Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 477
Chapter 477:
Jolly Mayer had gained popularity in recent months after its launch in Sousen. The brand’s reputation seemed to be steadily increasing.
We held a meeting and decided to invite a star to promote the brand. The star’s popularity would offer economic benefits and promote our company in wider markets around the world.
Choosing the right star for sponsorship was critical because it was the key factor in positioning our brand in the global marketplace.
The planning department contacted the major entertainment companies. They sent me the photos of the stars they had shortlisted and I had to choose the best one. I looked at the photos on the table. My jaw tensed as my gaze landed on one of the photos.
I looked at it and saw Becky smiling innocently, which was unlike her.
She was an exceptional actress. I set aside her photo and selected other female stars that fit our company’s style.
I asked the planning department to set a time for the auditions and inform the candidates.
On the day of the audition, I personally went to the studio. The director of the planning department had arranged a couch in the center for me to analyze and judge. I examined the female stars one after another.
They had all put a lot of effort into dressing well, and I could tell they wanted to earn the opportunity. My eyes widened as my gaze fell on one of them.
Realizing I was looking at her, Becky looked away.
“Miss Stone, please have some coffee.”
The head of the planning department held out a cup of freshly brewed coffee to me.
“Miss Stone, look at Becky, the one in the white lace dress. I think she is exceptional; her fee is not high either.”
The head of the planning department recommended Becky to me.
I picked up my coffee and took a sip, watching them act without saying anything. The agents glanced at me from time to time to see what I was thinking, but I preferred not to reveal any emotions.

When Becky’s turn came, I got up and left the studio.
“Miss Stone, there are still a few people left to act.” The head of the planning department caught up with me.
“I know what I’m doing.” I continued to strut, not bothering to wait for her. As I left the studio, Megan followed me.
“Don’t you want to see how your idol acts?”. I asked smiling.
She pouted. “Who, you mean Becky? Well, she’s not my idol now.”
“Why?” I looked at her surprised. “Even though I sometimes go star-crazy, I’m a woman of principle. When I saw…” She paused and looked at me as if she wanted to say something, but stopped as she thought better of it.
I arched an eyebrow and smiled at her, “Tell me. Did you see the rumor about her and my husband?” Megan nodded.
“Yes, after that I hated her. All the adoration turned to disgust. She’s a terrible woman with a twisted mind. I was blinded by having worshipped her from the beginning.”
“Everyone does something foolish in their life,” I said with a smile.
After returning to my office, I poured myself a large glass of water and drank it in one gulp. Then I poured myself another glass of water, stood by the window and stared out at the buildings, people and vehicles outside. A weight had settled on my heart and I couldn’t breathe. It was suffocating.
At that moment there was a soft knock on the door. I did not answer.
The person outside hesitated for a moment and pushed open the door. I didn’t bother to look back because I had already seen who it was through the window.
Becky stood in the doorway for a while. When she saw that I didn’t respond, she walked slowly toward me. I took a sip of water and continued to ignore her.
