Chapter 464:

“Yes. Lulu’s son is probably a month or two older than ours. It’s hard for a woman to raise a child alone in a strange place” Derek stopped the car suddenly.

I turned my head in surprise and met his intense gaze. He grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes.

“You’re right. It’s hard for a woman to raise a child alone in a strange place. Thank you, honey. And I’m sorry you had to do it all alone in Chinston.”

When I talked about Louise, I almost forgot that I’d been through the same thing. I tucked a lock of hair behind my ear and gently shook my head.

“It wasn’t that big of a deal to me. I’d suffered a lot since I was a kid, so pain wasn’t new to me. But Lulu is different. She…”

“She’s an adult now,” Derek interrupted me. “Every step she takes in life is her choice. If she can’t change something, she has to accept it and adapt to the situation. Everyone has to live life their own way. No one can help you.”

Derek was right. Life was about reacting to the situations life presented to us.

“Honey, you can’t help everyone and change their lives. Don’t stress. Let’s not go home now. I think you should relax first.”

We arrived at a fancy club. As soon as we entered the club, he went straight up to the third floor. My eyes widened when I saw the huge billiard room.

As soon as we arrived, someone greeted him with a smile. It seemed Derek was a frequent visitor here.

“VIP room,” Derek said to the man.

Immediately, he ushered us into a VIP room. The room was larger than I expected. Not only did it have a pool table, but also a couch and a TV.

It was a perfect place to relax after a long day.

“Do you know how to play pool?” he asked me.

I shook my head. Then I reached up and picked up a cue.

“Even though I don’t know how to play, I can learn.” Derek took off his coat and laid it on the couch.

He walked over to me and reached out to take off my clothes. I unconsciously took a step back.

“Don’t you play pool?”

He crossed his arms over his chest, tilted his head to look at me and smiled.

“The air conditioner’s on inside. Don’t you want to take off your coat?

It’s hot. Besides, it’s not convenient to play pool in a coat.”

It turned out that I had overthought his gesture, so I awkwardly took off my coat and left it on the couch.

I was wearing a white knit shirt with a low collar. It was a tight-fitting top that exposed all the curves of my body. Derek came over and stared at me.

“Can we get started now?” I asked him.

“Sure.” He had a sly grin on his face. He stood behind me and showed me how to play pool.

He pressed his chest against my back as he held my hand and explained the different aiming angles. His hot breath blew over my skin as he spoke.

“Aim at the target, straighten the cue and push it into the hole. That’s it.”

I couldn’t help but wonder if I was thinking too much. Why did I get the feeling he was explaining everything to me so ambiguously?

“I’ll try it myself,” I said awkwardly.

“Okay.” He stepped aside and watched me play.

After several attempts, I finally got the ball in the hole. My eyes popped open and I jumped for joy. Derek smiled and gave me a thumbs up. When I resumed playing, he reached over to correct my position. He pressed his chest against my body again and his palms covered the backs of my hands.

Our cheeks were mere inches from each other. My stomach churned and I couldn’t concentrate when we were in such an intimate position.
