance at the couple.
“Eve, what’s wrong?” I feared Louise would make things worse, so I quickly pulled her behind me and smiled apologetically.
“I’m so sorry. I’m going to make up for this dress.”
Lindsay scoffed at me. “You said you’re not a waitress. Well then I guess you’re a groupie. You must have snuck in here. I’ve seen a lot of people like you. Make up for it? I doubt it. This is a limited edition dress. Can you afford it?” His words exuded hatred and contempt.
I didn’t care what she said, but Louise lost her temper. “You think we’re groupies? How ridiculous! Who the hell are you? You may have done a few roles on TV, but you act like you won an Oscar.”
Hearing that, I examined Lindsay’s face and realized that she had played the role of a woman in a few soap operas. Louise’s words infuriated Lindsay.
Also, people gathered around us, which made her feel worse. Suddenly she stepped forward and threw the wine from her glass at us. She had aimed it at Louise, but I quickly pushed it away. The result was that the drink landed on my face.
